Counter-attack

Chapter 31

“Everything is alright now. Why? Because we’re here!”

All Might looked at his daughter and his student and felt fury course through his body. Bakugo seemed free and unharmed, but his little princess was tied to a chair, her eyes blindfolded and a small cut on her neck.

“You must’ve been scared. Everything’s alright now, young ones!”

He could see his daughter’s tense shoulders relax a bit at his words, whilst Bakugo was fast to reply that he hadn’t been scared at all.

Just then he heard Shigaraki’s voice.

“Kurogiri, bring as many as you can!”

“Nomus, I guess?”

Kurogiri soon revealed that the Nomus they had had prepared to help them were not in the agreed upon site after all.

“You’re not an expert yet, Shigaraki.” Replied All Might reaching out to untie the blindfold on his daughter’s eyes. “League of Villains, you underestimated everything too much. The souls of this youths, the diligent investigations of the police and our fury!”

He gave a soft pat to his little princess’ head and pushed her behind himself carefully along with young Bakugo.

After Kurogiri was out of the way, put to sleep by Edgeshot, he asked the question he’d been dying to ask since the moment he assured himself his daughter was safe.

“Where is your boss?”

For a minute, Shigaraki remained silent and then… purely black warp-gates opened up in the air and Nomus started to show up. Shigaraki seemed as surprised as them.

And then he watched with growing horror as Yumi and Bakugo started to choke on something just as black and vanished from sight, slipping through his fingers as if they were never there.

“Noooo!” he shouted, knowing what this meant.

The heroes were moving and they seemed to have the situation under control, so they all seemed to agree that it was better to leave things in their hands, especially as All Might was with them.

But Shinso couldn’t help being restless still. After all, whilst All Might being defeated was unthinkable, he did know what condition the man was in.

However, there was one thing he was sure of: the man wouldn’t rest until he had his daughter back safe and sound.

Neither of them saw the commotion caused when an unknown man appeared at the warehouse until it was too late.

Yumi coughed and fell to her knees, retching. That had felt horrible.

Next to her, Bakugo did the same, but he managed to remain standing.

“I’m sorry, Bakugo-kun, Yumi-chan.”

That voice… that voice was the same voice that Shigaraki had referred to as sensei which meant…

There was more sounds of retching as the known members of the League of Villains started to drop around them.

She slowly looked up.

The man had a strange mask covering his face, with tubes on either side of it, but apart from that he was dressed in a three piece suit like a normal person.

“All For One.” She whispered with fear.

“You know this crazy guy?” asked Bakugo next to her.

“He’s an old enemy of All Might.” She explained.

“My, my, you seem awfully well-informed. What, exactly, is your relationship with All Might?”

He sounded honestly curious as he asked that and she clammed up as she assessed the situation. There were some defeated heroes looking banged up thrown around but her father and grandfather were nowhere in sight. The location had changed too and now they were out in the open, but their enemy was on par with All Might and his eyes were covered so she couldn’t even use her quirk to help them get away.

This was bad. So, so bad.

She couldn’t think of any situation that would be worse.

“Sensei.”

“You failed again, Tomura.” His voice wasn’t even reproachful as he walked past the two students and approached Shigaraki. “But don’t be sad. Just try again. I’ve brought your associates with you too. Even these children. You consider them valuable pieces, don’t you?”

“The boy could be useful.” Admitted Shigaraki. “And the girl… she’s immune to my quirk.”

“Is she?” now the man sounded thoughtful and she didn’t like it. “Immune to your quirk and somehow related to All Might… Anyway, you can fail as many times as you need to, Tomura. That’s what I’m here for. Everything is for you.”

She felt sick at his words and the look of ardent fervor in Shigaraki’s face as he looked up at the man.

“Don’t believe him, Shigaraki!” she shouted. “He’s just manipulating you! That’s what he does, he manipulates people to do his bidding for him and abandons them when they’ve outlived their usefulness!”

“Indeed?” But then, the man looked up too, though it was hard to tell with the mask covering his whole face, and seemed to speak to the air. “You’re here too, aren’t you?”

The clouds gave way to a dark silhouette and a second later, All Might collided with the Villain.

“I’ll make you give everything back, All For One!”

“Will you kill me again, All Might?”

Incredibly to everyone watching, the Villain withstood the powerful attack without flinching.

Yumi held onto Katsuki’s arm before they were thrown away by the aftershock.

“I won’t make the same mistake as last time, All For One. This time I will rescue my students and send you to prison! You and the whole League of Villains you control!”

As All Might was thrown away from them all, Bakugo helped Yumi up and shouted.

“All Might!”

“Worry not, he won’t die from that.” Said All For One. “So leave, Tomura, and take that child with you.” He said signaling to Bakugo.

“What about the girl?” dared to ask Spinner.

“I have plans for her.” Revealed All For One making her freeze.

“But…” Shigaraki looked ready to protest as he looked between her and his master.

“Now, Tomura. I’ll bring her to you when I’m done.”

That seemed to somewhat appease the villain and he nodded.

Katsuki’s hold on her arm tightened and she took a slow step back as All For One forcefully activated Kurogiri’s warp-gate.

The League focused their efforts on Katsuki then and she firmed her resolve, despite her almost paralyzing fear, and helped him fight back. The members of the League where being pretty careful in avoiding looking any more than in her general direction, but she only needed one mistake and…

There.

It was Toga again. The girl had just jumped up to Bakugo’s back when she suddenly fell to the floor in a strange posture, frozen. However, she had left her own back uncared for, as she discovered when a knife was again at her neck. This time it was Spinner.

She could hear All Might’s desperate efforts to reach them over all the ruckus caused by Katsuki fighting, the teen still not having realized his classmate had been caught.

Yumi saw as Compress picked up Toga with his powers, encasing her in a sphere, but the man didn’t look at her and she had no other way to use her quirk.

And then, finally, she saw them.

‘If only there was a way that we could get Yumi and Katsuki out of the way, All Might could use his full power…’ thought Shinso.

And then Midoriya spoke.

“There’s a way! There’s a way that will allow us all to leave this place without having to fight but still saving Kacchan and Yumi!”

The plan was crazy, but it could indeed work.

“Explain it, Midoriya.” Ordered more than asked Shoto.

In short, Todoroki would open an ice path up into the sky, Tenya and Izuku would launch them into the air, Fumikage and Dark Shadow would steer them once they were in the air and Kirishima would be the one picking up Katsuki and Yumi. Todoroki, Yaoyorozu and Mezo had to take the chance created by the confusion of the enemy to slip away unnoticed as soon as Todoroki finished the ice path.

Yumi drove her elbow back into Spinner’s gut and launched forward towards Bakugo, who just wrapped an arm around her waist and used his quirk to send them up into the air…

Only for her to slip halfway through.

“Yumi!”

She plummeted down and into Compress and Spinner, who’d gone after them, throwing the three of them to the floor. At least they had slowed her down and her wounds were merely scrapes.

But she watched as her only escape route disappeared along with her friends.
