SIRIUS had almost just died. At the last second, he regained his concentration and moved out of the way of the curse. His heart was thumping with fear and adrenaline. If he didn’t regain his concentration and if he didn’t get out of the way then he would have been dead. Then he remembered. If the curse didn’t hit him then it had to hit someone else. Sirius's eyes scanned the area around him. Harry was still by him alive and breathing.Β

He then heard a thud that sounded a lot like a body falling on the floor. His younger cousin that was full of hope and potential was now dead. She was killed by their older cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange. That fucking bitch he thought. Never would Sirius call a woman a bitch unless they really deserved it.Β

Hot tears streamed down his face as he looked at Tonks’s lifeless body. Tonks wasn’t supposed to die. She just got caught in the crossfire. A decision Sirius took to save himself caused Tonks to lose her life. Β Β

β€œI killed Nymphadora Tonks, I killed Nymphadora Tonks,” Bellatrix sang as she skipped out of the dark room.Β

Sirius clenched his jaw as he restrained himself from going after his older cousin. Just as Harry was about to follow her, Remus came up and held Harry back.Β

When you joined the people that were looking at Tonks’s dead body, he felt mad, angry, and sad for you. Tonks had been like a sister to you and now she was gone.Β

You didn’t scream. Instead, you slowly carded your hand through her hair. Her usual bubbly expression was gone. She looked calm which caused you to softly smile as hit tears streamed down your face. Even though Tonks was dead, she was free from the dangers of the war. Her fate was feared by many but she knew the risk and still put her life on the line to fight for what was right.Β

Remus put a hand on Sirius’s shaking shoulders which allowed Harry to break out of his grasp. Remus tried to get to him and pull him back once more. β€œIt’s okay, Rem. Bella’s probably gone now,” Sirius shook his head.Β

The three of you were the only people left in the room. You were still kneeling by Tonks’s body. Sirius and Remus were a few feet away from you. They wanted to give you some space. They didn’t want to bombard you. You were in a period of mourning.Β

Sirius had just experienced a life-or-death situation. He was on the brink of death. His life flashed before his eyes. In those moments he thought of the things that he regretted not doing. Among them was the action of not marrying you and Remus.Β

β€œWe need to ask her as soon as she’s done. I almost died today. I want to get married before it’s too late,” Sirius fiddled with his hands. He was nervous and still high on the adrenaline of earlier. He still could not believe he almost died.Β

β€œI still have the ring in my pocket,” Remus fiddled with all the items in his pocket and pulled out the small velvety ring box.Β

Sirius’s eyes found their way to you. You looked broken and dead inside. You didn’t look like you were in the mood to get proposed to right now. Sirius sighed as he put a hand over the ring box. You had just lost one of your closest friends today. You would be experiencing a roller coaster of emotions. β€œOn second thought, why don’t we wait a bit?”

β€œBut I thought you said you couldn’t wait,” Remus passed the ring box between his hands. Sirius gave Remus a pointed look. Remus put the velvet ring box back inside his pocket and let his shoulders drop. Sometimes Sirius could be a bit scary when someone didn’t listen to him. Β

You got up from your position on the floor. Someone would have to come to get her body. You would have to notify those closest to Tonks about what happened to her. No doubt would they be sad and angry and upset about her death. The Order had just lost a great asset to their team. To you, she was more than just an asset. She was your friend, your comrade, your sister.Β

You would miss her laugh and her smile. You would miss her clumsiness and the way she would come up with these amazing plans for missions right off of the top of her head. She was a talented witch and she deserved more.

β€œReady to go home?” You let out a breath as you rubbed your dirty palms on your blue jeans. Sirius and Remus looked at each other and then back at you. The three of you were exhausted and wanted nothing more than to just go home and rest.Β
