Chapter 3

Pov. Remus

Remus couldn’t believe it. He had lost all of his closest friends in just one day. How could this happen? Just the day before they had been laughing and having fun together to prepare for the full moon and now he wasn’t only fighting with Sirius but now also with James and probably also Peter.

He looked down at Lily, who was peacefully sleeping in his arms. It had been a few hours since Remus had let her in and after comforting Remus she fell asleep. But Remus’ thoughts had other plans than letting him go to sleep. Too much was going through his head for that.

Pushing the thoughts about his broken friendships aside, he tried to picture the next morning. He had to ask Regulus on a date. Just thinking about it felt weird. He had never really interacted with Regulus before except for their conversation in the library.

He also feared for Regulus wellbeing. After his forced outing Remus often heard Purebloods snarling about how being Gay is a sin. Since most people in Slytherin were Purebloods, Regulus probably has a hard time there now.

The only people he saw being there and standing up for Regulus were his few friends who consisted of his 2 dormmates, Evan Rosier and Barty Crouch Jr., a Ravenclaw girl named Pandora Lovegood and Dorcas Meadowes who was in Remus’ year.

Looking, again, at Lily sound asleep in his arm he knew that he hadn’t lost all of his close friends. He really didn’t know what he would’ve done without Lily. Lily had been the first person to know that he was a werewolf. She had also been the first person to tell him that it was okay and not his fault. She had changed his life and he would be eternally grateful for that.

Thinking of all the times where Lily had saved his ass, which were a concerning amount of times, he finally fell asleep.

Funnily enough he awoke the next morning by Lily saving his ass (again). He’d almost fallen of the bed but Lily, his hero, had caught him before he hit the ground. Hovering barely over the ground he turned his head to look towards Lily who was using all her strength to not let Remus fall.

But looking into Remus’ eyes made her laugh so hard that she accidently let him go and he went crashing into the floor. But just seeing Lily laughing made him laugh too so now he was lying on the floor laughing his ass of.

Lily stood up, still laughing, to offer Remus a hand. He gladly took it and was now standing on his two feet again. Finally being able to stop laughing, Lily smiled at him with such a warm smile that could make anybody melt.

“Thank you Lily. You were a real help yesterday.” Remus said wanting her to know his gratitude. All she did was smile at him knowingly and nodded her head a little.

“Shall we head to breakfast?” He then asked suddenly feeling very hungry. Lily nodded and then they made their way into the great hall.

As they walked into the great hall he heard an all too familiar sound. Sirius was sitting at the table with Marlene and Mary laughing about a joke Mary had just told, as far as Remus could tell. Remus suddenly stopped walking and could only look at him. Gods he had to stop doing that.

Lily, who obviously noticed his weird behavior, sent him a questioning look.

“What’s wrong Remus? It’s just Sirius.” She tried comforting him but noticed soon enough that that was the problem to begin with. Her eyes softened.

“Oh, I’m so sorry Remus” was the only thing she said before dragging him to the end off the table. Lily always seemed to know when he didn’t want to talk about something which he was more grateful for than ever right now.

Only concentrating on his food, Remus didn’t notice the two Gryffindors approaching until they sat next to him, one on each side.

“I’m sorry Remus. I had no right to be mad at you for leaving the dorm. I understand why you did it.” James told him, his guilt written all over his face.

“Friends?” Peter asked with a crooked head and a small smile. Remus response to that was a small chuckle and a playful eyeroll all while wearing a small smile. This was answer enough for both of them and their smiles turned into grins.

While eating and talking to his friends he continually threw glances at Regulus to await the best moment to ‘ask him out’. In the corner of his eyes he saw Sirius standing up to leave. This was his chance.

Without a word Remus stood up and got some sort of déjà vu leaving James and Peter at the table again.

He heard James mutter “not this again” as he made his way over to the Slytherin table. He stopped right before Regulus and was once again tapping his shoulder. He could feel the atmosphere in the great hall change and saw a bunch of people looking his way watching with anticipation.

Regulus turned his head to look at Remus and flashed him, to the surprise of almost everyone watching, with a big smile.

“Hello Remus. What brings me the honor to be blessed with your presence?” Regulus asked without a hint of sarcasm in his voice, obviously flirting with Remus. Remus felt himself blush even though he knew that this was all an act. But if Regulus could do one thing, then it was acting.

“Well Regulus, I was thinking about asking you on a date at Hogsmeade this afternoon.. how about I pick you up at 2pm darling?” Remus said with a confident smile letting no one see how nervous he was on the inside right now.

Regulus stood up facing him directly. Then Regulus came forward, put his mouth to Remus’ ear and quietly whispered “Good acting” before he pulled back, gave Remus a little kiss on the cheek and then walked his way out of the great hall.

The last thing anyone saw of Regulus was him winking at Remus and waving slightly before he disappeared behind the big doors of the great hall. Remus chuckled and then returned to his seat at the Gryffindor table where James, Peter and Lily were now accompanied by Marlene and Mary, all staring at him with shock written all over their faces.

“What?” Remus asked innocently as he seated himself again between James and Peter. None of his friends dared themselves to say anything until James finally spoke.

“What the fuck Remus!?” he exclaimed a little too loud for Remus’ liking. Peter and the girls just nodded along to what James said because they were all thinking the same.

“I just got myself a date. Is there a problem with that?” Remus answered James because it was in fact the truth. They didn’t have to know that this was an arranged thing. They were still looking at him as if he had asked out an alien.

“Yeah we saw that. But really? Baby Black?” James asked him, still not believing what he’d just witnessed. This was the first time Remus had thought about it from the perspective of his friends and he realized that he could understand their reactions so he tried to come up with an excuse of why they knew each other.

“His name is Regulus, James, not Baby Black. And yes. He is quite lovely.” This confused his friends even more so Remus hurried to continue his speech. “I met him a few weeks ago in the library and we started talking. Why are y’all so confused by that? Can’t I have friends other than you?”

This seemed to have caught his friends off guard because all of them looked at him with a guilty expression. Everyone except for Peter. Peter was still looking at him confused trying to piece his mind together. Remus was watching him with anticipation.

“You’re gay??” Peter then shyly asked and Remus was left dumbfounded. Right, they didn’t know. This was another thing he hadn’t considered before making his plan into reality.

“Uhm yeah. I mean- I’m not gay by definition, I’m Bisexual, but yes, I am capable of loving men” He then said hoping for acceptance of his friends. As he was looking around them he noticed that except for Peter no one seemed surprised of his coming out.

“Y’all knew, didn’t you? What gave it away?” Mary and Marlene looked at each other before bursting into laugher which James easily joined. Lily just smiled at him proudly.

“Dude, have you seen how often you stare at men? Sometimes it looks like you’re trying to remove their clothes with your eyes” Mary snorted and all of his friends nodded to that statement. Except Peter again. He just smiled at him still trying to wrap his head around this.

“If it makes you feel better for me this was new information. I’m proud of you by the way.” He then said and it warmed Remus’ heart to have all of them as his friends. They continued chatting for a while before Remus decided it was time to go.

“Excuse me but I think I’ll go now. I have a date to prepare for if y’all remember.” Remus smiled and then stood up hearing a mix of good bye, good luck and have fun, the letter obviously from Mary and James because how could they not. That was just who they are.

As he made his way back to the Gryffindor Tower he continued smiling. Today was going to be a good day and nothing could stand in the way off that. Not even Sirius who suddenly stood right in front of Remus.

“Really? My brother!?” Sirius asked him with anger in his voice. But this day was way too good to be ruined so instead of fighting, Remus just walked past Sirius wordlessly and made his way into the tower and then straight up into his dorm.
