Happiness Doesn't Last
Three Months Later
Godrics Hollow, Wednesday, October 31st, 1981. Samhain or Halloween as the muggles call it.
The screen showed, making many people realize what they were about to see, causing the happy and amused atmosphere to disappear. Dumbledore shifts in his seat, trying to think of good excuses.
We see a dark figure swiftly enter Godrics Hollow. As he enters James catches sight of him but before he could do anything, the figure pointed his wand at him. "Stupefy!" the figure yelled and watched as James Potter fell to the floor.
He went upstairs and went to the room where he heard crying. After opening the door, he saw Lily. Who is protectively standing between the two cribs her wand out. "Leave my babies alone!" Lily screamed, hoping she didn't sound afraid. "Step aside!" The figure growled. "No! You can't have them!" Lily said, not planning on budging anytime soon. Not wanting to continue this back and forth or harm her, the figure casted stupefied again before pulling his cloak down, to reveal the face of Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Everyone paused, not expecting to see a handsome stranger.
"Does anyone know who that is?"
"No, but he's hot!" a lot of people nod in agreement, giggling like school girls.
Hadrian scowls at them, repulsed that they're talking about his father that way. Seeing his face, his friends laugh at him.
"That is Lord Voldemort!" Dumbledore says, silencing everyone... And after they were done processing, they all started to talk again.
"Really? I didn't think he'd look like that."
"Maybe I should switch sides."
"For some reason, I assumed he wouldn't have a nose."
"He's still hot!"
"Are you sure that's Lord Voldemort?"
"He would look better if he had a snake on his shoulder."
"This isn't actually surprising, villains are usually desirable."
"Remind me why I'm on the light side when the dark side has that!"
"SILENCE! You are all being extremely rude. Lily and I went through a lot of trauma because of that man!" James said, making everyone feel guilty.
In reality, he was jealous of all the praise his enemy was getting. "I don't get praise like that, I'm just as hot as he is. At least Lily didn't say anything, I'm glad she's faithful."
Unknown to James, Lily was thinking what everyone else was saying. (AN: I'm extremely ashamed to say that as I was writing this my first thought was "Unknown to James, Lily was wet and clenching." .... I'm so sorry.)
In the shadows, multiple people were laughing at their reactions, while one man was a little creeped out by the children.
Tom walks over to the cribs, casually stepping over Lily, to get a better look at the babies. He looks at the names, deciding to start with Albus. He peers into the left crib to see an ugly pudgy baby crying and wailing. He grimaces before looking over at the other crib. Only for him to be shocked.
The baby wasn't crying at all, just staring at him with curious big eyes, not showing any fear. "I definitely like this one better." Tom thinks, getting annoyed with the loud baby.
A few people hold in chuckles, not wanting to upset James.
"Hi!" Harry said as he waved his hand and smiled, as if this was a normal situation. Saying hi to the stranger than knocked his mother unconscious with a magic stick.
A few people snorted at that.
"Hi." Tom said and smiled back at the baby before realizing what he was doing and shaking his head "Don't get distracted. You're here for a reason." He reminds himself this a few more times in his head, resisting picking up the baby and cooing at it.
"Who knew the scary Lord Voldemort liked babies?" Katerina Anders, a Hufflepuff, whispered to themselves. The people that heard her, chuckled quietly.
Finally getting focused, he points his wand at each baby, checking their magical signature. Starting with Albus he sees that the baby has an almost below-average core, he's surprised that it isn't a squib.
A lot of people, including the Potters, furrow their eyebrows in confusion. "Shouldn't the boy who lived have a huge amount of magic?" They all think.
Turning to his favorite, Harry, he sees that his core is vast, and he shivers at the intensity of it. "It's probably around the size of my current one." He thinks, stunned that a baby could have this much magic. There was no doubt in his mind that Harry Potter is the child of the prophecy.
Dead silence in the theater.
No one spoke.
...
The silence was broken by the Slytherins, who started laughing. "Are you telling me the legendary Albus Potter isn't even the real boy who lived!" Draco tauned.
"All this time you've been boasting about how special you are when you're basically a squib!" Daphne continues, making the Slytherins laugh harder.
Some people from other houses joined in on the laughter. Tears started to form in Albus's eyes. "DAD! MAKE THEM STOP!" He yells to James, who along with Lily, was too stunned to speak. (AN: The woman was too stunned to speak)
Huffing at them, he turns back to the laughing crowd. "I AM THE REAL BOY WHO LIVED! I AM!" He yells as he stomps his feet.
This only makes everyone laugh harder. "I HAVE THE SCAR TO PROVE IT!" Albus yells, furious at them.
Lily let out a sob, making everyone quiet. "Oh, my Merlin, James! We sent Harry to live with my sister! My poor baby, I could have been raising him!"
Lily starts sobbing harder when she realizes that she didn't need to give her perfect baby up. "How could we have mixed this up? What are we supposed to do? He doesn't even know about the Wizarding World!" Lily continues crying as James brings her to his side.
"Shh, calm down Lil. We need to keep watching if we want to find out how this happened. And once we're out of this place we can go to the Durselys, pick Harry up, and introduce him to the Wizarding World. Everything will be fine, all of us will be happy."
Hadrian and his friends scowl at them.
As Tom was about to leave, because he would never harm a precious magical child, especially one this powerful, someone entered the room. Turning around, he saw the person he hated the most.
Albus too many names Dumbledore.
"Ah Tom, very good to see you. Are you here to kill child of the prophecy?" Dumbledore said with a twinkle in his cold eyes. Tom rolls his eyes. "You and I both know I would never harm an innocent child. Especially this one, he's adorable." Tom says, muttering that last part to himself.
A lot of people throw suspicious glances toward Dumbledore before laughing at what Tom said about Harry. Over on the Slytherin side, Hadrian grins, already planning on holding this over his father.
A man in the shadows grumbles as the people around him laugh, not stopping even when he threatened to use the killing curse on them.
At the same time, Dumbledore and Riddle raised their wands, firing spells at each other. As they continued dueling, Dumbledore was losing. Not wanting to lose at any cost, Dumbledore does something Tom least expects. He fires the killing curse at Harry.
Everyone in the theater gasps, while Dumbledore scowls, "What do I do? I still haven't thought of a good excuse."
A lot of people were about to yell at Dumbledore, wanting to know why the hell he threw a killing curse at a magical child, but the scene kept playing.
A green shield raised in front of Harry, making the curse rebound. Tom ducked last minute before fleeing. A chunk of the ceiling where the curse hit, fell on an already screeching Albus, creating a 'V' mark on his cheek, making him cry even more.
A few people let out snickers at how Albus' "legendary scar" was created.
Harry's energy was depleting from how much magic he used to protect himself. A lightning bolt scar on his forehead is seen hidden behind his messy hair and before Harry passes out, his eyes slowly turn Avada Kedavra green.
A few observant people notice that Hadrian as the same unique colored eyes, they look at him curiously before turning back to the screen.
Dumbledore looks at Harry with a twinkle in his eyes, before checking his magical signature. Seeing that there was basically nothing there, he turns to the child named after him. His was definitely higher but not by much. He looks at the baby for a few minutes before getting an idea and picking him up.
Just then, James woke up and ran up the stairs to see Dumbledore holding Albus, Harry left in his crib. Seeing that Albus and Harry were fine he ran to Lily, hoping she was okay.
"Lil! Are you okay? Please wake up!" James pleads as he shakes her. "Mhgh." Lily groaned, not really knowing what was going on. After a few moments, she shot up, finally aware. "My babies! James are they okay??"
"Yeah, Albus is in Dumbledore's arms while Harry is asleep in his crib." James tells her as he helps her off the floor. Lily immediately rushed to Albus and Dumbledore. "Is my baby okay? Did Voldemort do anything?" She asked concerned before she noticed his bleeding cheek.
"Oh, my poor baby! My poor Albus!" Lily cries as she takes her baby out of Dumbledore's arms and rocks him, trying to calm the crying baby.
James comes over after checking on Harry for a few minutes. "That mark! Does that mean Albus is the child of the prophecy?" James asked, looking at his oldest in worry.
Dumbledore looks at the two with a solemn face. "I'm afraid so." Lily gasps as she holds her baby closer to her. James looks at Albus sadly, knowing his life will be hard.
"What should we do with Harry?" James asks Dumbledore. "What do you mean by that?" Lily questions, completely confused. James sighs before turning to Lily and saying, "Harry will be very jealous of his Albus' fame, it would be better if he was sent away."
Dumbledore, seeing that Lily wasn't convinced nods in agreement before speaking up. "As the chosen one, Albus will have an extremely hard life. He'll have to grow up famous and spend a lot of time training to defeat Voldemort. Harry will just be in the way and you won't have any time for him. He could go to live with the Durselys."
Lily looks like she's about to disagree before she thinks over it and nods. "Okay, we'll send him in the morning." As Harry was still suffering from the effects of a killing curse, Albus was deemed the hero.
Everyone had no words for what they just witnessed. But one thing they knew for sure is that something is off with Dumbledore.
