Sneak Peek

He fiddles with the book in his hands. It's made of dark leather and hand sewn. It's old that's for sure. He lifts it to his face and quickly sniffs the leather. Yup, it smells like dust and old, aged, leather. He grins and tosses it back and forth between his hands.

"So you found this in the bathroom?" He asks his fairy.

The blonde nods, "I was talking with Myrtle and found it sitting on a window seal."

Neville walks up and holds out a hand, so Harry gently tosses the book to the boy. Neville stares at it for a minute, before he reaches up and loosens his tie.

"You okay?" Theodore asks.

"Yes," Neville says, "It's just that this is the notebook that Ginny has been carrying with her everywhere. She writes in it all the time."

"So, you think it's just a journal?" Draco asks disappointedly. "I was hoping it could be something to help us figure out what is going on."

"Same," Harry mumbles, "Oh, well, let me see it."

Once the book is back in his hand, he runs his wand over it and is shocked by the number of runes etched into it.

"There's no way a first year could have done these," Theodore says, "Can you break through them?"

He nods quickly, waving his wand to tear down the wards. It was stupidly easy to do, but when he looks up all of his friends are staring at him in shock. "What?"

"You were speaking parseltongue."

Huh.

He pulls the book open and sees nothing but blank pages.

"Neville," he calls, "there's no way she was writing in this. Look, it's blank."

"What?" The boy walks over and ruffles through the pages, eyes wide at every single one being blank.

Draco huffs, "That makes no sense."

"I know," Neville whispers, "I swear she was writing in this book."

"I believe you," Harry says as he waves his hand and levitates over a quill and ink bottle.

Laying the book on the table, everyone watches as he fills his quill with ink and begins to write.

Hello. I'm Harry Potter.

They all watch as the ink dries and then disappears, fading into the paper.

"Maybe it's one of those new writing books that one store is selling down Knockturn. Ones that let you write to your friends if they have connected books." Theo states.

Luna hums then screeches, and they all look from her back to the book to see new writing appear.

Hello Harry. I am Tom Riddle.

"Oh shit," he mutters.
