Chapter 32

The villains turned on her but in that instant something kicked them hard. Gran Torino had arrived!

The old man immediately covered her, making a comment about how Izuku was becoming more and more like All Might, but she could see he was worried about the fact she was there.

Then All For One did something unexpected, reaching past All Might to make sure the League of Villains got away and at the same time wrapping his black extensible fingers around her.

“Yumi-hime!” shouted All Might launching a desperate punch at the Villain that ended up hitting Gran Torino instead.

“I’ve been wondering for a while… what is your relationship with this student, All Might?” asked All For One retracting his fingers to bring her closer to him.

All Might just clenched his teeth and his fists, his gaze ferocious as he stared at his biggest enemy.

“She has nothing to do with this, let her go!” he shouted.

“I don’t think so. She knows too much for someone that ‘has nothing to do with this’. I wonder… will she be the kind that stops functioning when I take her quirk away?”

Her eyes widened at his words, but she had no time to feel fear as a hand wrapped over her head and she felt a pull.

She screamed.

It was pure agony, like her nerves were lit on fire and being stretched too tight at the same time. Like something was pulling at a part of her but couldn’t really pull it away.

She didn’t know how long it lasted before it suddenly stopped and she fell to the floor, sobbing.

“Interesting… I can’t steal her quirk… did you give her One For All? Is she the new container? But no… if she were it would be different…” mused the darkly amused voice of the man. “Oh, are you angry? It’s not that bad, she only felt a little pain… But I guess now she’s useless to me…”

With that said, All For One sent her flying into the air at the same time that he attacked All Might.

Yumi, for the first time, didn’t feel joy at flying but a nauseous sense of vertigo as her body stopped and started to plummet to the floor.

She clenched her hands over her mouth to contain the shout that wanted to escape so desperately.

“If you say you’re going to fight, I will too!” said All For One.

“Yumi!”

She heard All Might’s desperate shout from where he was holding off All For One and closed her eyes.

This wasn’t how she wanted to die.

But just as the thought crossed her mind, something soft wrapped around her and her descent came to a stop.

Yumi opened her eyes only to find piercing golden ones and a soft smirk on the other side.

“Sorry for being late.”

Yumi wrapped her arms around Keigo’s neck and cried.

“Hawks!” he shouted in relief when the younger man appeared just in time to catch his daughter.

As his little princess hid her face in the hero’s neck, All Might felt a new sense of determination. He needed to end All For One more than ever now, for she’d never be safe otherwise. Not as long as his enemy knew there was something that bound them.

“I won’t let you fight without a care.” Said All For One apparently unbothered that another hero had appeared in the picture. “Heroes have a lot of things they have to protect, right?”

“Shut up… Hawks! I’ll entrust her to you! Keep her safe!” he shouted before turning all his attention to his life-long enemy. “You always play the same with people! You break them! You steal from them! You take advantage of them and control them! You irrationally mock the people that are only trying to live their lives! I can’t forgive that!”

But despite the fact that All Might had downed him with a punch, cracking his mask, his enemy simply laughed. He could feel his transformation slipping; he didn’t have much time!

“What’s wrong, All Might? You seem worried about something. I heard that same sentence from someone before… from the previous holder of One For All… Shimura Nana!”

All Might stared, full of rage upon hearing her name, at the newly revealed eyeless face of his enemy.

“Midoriya, are you alright? Did you manage to escape?” asked Shoto.

Shinso listened intently even as they followed the evacuated civilians.

“What is it?” asked then Shoto, pausing.

Shinso stopped too, a frown on his face as he watched Shoto’s face pale more than usual. Impatient, he grabbed the phone from his suddenly slack hands and spoke.

“Pass me with Yumi.”

There was a moment of silence and then…

“Shinso, Yumi is not… she is not with us.”

“What do you mean she is not with you?”

“We almost had them, Bakugo used his quirk and then she… she slipped… we… we couldn’t…”

The phone slipped from his hand and clattered to the floor, but he was already turning. Until ice wrapped around his legs and he found himself unable to move.

“Shoto, let me go! They didn’t get Yumi! We have to go back and rescue her…!”

“It’s too dangerous, Shinso!” said Yaoyorozu at the same time.

“I don’t care, let me go!”

“Look.” Said Shoto simply, pointing ahead of them were the people were gathering in the square.

No, not pointing at the people, pointing at the big screen on top of the people.

His eyes found her before anything else, her face hidden on the Number 3 Pro Hero’s shoulder but her red-hair enough for him to recognize her.

Yumi.

And she was in the middle of a battlefield.

He could only watch with a sense of despair and uselessness as All Might fought on.

“I need to get you out of here.” Whispered a voice in her ear and she looked up.

Hawks wasn’t looking at her, but down below at where All Might and All For One fought. Then All For One sent All Might into the air, where he would’ve collided with a helicopter from the press if not for Gran Torino’s quick actions.

The arms wrapped around her tightened slightly and she unwound her arms from around his neck, tapping his chest to attract the young man’s attention.

“I won’t give you permission to fight this time.” Said the quick man.

“I don’t want to fight, I’d only get in the way.” She replied. “But I don’t want you to take me far either.”

The man looked around them and found a half-collapsed building close-by. He took them there and carefully set her on her feet.

“We can watch from here and I’ll make sure you don’t get hurt.”

“Thank you, but… if things get too bad…”

“I already said I wouldn’t let you fight.”

“It’s not what I want.” She said again. “My quirk can heal too.”

“Show the world your pathetic shape, ‘Symbol of Peace’.”

The smoke slowly cleared after the villain’s words and showed Yagi Toshinori’s weakened form for all the world to see.

He was just a pale skeletal shape drowned in the too big hero uniform of their hero, his eyes darkened from blood and his gaunt face framed by strands of blonde hair.

Shinso clenched his teeth as all around people started to whisper and then shout.

The truth was out, or at least part of it.

Only time would tell how the world reacted to it.

“Even if my body weakens and rots, my heart’s still the ‘Symbol of Peace’ and there’s not a piece of it you can steal!”

“This won’t darken your heart, then: you know, Shigaraki Tomura is the grandson of Shimura Nana!”

Yumi stopped breathing at that. What? Shigaraki and Nana? Oh, no…

“Little bird? What is it? Who is that Shimura they’re speaking about?” asked Keigo, sharp eyes having noticed immediately her reaction to the name.

“She was… she was All Might’s master.”

“And how do you know that?”

Yumi fell silent. Now that her father’s identity as Yagi Toshinori had been discovered, her being his daughter wouldn’t take long to be uncovered. However, she’d spent so long hiding that secret…

Then a sudden thought occurred to her. What if the enemy had heightened senses? With All For One’s tendency to hoard quirks, it would make sense that he would have one that enhanced his senses, which meant he could be listening to their conversation at this very moment.

No, she couldn’t let her identity slip right now.

“Take me to him.”
