Dance Class

"Just forget about him." Amelia told me, as we were seated at the Hufflepuff table eating breakfast.

I had been looking everywhere for Draco but I couldn't find him.

"I feel bad, maybe he wasn't feeling good yesterday." I worried.

"Y/N, are you okay? Since when have you worried about Malfoy." Leo exclaimed, after taking a bite of toast.

"I don't know. It just didn't seem like him yesterday." I said, looking towards the entrance.

"Who, Malfoy?" Thomas said, as he arrived to the Hufflepuff table.

"Yeah, Y/N keeps talking about him." Leo replied.

"Y/N, please you need to forget about him." Thomas looked at me as he sat down next to me.

"That's what I told her, she doesn't seem to be listening." Amelia shrugged.

"Whatever, I don't care anymore." I lied, while I grabbed an apple.

"So, quidditch tryouts are starting in a few weeks. Are you gonna tryout?" Thomas asked me.

"I don't know, I'm not that good." I replied, taking a bite out of my apple.

"Babe, are you kidding? You were really good last time we played at the Burrow. I think you should, that way we'd be able to play against each other."

"I guess that could be fun? I don't know yet."

"Okay, but can we talk about the triwizard tournament. I can't believe it's happening at Hogwarts this year." Leo said.

"What even is that?" I asked, confused.

"Well, its a competition where one student from each school competes in these deadly competitions and the winner receives 1000 galleons."

"That sounds exciting, are you gonna tryout?" Amelia asked him.

"Nah, you have to be 17 or older." He said, rolling his eyes.

"I bet some people are still gonna try." I replied, looking over at the Gryffindor table.

"Cedric's thinking of doing it." Thomas chimed in.

"If he does, I hope he gets picked. He definitely seems like the type to win." Amelia suggested.

A few days had gone by and I still hadn't been able to talk to Draco about our fight. It seemed that everywhere I'd go he'd always find a way to avoid me.

I was currently walking to Potions class which we had with Gryffindor, and I was hoping to see Draco before class.

I finally got to class and once I walked in I saw Draco sitting with Blaise, Miles, and Goyle at a table in the corner of the room. So, I decided to try and talk with him there.

"Hey." I said, as I walked up to their table.

"Hey, Y/N." Miles replied, but I could see Draco trying not to make eye contact.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" I asked, pointing towards their last empty chair.

Draco looked towards Goyle and raised his eyebrows at him.

"Um, that chair's for Crabbe." Goyle blurt out.

I sighed and made my way over to Harry's table.

I sat down next to Harry, laid my head on the table, and groaned loudly.

"What's the matter with you?" Harry asked me, frowning his eyebrows.

"Why are boys so annoying." I asked.

"Tell me about it." Hermione replied.

"What'd Thomas do now?" Harry questioned.

"Nothing, I'm talking about Draco."

"Maybe if you didn't hangout with him so much, you wouldn't be asking that."

"You know he's actually nice when he wants to be." I told him.

"I seriously doubt that." Ron chimed in.

Later that day, it had been announced that we would have a Yule ball. Which would occur towards the end of the school year.

Professor McGonagall had brought in to her classroom Gryffindor and Slytherin so that we’d learn proper etiquette for the ball.

Amelia and I were sitting down with Harry, Ron, and Hermione, when Professor McGonagall had asked someone to help demonstrate the dance with her.

"Mr. Malfoy, why don't you help me in demonstrating for the rest of the students." She said, walking up to him.

I could hear multiple people, including Ron and Harry, start to laugh. I tried my best not to either.

You could see the fear in his eyes but he walked up to the teacher anyways. They started going at a slow pace, but Draco seemed to know what he was doing.

Eventually, they stopped and Professor McGonagall told everyone to get in pairs so they could practice as well.

People started pairing with their own friends until there weren't many people left. I looked toward Harry and Ron but they had already gotten a partner.

I started walking up to Miles but he was halfway through asking Amelia. I turned around and the only people left were me and a few other boys from Slytherin, including Draco.

"Ms. Potter, why don't you join Mr. Malfoy. He's a very good dancer." Professor McGonagall told me, leading me to Draco.

I looked over at Draco and he seemed like he wanted to hex Professor McGonagall.

"Well." He said, holding out his hand.

I put my hand on his and he placed it on his shoulder. I then put my other hand on his other shoulder while he placed both of his hands on my waist.

"I don't know how to do this." I said to him, embarrassed.

"It's pretty easy, just follow my lead." He told me and started waltzing to the left.

I followed his foot movements but he was going too fast.

"I'm so bad at this." I exclaimed, almost stepping on his foot.

"It just takes a while to get used to."

We kept moving and eventually I started matching his pace. We were able to move in sync for a little bit, until Neville and Ginny had bumped into us, causing me to step on Draco.

"Watch where you're going, Longbottom." Draco yelled.

"I'm so sorry." Neville said, muttering something else under his breath.

"Pathetic." Draco said, walking away.

"Wait, Draco, can we talk?" I said, trying to catch up to him.

"What's there to talk about?" He said, turning around.

"Are we good?" I asked him.

"Yep, all good." He told me, then continued walking away.

I wasn’t sure if he was being sarcastic but I decided to take his word for it.

It was finally dinner time and we were all eating at the Hufflepuff table.

”How was dance class today?” Amelia asked sarcastically, as she grabbed some food from the center of the table.

”You guys had that too? It was pointless.” Leo replied.

”I don’t know, I actually learned a few things.” I said.

”Who was your partner?” Thomas asked me.

”Draco, he’s surprisingly good.” I exclaimed.

”Draco? That‘s weird.”

”Yeah, I know. But McGonagall practically forced us to dance together so I didn’t really have a choice. Who was yours?”

“Ivy, she offered to dance with me but she’s not that good.” He replied.

“There practically wasn’t any dancing considering the way she was throwing herself at you.” Charlie laughed, making Owen laugh too.

“Huh.” I said, looking over at Thomas.

”Hey, guys.” Cedric interrupted before I could say anything else.

”Hey, Cedric. I haven’t seen you in forever.” I told him.

”I know, I’ve been busy with school.” He replied, sitting down next to Thomas.

”We heard you were thinking about entering the Triwizard tournament?” Leo asked him.

”Yeah, I am, I’m really excited.”

“Well, we’ll be rooting for you if you do get chosen!” Amelia said.

”Thank you, I appreciate it.” He told us, then started adding some food onto his plate.

A few minutes later, Ivy and some of her friends walked past us.

“Hey, Thomas.” She smiled, then winked at him.

”Hey, Ivy.” He smiled back.

Amelia and I looked at each other and she had a confused look on her face.

“What was that?” Amelia asked.

”Nothing?” Thomas shrugged.

”Seemed like something” She muttered under her breath, then I slapped her on her arm.

”Should I be worried?” I whispered to her.

”I don’t know, but I don’t like her.”
