Chapter 2
“I told you that dress would suit you, didn’t I?” Ginny said, walking into your dorm on the evening of the Yule Ball. You’re wearing a tight yellow dress that reaches to about your ankles, not too long, not too short. There is a slit in the side of the end of the dress, and it’s a silky material. Your shoes are really tall silver high heels, you wonder how on earth you’re going to dance in them, but it’s all worth it. “Yes you did” you said, jokingly rolling your eyes at her. “You look gorgeous by the way.” you add. She’s wearing a tight red dress, complete with gold shoes to match. She was a bit more sensible than you, and settled for high heels that she could actually dance in. “Are you ready to tell me who you’re going with?” you asked. “Fine, I’m going with Harry” she answered. “Like Harry Potter? Like the guy you’ve liked since we were eleven? Like other Hogwarts champion, Harry?” you exclaimed. “How many other Harry’s do we know?” “Good point” You both laugh. “Ok, I better go, I’m meeting Harry in the entrance hall in 10 minutes” Ginny said, grabbing the handbag the she threw on your bed. “Ok, see you” you replied. You had agreed to Cedric in your common room 10 minutes before the dance, you grabbed your own handbag, and made your way out of your dorm to the common room. You met Cedric and for someone who you’ve been friends with for six years, you were oddly shy around him. On the walk to the Great Hall Cedric said “Did I mention that the champions and their partners have to start the dance?” “No you didn’t” you replied, suddenly nervous. You hated the idea of over half the school watching you dance. Cedric saw the look on your face, grabbed your hand and said “It’ll be fine, just pretend like they’re not there” You nodded but said nothing. When you reached the doors to the Great Hall, you and Cedric got in line behind Fleur Delacour, Viktor Krum and their partners, Harry and Ginny hadn’t arrived yet. A minute or so later, you heard them come up behind you. When Professor McGonagall wasn’t looking, you turned around and winked at Ginny. “Ok, go!” you heard Professor McGonagall say, and Fleur and her partner Roger Davies walked into the hall, where everyone was, and started dancing. Viktor Krum and Hermione followed, then you and Cedric. When you started dancing, all your nerves just vanished. It felt like it was just you and Cedric, no one else. You knew that it was going to be a great night.
