Pay up, Stella.
Cassie was officially done pretending.
After the incident, she had spent exactly three days trying to convince herself that her heart had not skipped a beat, that she had not been staring at Damian’s lips for way too long, and that she was definitely not thinking about his stupid green eyes every time she closed hers.
But there was only so much denial a girl could take.
Which was why she was now sitting on Stella's bed, hiding her face in her hands, while Natalia pumped a victorious fist in the air.
“HA! I knew it!” Natalia grinned. “I knew you had a thing for Damian!”
Cassie groaned into her palms. “Shut up.”
Stella, sprawled dramatically across her bed, groaned even louder. “Ugh. My best friend has a crush on my brother.” She rolled onto her stomach and gave Cassie a deeply betrayed look. “How could you do this to me?”
Cassie peeked up. “Technically, he started it.”
Stella gagged. “NOPE. Not listening.”
Natalia snickered and held out a hand. “Pay up, Wayne.”
Stella glared at her. “I hate you.”
“No, you hate losing bets.”
With a heavy sigh, Stella grabbed her wallet from the nightstand, pulled out a fifty-dollar bill, and slapped it into Natalia’s hand.
Natalia beamed. “Pleasure doing business.”
Cassie frowned. “Wait. You bet money on my love life?!”
“Correction,” Natalia said, flipping the bill between her fingers smugly, “I bet on your love life. Stella bet that you’d stay in denial for at least another month.”
Cassie’s jaw dropped. “You had no faith in me?”
Stella groaned into her pillow. “I was hoping I wouldn’t have to think about my best friend and my brother making heart eyes at each other! I thought you had more self-respect, Cass!”
Natalia smirked. “Turns out she’s just like the rest of us.”
Cassie sighed and flopped onto the bed. “I hate this. I hate you both. I hate him.”
Natalia grinned. “Liar.”
Cassie groaned. “Okay, fine! Maybe I like him a little.”
Stella threw a pillow at her face.
