Chapter 11
Percy's wedding was small, in their old flat in London whilst all hell was raining. They'd decided to let go for once and just fuck it. Everything was already going to shit why not latch onto that small piece of happiness and hold it close. Grab Oliver's hand like a lifeline in hell.
Percy's family hated him at that point, thought he was immature and naieve for believing his position in the ministry meant anything, it didn't, but it always confused Percy the way they handled it, as if he was a traitor for making a mistake at 19. They'd never been quite the same after that but he guesses it was never quite right. He felt like glass, cracking under his familys touch, however overdramatic that was. Everything felt pointless when he did it, headboy was trivial and grades were expected.
Percy was diagnosed with autism at 21 years old, he went to some muggle doctor Oliver recommended and talked about his feelings or something equally as useless. After almost a year of waiting they finally got the results back. He felt known but angry, like he finally had a solid description of himself and couldn't share it with the people he loved. Percy knew what his mum would say, talking about muggle nonsense and such. But he tried not to care and he eventually didn't. Oliver was there smiling at him like its all okay and his destruction could be prevented through a good old fashioned true love kiss.
Percy thinks Oliver was the best thing to ever happen to him, he was lovely. He struggled with his own ADHD, diagnosed when he was young aswell as self-confidence as a whole. Percy loved him from the start, lying in Oliver's bed in the quiet gryfindoor dorms whilst he ranted about the newest Quiddich techniques, he was honest and patient, allowing Percy to rant about his own problems whilst being straight forward and always giving his opinion, good or bad. They grew up, they had fights and they talked about feelings but it was just easier with Oliver. Easier than things had been for... well ever.
And then they had Kayla, this amazing and energised girl with the cutest smile and the biggest heart. They managed to buy a house with Oliver's new wage and they adopted Kayla. A few years later, Jesse joined. A small quiet boy who loved drawing anything he saw, Percy had a box full of his best childhood drawings, of their family mainly. He was too sentemental for his own good, he'd be a hoarder if it wasn't for Oliver. Then, after quite a few more years, Nat joined. She was just a baby, with piercing green eyes and a freckled nose. They were all perfect and so wonderfully different.
That was something that bothered him, the question he was always begging to ask but to afraid of the answer, how could someone be so outwardly open and yet so closed minded, how could a parent make their kid feel like that. His children were so vastly different and he tried his best to keep his attention duely divided, he couldn't imagine doing that with seven children and he knew it was near impossible. He was insecure about having kids, scared that he would mess them up somehow, that he was somehow unworthy to care for something so malleable, so pure and unprepared for the destruction to come. Oliver had talked to him though, told him that the best they could do was try and that they'd take it one step at a time. So they did, and Percy couldn't imagine doing anything to harm them, to refuse their identities.
But he tried to keep his mind off it, tried to focus on the now and his perfect husband and amazing kids. They were his family, now and forever.
Percy climbed into bed with Oliver, after diligently putting their kids to bed (and reading three bedtime stories to Nat), and prepare to go to sleep.
Before the doorbell rang, loud in the safe quiet of the house, Oliver smiled and said he'd go check it wasn't important. It was five minutes of mumbled talking before Oliver tried to yell for him whilst whispering, a difficult task that took too long in anyones opinion. Percy finally got the message and walked downstairs.
Oliver was ushering in Ginny. She was sobbing, her hair a mess and her clothes crumpled.
"I-I'm sorry I didn't know where to go"
