Chapter 1
“There you are Y/n! I’ve been looking for you everywhere!” Ginny said, running toward you. “Hey Ginny!” you said, smiling. “Have you heard the news?” Ginny asked, unable to keep still. She only does that when she is really excited. “What news?” you asked, confused. “There’s going to be a ball! They’re calling it the Yule Ball, every student from fourth year and above is allowed, and encouraged to come!” “Oh my goodness. What? When is it?” “Christmas Day!” “Right, duh, Yule Ball, Christmas Day.” “Who are you going to ask?” Ginny said, smirking. “I think you already know the answer to that question” You hadn’t been very vocal about your crush on Cedric to anybody, but your best friend Ginny was obviously an exception. “Are you actually going to ask him? I’d say do it soon, I heard some Ravenclaws saying that Cho Chang wants to ask him.” “There is no way on earth I’m letting that happen.” It was at this moment that both you and Ginny saw Cedric, sitting on a bench, talking with his friends. “He’s right there, go ask him!” “Now? I- he’s-” Ginny interrupted you and said “Do you want to go with him or not?” Of course I do!” you exclaimed, much louder than you probably should have. “Then go do it!” “Ok, ok, fine.” You walked over to the bench where Cedric and his friends were talking, took a deep breath and said “Cedric, can I talk to you alone please?” He looked confused but said “Yeah, that’s fine.” All his friends went “Ooo” and he replied with “Shut up, all of you.” Once you and Cedric were alone, you asked “Do you want to go to the Yule Ball with me?” It was at this moment, a huge gust of wind came, masking your voice. “Sorry, I didn’t catch that” Cedric said. You repeated “Do you want to go to the Yule Ball with me?” For a good minute, Cedric stayed silent. You began to worry. “I’m sorry, I’m just surprised that’s all, I was going to ask you! I’ve liked you since we were kids, Y/n” he said, smiling ear to ear. “So is that a yes?” you ask, but you think you already know the answer. “Of course it is” You smiled and said “Great.” “Cedric, get back over here, you’re taking ages!” one of his friends called. “I’d best be off, I’ll see you soon though” said Cedric, rolling his eyes at his friends. “Ok, see you” You run over to Ginny, who is anxiously waiting around the corner. “Were you listening?” you asked her, suddenly suspicious. “I was trying to, a group of first years were throwing fanged frisbees around and being really loud, so how’d it go? You seem happy.” Ginny said. “He said yes, apparently he’s liked me as long as I’ve liked him!” “I told you that he liked you! I’m always right” “Oh shut up”
