Tsu'tey
Night had fallen quickly over Harry and Jake, and on a whim, Harry felt it necessary to travel off of the riverbank. He had read countless texts on the creatures of Pandora during training, and he knew there were some in the waters and surrounding areas that wouldn't hesitate to eat Jake and him. Soon, he had realized that that wasn't the best idea, but he would take a traveling Nan'tang pack over whatever soul suckers in that river.
''Jake, put the fucking fire out.'' Harry snapped, trying his hardest to not turn his back on the Nan'tang pack that had surrounded him and his subordinate/friend. He had confidence in his skills, yes. He wouldn't have evrr survived those wars without some semblence of survival skills. However, these animals were unknown variables in this equation.
''No Harry, I'm not going to put out the fire. I don't feel like being turned into alien dog shit.'' Jake retorted, swinging his homemade torch at the wolf like creatures. Harry sighed, shaking his long hair around. He felt his queue hit the back of his thighs, and for once, he cursed the fact that his hair just had to be that long.
''Jake, just put out the fire before someone else does it for you.'' Yeah, Harry could feel the heart beat of the native in the tree directly in front of them, but that doesn't mean that he had to tell Jake. It was a woman as far as he could tell, but without a clear visual, he couldn't get an exact measurement. However, he could feel her soul, and judging by that alone, she wasn't a day over nineteen.
''Who the fuck is going to put out the damn fire, Harry?'' Jake was getting angry and frustrated, making him lose his focus on what was going on around him. This, of course, led to Harry saving his ass from a pouncing Nan'tang that had decided to try its luck.
The beast dug its teeth into Harry's arm and held on. Harry winced and tried to shake the damn thing off of him, but it was like the small creature had locked its jaw around his flesh. Not the first time, Harry was happy that the Na'vi DNA made him all that much harder to hurt. The enforced carbon fibers that his bones were made of made them almost impossible to break. One Nan'tang wasn't going to do much.
Tsaheylu, young one
'No, I'm not bonding myself to the demon dog.'
Just do it Eywa 'said', getting annoyed with his attitude.
Apparnetly, he was going to bond to the fucking demon dog, goddamnit.
'Fine'
Harry reached around his body with his unoccupied hand to grab his queue, being carful to not jostle the animal attached to his other arm. He didn't want to suddenly detach itself from his arm while he was handling the sensitive strands that branched from his brain stem. The Nan'tang had smaller queues sticking out the base of its neck, fluttering behind it like the hair at the base of his own neck. Harry draped his queue over his shoulder, being carful to not damage the soft pink strands that branched out the bottom of the protective black sleeve of hair.
''Alright, lets cooperate with each other now.'' Harry mumbled, sparing a moment to pray that this tsaheylu wouldn't last like an Ikran's would, before grabbing the Nan'tang's own queue and quickly letting it connect to his own.
Images and memories rushed through his already overloaded brain. The image of a litter of baby Nan'tangs surfaced, but he wasn't in a third person point of view. It wasn't like watching a memory through a pensive or even with legitimins. It was like he was living the entire memory as if it was his own.
He watched through the eyes of the Nan'tang as different memories flashed by in an instant.
''Now, get off of me.'' Harry stated, knocking himself out of the memories of his first bonded animal. The Nan'tang listened, instantly letting go of Harry's arm. Harry rubbed at the wound, staring at it passively as it knitted itself back together in seconds without even a silver line to tell that yes, there had been a wound there. The Nan'tang sat at Harry's feet, staring up at his new companion. ''Hmm, I'm going to have to name you now, aren't I?''
''Harry, there may or may not be a crazy demon lady standing directly behind you, and coincidentally, in front of me.'' Harry turned around at the sound of Jake's voice, noticing the absence of the harsh yellow and orange light that the torch had given off. The Na'vi must have gotten ride of the fire.
''Who are you?'' The woman said, her bow drawn and pointed directly at Harry and his new Nan'tang friend. Her simple sentence came out choppy, showing that the English that she had used wasn't her first language and she still had some trouble with it. The woman stood about six inches taller then Harry, putting her just under four inches shorter than Jake. Harry scowled, he must be destined to always be short, even on a planet full of giants.
''What happened?'' Harry asked, bending over to pet his friend. The bonded creature nuzzled his head into his bonded's hand.
''Well,'' Jake began, glad that the scary demon lady wasn't pointing the pointy objects at him anymore. ''After you pushed your own body in front of mine to take the viperwolf attack, thanks by the way.'' Harry nodded, giving Jake a smile. ''You connected your braid thing to the animal's ear thing and poof, all of the demon dogs from Hell stop attacking and left.''
''Huh,'' Harry sounded so intelligent to his own ears. Not.
"Who are you?" The woman said, her choppy speech sounded forced. Harry took pity on her.
"I am Hadrian." Harry stated in fluent Na'vi, startling the woman. "And that," He pointed at Jake. "Is Jake."
"You can speak, Dreamwalker?" The woman lowered her bow a bit, staring directly at Harry as she spoke in her native tongue.
"Is that what you call our people?" Of course, Harry already knew all of this.
"Yes. You are a demon in the borrowed body of one of the people." The woman sneered. "Go back to where you came from, Demon." With a long stride, the woman was gone.
"Hey! Wait!" Jake yelled running after her. Harry sighed before running after the pair, watching the plants and soil light up as he ran past them. He was stopped abruptly by Jake.
"You should not be here." The woman scowled, making a shooing motion with her hand. Harry knew that his friend wouldn't give up that easily. If there was one thing that Harry could count on Jake to do, it was arguing.
"No," Jake said, following her at a slower pace.
"Yes, go back." She said, getting ready to raise her bow.
"Stop!" Harry yelled, watching the atokirina float around above them. The woman sneered at Harry before looking up. The seeds floated down around the group, but mainly around Harry and Jake.
"Jake!" Harry yelled at his friend this time when he smacked away the atokirina. "No."
It lasted about ten seconds, Harry had counted, before the seeds dispersed, lighting up the space in an ethereal white light. The Na'vi woman stared in awe as the seeds floated away, before she turned her attention back towards Jake and Harry, a determined look on her face.
"Come," the woman said, grabbing Jake's arm. "Come."
Harry watched them run off, knowing that he would follow them. "Well, you ready?" Harry asked, looking down that the child Nan'tang. He got a bark in return, which he took as a yes, and started to run after the two.
___________
Harry watched in amusement as Jake tripped and fell off of the branch.
He had sensed the approaching group of hunters from below, but he had figured that the warrior woman would be able to sense them as well, but he was proven wrong when she looked just as surprised as Jake as he took a twenty foot tumble to the ground.
''I swear,'' Harry murmured to himself. ''You have no grace or finesse when it comes to this shit.'' Harry wondered if it was the facf that Jake was still wearing shoes. He quickly rulled it out after jumping down off of the branch, landing in the middle of the circle of Na'vi warriors. The woman wasn't wearing shoes either, and she wasn't aware of the incoming brigade.
''Ah, Harry,'' Jake said, his voice shaking as he stared at the large pa'li that the people were riding. ''Nice of you to join us.''
''Oh you know. I always have to be the one to save your ass.'' Harry had said the phrase in Na'vi, making the leader of the warrior group look at him in shock. Harry stared at the handsome face, and he knew that he was making this situation a lot more awkward and long, but he couldn't help it. The native was hot.
''Calm people, calm.'' Oh, and here comes the female to the rescue, swooping down like a fucking spider monkey.
''What are you doing with this demon, Neytiri?'' Harry noticed that the warrior only pointed at Jake, but he had not looked away from Harry for very long. Harry stopped. So the female's name was Neytiri.
''It was a sign, from Eywa.'' Neytiri stated, and Harry watched as all of the warriors seemed to tense up.
''Bring him.'' The leader said, gesturing towards Harry. He looked at Harry again, and Harry felt himself start to fidget in place. ''Bind the demon.''
Harry watched as one of the warriors tied Jake's hands behind his body and held a knife to his queue. Harry winced, one wrong move and Jake would be damaged for life in not only his Na'vi body, but also his human one. "Don't fucking movie Jake."
''You.'' Harry jumped at the sharp tone. He looked at the leader, only to see that he was holding a hand out to him. ''You will ride with me.''
Harry stared at the hand for a second, contemplated the pros and cons of what was being offered to him right now. On one hand, they were holding a knife to his best friend's queue, which was kind of a no-no. However, on the other hand, this was a born Na'vi that was offering him a ride instead of tying him up as well. He was being treated like a Na'vi, like people, not an animal or a demon.
Not giving himself a chance to really talk himself out of it, he grabbed the offered hand. Instantly, he felt the larger hand encase his smaller hand as he was hoisted up and onto the back of the pa'li. He looked down at the Nan'tang that had followed him out of the tree. Some of the warriors stared at the animal with apprehension, and some looked ready to shoot the poor thing if it so much as barked.
''Can you tell your men to not shoot my bonded animal?'' Harry whispered to his riding companion. He heard the Na'vi take in a sharp breath.
''Don't shoot the Nan'tang.'' The statement came out short and quick, but Harry noticed the change immediately. The Na'vi lowered their weapons, but they still looked hostile towards the pup. Harry sighed, knowing this was as good as he was going to get.
''Lets go.'' The leader said, kicking the flank of the pa'li.
____________
Harry watched the bioluminescent plants and creatures pass him by as they traveled. His arms were wrapped around his companion, holding on tight enough so that he wouldn't fall off but not tight enough for it to be uncomfortable.
''So,'' He said ten minutes into the ride. He had finally worked up his Gryffindor courage that he was supposed to be known for, and he would be damned if he let it slip away now. ''What is your name?'' He said into the man's ear. Harry watched the pointed appendage flick, picking up what he had said even with all of the loud noise around them.
''Tsu'tey,'' the man said, staring straight ahead at the forest in front of the group. ''And your's, Dreamwalker?'' Harry could hear the difference in the way that Tsu'tey had talked to him verses the way that he had talked to Jake. It almost was like he was trying to make Harry feel comfortable in his presence.
''My name is Ha'drian.'' Harry said, still gripping onto Tsu'tey's waist. ''And my companion is to wild for me to possibly identify.'' Harry didn't know exactly why, but he felt it paramount that the creature remained nameless and free.
''Well Hadrian,'' Tsu'tey said, looking at Harry for the first time in over fifteen minutes. ''Welcome to Hometree.'' The Na'vi didn't quite smile at Harry's awed expression, but his face seemed to soften a considerable amount. Harry didn't notice.
That was one big damn tree
