There's only so far new money goes/There's more to see than can ever be seen
Rita Skeeter, 6th of August, 1981. Earlier this year it was revealed that the infamous Black family, known for owning one of the biggest clock-making companies, have been abusing their children for generations. Photos of Walburga Black, the sister of Alphard Black (owner of Blackwind clock), were being spread everywhere. The photos? It showed her beating her oldest son Sirius Black with a belt.
The Black family have never been very known for being peaceful and nice, often ending up in the tabloids about their aggressive nature during business hours. But recently it has been weirdly quiet about the scandals of Blackwind clock, ever since Alphard Black took over the company. Even if the negative feedback was dying down, the positive feedback was increasing ever since Alphard revealed his heir to the world, namely, Sirius Black. Sirius has been a true phenomenon ever since his public debut at the young age of 13, gaining a huge female audience, featuring in multiple famous magazines and TV shows.
So when the photos of Walburga abusing her oldest son were leaking to the press it was no surprise Sirius’ fans were going wild. The young star, just turned 14 when these were released, was in the spotlight more than he ever had been, becoming an international sensation. The photos leaked also led to his cousin, Andromeda Tonks (20 years old), speaking out about her experience growing up in a Black household.
“It was absolutely terrible,” She said to this newspaper, back in february. “My mom forced me and my sister to do ballet, which of course isn’t a bad sport, but my mom was a bad mom so it led to us all developing eating disorders. Well, you won’t hear Bella or Cissy admit to that, but it’s the truth [...] Oh, and getting hit was nothing weird either. My dad used to hit us a lot as kids when we touched the presents under the Christmas trees before christmas. I won’t say I’m shocked at the photographs of Walburga doing the same thing to Sirius. Oh, I didn’t mean it like that, I have great sympathy for Sirius. He’s my favourite cousin [...] If I had to guess, the abuse has been going on for generations. My mom probably didn’t even know she did something wrong since that’s exactly how her parents treated her,”
Everyone has been dying to get a statement from Narcissa Malfoy too (19), the actress most known for starring in Friend of the World earlier this year, and we finally got one in May this year.
“Well, I don’t know what Andromeda is complaining about. It’s truly nothing weird, parents have hit their kids for ages,” She scoffed. “And the ballet thing? She’s being so dramatic. Our mother simply just wanted us to be the best version of ourselves, and it’s only natural to be skinny. Ask anyone, nobody wants to be fat and ugly.”
The third sister, Bellatrix Lestrange (24), currently a model working for Vogue, has been showing her support for Walburga too.
“Sirius was always a bit rebellious, it was obvious to anyone. I used to think it was quite funny if I’m honest. But I think it’s up to Walburga to decide what’s best for him. Maybe a bit of beating will do good for him,” She stated back in April.
Obviously these statements weren’t received very well, and even if Malfoy and Lestrange were quick to defend Walburga Black, all of this eventually led to a lawsuit in june. Some may say thank Sirius Black’s fans for pushing this so hard. The trial was going on for four weeks until the judge came to a decision. Sirius Black and his brother Regulus Black were to be put in custody of their uncle, Alphard Black.
The brothers have lived with their uncle for a few months and even if none of them has made a statement they seem a lot happier now.
