Rose Granger-Weasley was born on October 8, 2005 and for Ginny and Harry it was almost as if they had a baby themselves. They knew a few weeks in advance that Ron and Hermione had decided on this day to have the little girl via c-section (a day when Ginny didn't have a game) and they had been looking forward to the day until they finally got to meet their goddaughter.
Slowly the Potters walked down the corridor of the St Mungo's, so that James could walk with his little legs and not be dragged along by his father, to whose hand he clung.
"Are you excited to meet your new cousin?" Ginny had asked him in the afternoon as she had just finished getting him dressed for the visit to the hospital. James had only given a small nod as he was distracted by his favorite stuffed animal, which was probably more interesting than his mummy's talk. Shortly after, he had run through the house (with Paddy, said stuffed animal which was a dog in, his hand) to escape the brush Ginny was holding.
Now, about half an hour later, he ran between his parents with uncombed hair (still with Paddy in one hand and Harry's in the other) and seemed unusually calm.
"Here it is," said Harry, stopping in front of a room. He raised James to his arm while Ginny knocked softly on the door before she heard a soft "come in."
She opened the door and entered the room. Hermione sat upright in bed, holding a pink bundle in her arms. Next to her, Ron looked up when he saw his sister and his best mate.
"Hey," he said softly with a radiant smile on his lips, signifying to get closer to them. “This is Rose. Rose Granger-Weasley."
Ginny approached Hermine's bed so close that she could see her niece and goddaughter. "She's wonderful," she said quietly, still looking intrigued at the baby. “And the name Rose is perfect for her."
Meanwhile, Harry had passed on his son to Ron and also looked at the baby in the arms of his best friend. When Ginny asked Hermione if she could hold the baby and she handed Rose to her godmother in the affirmative, Harry looked up to Hermione.
"How are you?" he asked, looking at her questioningly.
Hermione smiled. “I feel great. Everything went uncomplicated and I'm pain-free. If things keep going like this, we can go home tomorrow."
James, meanwhile, noticed that his parents' attention was on something he didn't know. He didn't like it when his parents looked at something else with the look they used to look at him. And Uncle Ron didn't seem to have paid his full attention to him either. So he jumped off Ron's lap and walked over to his mother. He looked up at her and plucked at her trouser leg.
Smiling, she looked down at him and squatted (as well as she could with a baby belly and a baby on her arm) to show him the baby. "That's your little cousin Rose," she said, looking at her son waiting. He slowly stretched out his arm and stamped his little index finger on his cousin's nose. The adults around him laughed softly.
"Rosie," he repeated.
"In a few months you'll be a big brother and then we'll have a baby like that at home," Harry told him, who had also squatted down.
James looked at his father in dismay. “No."
Ginny had to stop laughing and then muttered, “It’s a little too late now."

When Rose was a little over a month old, the final of the Quidditch World Championship took place. The final was between England and Brazil, and since her aunt could still play and would be in the game, even Hermione went to the game. It was also the first time Rose had spent a few hours without her parents but with her maternal grandparents.
“Ginny Potter is now on the quaffel and is heading straight for the goal rings of Brazil. The Brazilians are not making it easy for the hunters of England and are trying to lure Potter out of the quaffle. But that was a mistake, because Potter may be very pregnant, but they have underestimated how agile she is and dodges the bludger that comes at her, skillfully with a sloth roll and rushes past the chasers of Brazil. Potter's heading for the middle goal ring. But she's aiming at the left, which the Keeper doesn't expect. SHE THROWS AND HITS THE GOAL RING! What a hit from the twenty-four year old!!!"
The stadium in Edinburgh shook and the cheering of England fans could be heard.
“England seems to be gaining momentum, because now they have the quaffle again. Potter matches Bates, who passes the quaffle to Lane. NOW HE THROWS IT AND NAILS IT! England seems to be catching up. It's 340 to 180 for Brazil."
Once again there was cheering from the England fans.
“And the snitch was spotted. If Brazil's seeker Torres catches the snitch, Brazil wins the game. England's Seeker Chambers must be careful not to catch the snitch already, otherwise Brazil will win, too. AND LANE SCORES ANOTHER GOAL. If England catches the snitch now, it's even. Chambers has his hand almost on the snitch, Torres is close on his heels, but Chambers eyes glide briefly to the chasers of his team and to Potter, who with a hard throw carries another Quaffel through the goal ring. CHAMBERS LEANS FORWARD AND CATCHES THE SNITCH. ENGLAND IS QUIDDITCH WORLD CHAMPION OF THE YEAR 2005!!!"
And so Ginny went down in the history of Quidditch as a heavily pregnant woman who had contributed to England's World Cup win.
