Chapter 1
Ruan Mei was sitting in her lab, doing absolutely nothing productive. It felt good to just relax after her recent experiment had gone wrong, especially after having to clean up the mess that had come along with her failure.
The apathetic scientist had combined the DNA of a Xianzhou native, with one of her catcakes, resulting in a creature that can only be described as horrifying. It had the adorable face of a cat, but it walked on four human legs.
The creature trashed her lab, after playing tag with one of the experiments, and even bit screwllum's leg during a meeting. To this day, Ruan Mei has no idea how it got out of its enclosure.
But as always, as soon as Madame herta, #83 of the genius society, had heard of her unfortunate failure, she rushed over to her lab to congratulate Ruan Mei. Because as herta always says “Failure's are the most precious things to geniuses.” A rather frustrating truth.
Herta burst through the doors of Ruan Mei’s previously peaceful lab, with three of her loyal puppets following behind her. She was flying on a comically large key, smiling smugly. Cute.
“Ruan Mei! This is your second failure this month! You, my friend, are on a roll!” Ruan Mei rolls her eyes playfully, finding her antics endearing.
“Most people wouldn't be so enthusiastic about that fact, Herta.” She sighs, spinning her around to face her completely.
Herta puts her hands on her hips, clearly pleased to have Ruan Mei's undivided attention. “Most people aren't the smartest, Meimei. But enough about that, here, I prepared you some sweets”. Herta hands her a plate of various cookies, candies and chocolate.
Ruan Mei smiles, grateful for the store-bought treats, Herta is extremely intelligent, but she can't bake to save her life. But, if she's being honest with herself, Ruan Mei wouldn't care if Herta gave her burnt spinach on a plate, she'd still eat it, simply because her beloved genius gave it to her.
