Happiness Doesn't Last
Godrics Hollow
June 29th, 1981
Two babies are shown in separate cribs. Both are eleven months old. The left crib says Albus in orange letters while the right says Harry in green letters. Albus is chubby, almost looking like a mini beach ball. If he got even two pounds bigger he would be considered overweight for a baby. His rust-red hair and mud brown eyes contrast very poorly. To make it worse his hair looks like a nest. Harry is a normal thin baby. His dark brown hair and green eyes go together perfectly. His hair is a little messy but not to the extent of Albus'.
Many people aw at how cute Harry is. "I didn't know you had a brother Albus! Where is he now?" Hermione asks, wanting to marry into the family but not wanting to marry him. Instead of responding Albus grunts and turns his head away.
Lily turns to Hermione, answering her question. "He's at my sister's, he's been living there happily for years. He doesn't even know about the Wizarding World." Hermione nods and once Lily turns her head away, she sulks.
On the other side of the room, Hadrian and his friends scowl. Unknown to them more people are scowling. A certain person in particular is gripping his armrest, stopping himself from grabbing his wand and killing the muggle-born.
A younger Lily and James walk into the room, going over to the crib and picking up the babies. James takes Albus while Lily takes Harry. They walk downstairs where we see Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew.
Lily walks over to Peter and Sirius while James goes to Remus. "Say hi to Uncle Remus, mini Albus!" James practically cheers as he passes the baby off to Remus before he could say anything.(AN: In my head, I imagined James basically throwing baby Albus at Remus as soon as he got the chance.)
Some people gasp at how young they look. Draco turns to Hadrian. "Taking care of Albus must have aged them." Hadrian snorts as the rest of the Slytherins laugh. The Hufflepuffs nearby started laughing too.
"Does little Harry want to say hi to Uncle Peter?" Lily said, putting Harry in Peter's arms. As soon as Harry realized what was going on, he started crying. Reaching his little hands out to Sirius. Peter was going to give him over but Lily stopped him.
"No, no Harry. You need to learn to like Uncle Peter. He's kind to you, can't you be kind to him?" Lily scolded, upset at him. This only made Harry cry harder. "Siri! Siri!" Harry screamed, making everyone in the room stop.
Sirius and Remus smile, remembering when times were fun and easy. While Lily and James frown, wishing things were different and their perfect baby could have stayed with them instead of going to the Durselys.
It was completely silent before James and Sirius let out whoops of joy. "He said his first words!" "His first words were my name!" They both said at the same time as they jumped up and down, their arms all over the place.
Lily and Remus laugh as Sirius takes Harry out of Peter's arms and starts throwing him up in the air. Harry giggles, happy to be with his favorite person. "Say it again!" Sirius says with the biggest smile. "Siri! Siri!" Harry repeats.
Everyone aw'd at Harry again, smiling at how cute he is. Draco nudges Hadrian, making Hadrian push him and slap the back of his head.
While Sirius was playing with Harry, the others turned to Albus, hoping they can make him say his first word too. "Come on Albus, you can do it," Lily says as she takes him from Remus and rocks him. "Say mama." Lily repeated it a few more times before getting annoyed.
"It's not that hard, say mama." Albus opened his mouth, making Lily and the others think he was going to say it. Only for him to let out a huge disgusting burp, right in Lily's face.
Everyone starts laughing. The Ravenclaws were covering their mouths, trying to be polite but they couldn't hold it in. Hufflepuffs were laughing so hard they fell out of their chairs while the Slytherins were slowly turning blue. Some of the Gryffindors sunk in their seats, ashamed to be in the same house as him, this only made the Slytherins laugh harder. A few of them passed out.
The Albus off-screen blushes in embarrassment and anger. "How dare that stupid squib brother of mine show off and how dare the others laugh at me! I'm Albus Hunter Severus-Fleamont Potter, the great legendary Boy Who Lived! They won't be laughing when I get I mummy and daddy to ruin their parent's jobs!"
While Albus was fuming, Lily and James turn away from her friends' eyes, wishing the ground would swallow them. Years ago, they were extremely ashamed of their oldest. Harry was always a step ahead of him and anytime their friends asked, they would say that Albus was just as great as Harry.
Lily scrunches her nose before passing Albus off to James and going over to where Sirius and Harry are, who are both sitting on the floor playing with blocks. She picks Harry up, ignoring Sirius' upset shout.
"Hey, Harry! Can you say mama? Mama, say mama." She encourages, wanting at least one of her children to say her name. Harry just stares at her. "Come on! Say my name!" She smiles sweetly at him, hoping it was enough to convince him to say it.
"Li-Li!" Harry says as he claps his hands. Lily stares at him, very displeased. "You're supposed to call me mama. Not that." Harry frowns at her, not understanding what he did wrong. Lily groans before putting Harry back on the floor with Sirius.
Molly Weasley, one of Lily's best friends and Dumbledore's strongest supporters, frowns at the impolite baby. She, like everyone else, thought that baby Harry was adorable. Until now. "A child, no matter how old, should never be disrespectful to their mother. How shameful!"
James chuckles before going over to where Lily is standing. "Well, you did tell him to call you by your name, Lily-Flower." He kisses her on the head as he wraps his arms around her. "You need to be patient with them, their babies." She leans into his touch and sighs.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry. I just got so excited when Harry said Sirius' name." Lily says to James but continues frowning. "Why did he say his name first? What has he done that I haven't?" Lily thinks, feeling jealous. "He'll say it eventually," James responds.
Lily smiles at him but continues her private ranting. "I don't understand why he can't say it now. I'm his mother, shouldn't my name be said first! I carried him for months and birthed him for Merlin's sakes! He owes me!"
Hadrian sends a prayer to his father and mother. "I'm thankful I was around that." He thinks distastefully as he scowls. (AN: Is "distastefully" a word?)
A lot of people frown at Lily's behavior but before someone could comment on it, the screen was changing.
A Month Later
July 5th, 1981.
We see little Harry running away from Sirius and Remus, who were chasing him around the house. "Ahh, I got you!" Sirius screams as he dramatically picks Harry up and then tosses him to Remus. Harry squeals as his uncles play with him.
"Sirius! Next time you want to throw Harry, warn me. What would you have done if I hadn't caught him?" Remus scolds as he holds Harry close. Sirius rolls his eyes, "You would have caught him." Remus scoffs before responding. "You don't know that!"
Sirius and Remus laugh, remembering how Harry escaped their arms after that and continued running, making them have to catch him all over again.
Many other people laugh at the two men, realizing that they haven't changed a bit since then.
Hadrian hides his fond smile behind his hand.
As Remus and Sirius are bickering, Lily and James are in the living room, trying to get Albus to walk. "Come on, Albus! Walk towards daddy!" James says as he holds out his hands.
"You can do it! Go on baby, walk towards your daddy!" Lily says as she holds Albus up, trying to make him stand. They kept trying for another hour before Lily got frustrated and picked Albus up and put him in James' arms.
"Ugh! Why isn't he walking James?! Harry can already run!" Lily says as she frowns at baby Albus. "Maybe there's something wrong with him? We should take him to see someone. I'll call and make an appointment!" Lily says and turns around but before she could leave the room, James grabs her arm.
Albus gets even more angry that the squib kept showing him up. While Albus was slowly turning red from anger, some other people were annoyed with Lily's behavior.
"Calm down Lil. He'll walk when he's ready. Let's just keep trying." James smiles at her. Lily looks at James and Albus before sighing, not really liking the idea but agreeing to it. She sits down in front of the two and puts on a smile.
"How about we try and get him to say his first word?" Lily had still been trying to get Albus to say mama since Harry had said his first words.
"Wow. He still hasn't said anything yet?" Someone in the theater said mockingly, making a few people who hated Albus chuckle.
Lily and James kept saying mama and dada for an hour straight, hoping he would catch on and say one of them. During all of this, Albus was trying to eat his foot. When Albus finally put his foot out of his mouth, Lily and James cheered.
"Good! Now all you have to do is say mama! Say mama!" Lily said as she kept his little feet in her hands so he won't try and eat them again. Albus opened his mouth, making James smile, before he let out the biggest fart. "Poop. I poop!" Albus said as his diaper started turning brown.
The loudest silence was heard before everyone (Minus the Potters and Dumbledore) started laughing.
Dumbledore looked at the screen with displeasure. "I can't believe I have to share a name with that."
As Albus was cheerfully clapping his hands, Lily and James were sitting in shock and disgust at what their child just did. They snapped out of it when they feel something wet touch their pants. Looking down, they see brown poop leaking out of Albus' diaper.
"Ugh! Look at what you did Albus! Bad boy!" Lily says as she waves a finger in his face. James starts panicking, worried about the expensive carpet. "How are we going to get this out of the carpet? It's all over!" Lily and James groan at the thought of cleaning this up. "I told you we should have gotten House Elves." James mutters.
"Until that moment, I never knew someone could poop that much." Lily whispers to James in horror. James responded, not knowing that the entire theater could hear their conversation. "It was worse when he kept pooping after. We had to bathe him five times just to get the smell out." James shivers.
"Gross! I can't believe he did that." Jess Marrin, a Ravenclaw gags in disgust.
"I can." Oliver Hale, a Slytherin, said, his face scrunched up. A lot of other people laugh or nod in agreement.
"Imagine having to clean that up. I feel so bad for them." Rosemarie Miller, a Hufflepuff said.
"I don't." Hadrian said with a smirk, enjoying this.
While Lily and James were regretting having children, specifically Albus, Sirius and Remus were having the time of their lives with Harry. Sirius is holding Harry in his lap while Remus puts a cup in front of him.
"You see this Harry?" When Harry nods, he brings the cup closer to him. Remus and Sirius watch as Harry stares at the delicious brown liquid before sniffing it. "Smell good!" Harry chirped.
Albus frowns about what was said about him before grinning. "I bet they don't regret having me now! I'm the boy who lived!"
Hadrian freezes, suddenly realizing that people will soon find out he's Harry. He holds in a groan, not looking forward to this. "There's going to be so much teasing!" He thinks.
"What is?" Harry asks as he tilts his head. "This is called hot chocolate." Remus said as he smiled softly at Harry. Sirius grinned at the adorable scene. "I try?" Harry's eyes light up when Remus nods.
After taking a sip, with the help of Remus, Harry starts to clap excitedly. "Yummy! Yummy!" Remus and Sirius laugh at Harry before helping him drink more.
A lot of people laugh, not noticing Hadrian was sinking in his chair. "There goes my reputation." He thinks as he tries not to pout.
Draco laughs at Hadrian, trying to keep it quiet knowing he'll get slapped again. "He reacted like that last week when we were drinking hot chocolate in the common room."
Draco, despite how quiet he was being, still got slapped by Hadrian. Daphne snickered at the two, very amused.
