Blue Fire
Chapter 12
Finding Todoroki wasn’t that hard, with the icy trail the teen left behind. Soon, the four teens were huddled together in a cave at the mountain, with a view of the entrance to the USJ.
“I think I see Shoji there. Tenya, Sato, Zero and Uraraka too.” Fumikage said, his eyes sharper than most.
“Which means the others must be scattered all over the training grounds.” Surmised Yumi.
“Should we try to reach out to the school?” asked Todoroki cutely tilting his head to the side.
“The only way out that we know of is the main entrance, but we’re too far away. Our only hope for that is if one of our classmates there manage to get out.” Pointed out Shinso.
“We need to focus on the people inside. We should try to get to the others or Aizawa-sensei.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. But when we’re close, we’ll remain hidden. We need to wait for the right moment to strike or we’ll be just be hindering them, though.”
With a look around and receiving four nods ―Dark Shadow having come out to listen to her― she explained her ideas.

Capturing one of the villain minions wasn’t difficult. They looked to be people picked off the street, unhappy with the current system and with no true idea of how to use their quirks.
Once they had one, Todoroki took the lead and got their plan out of him.
After that, they made their way to the plaza, but on their way there they found Kaminari, Yaoyorozu and Jiro.
Yaoyorozu and Jiro were fine, a little beat up, but mostly fine. Kaminari, however, seemed to be under the side effects of his own quirk, which is to mean he was a complete idiot. More than usual, at least.
Their presence complicated things, so it was decided Fumikage would lead them towards the entrance ―Dark Shadow firmly wrapped around Kaminari’s half-unconscious form― whilst Todoroki, Yumi and Shinso would proceed to the plaza in search for their professor and any of their remaining classmates.
They reached the place just in time to see the change in pace in the battle, with Aizawa-sensei getting wounded and then a strange bulky thing with its brains out giving him a beating.
Yumi brought a hand up to her mouth to stop it from making a sound as the newly named Nomu beat up her professor and she felt Todoroki and Shinso tense beside her.
She wrapped a hand around their arms to stop them from doing anything rash, not that either boy were really the type to do so.
And then the grey-haired one, Shigaraki, moved almost faster than they could see towards… Asui! She was there, standing right next to Midoriya and Mineta!
Their teacher then proved just how impressive he was and how much he cared for his students, erasing the villains Quirk before it could hurt Asui. But the Nomu soon planted his head back firmly against the floor and Izuku was in action… against the Nomu.
As soon as Izuku’s smash hit the Nomu and nothing at all happened, she had Todoroki build a wall of ice between Shigaraki and the Nomu and their classmates whilst she launched herself forward and out of Shinso’s reaching hands to reach their teacher’s side.
Luckily, an explosion at the entrance had everyone’s attention a second later and she saw with relief her father’s hero persona walking in, anger in every line of his face instead of the usual smile.
“Yagi… what are you…?” coughed their teacher with the last of his strength before losing consciousness.
“Todoroki, can you create a cocoon of ice around Aizawa and us?” she asked.
The boy nodded silently and did as she asked, asking no questions. Soon, they were enveloped in a thick wall of ice and the temperature around them dropped rapidly.
Yumi knelt next to their teacher and turned him over, assessing hiss injuries. He had both arms broken and probably some bones in his face too, but nothing truly life-threatening that she could see.
She took a deep breath and turned to the red-white-haired teen.
“You can generate warmth, can’t you? Can you also create fire?”
Todoroki nodded, looking unsettled.
She nodded back, firm.
“Then, please, I need you to create fire and launch it at me.”
Todoroki’s eyes widened, the burn mark on his face standing out now more than ever.
“Wha-?”
“There’s no time to explain, it won’t hurt me! But I need you to maintain the fire going until I tell you to stop, understand?”
“But… I… don’t have as much control of my fire…”
“That doesn’t matter: once it touches me, it won’t be able to hurt anybody.” She ground out, her eyes still fixed on their teacher. “Do it, now.”
And somehow, Todoroki found it in himself to trust her, unsettled as he was at her request.
The fire left his hands almost gently and soon came to lick at her skin and clothes, but something strange happened. When it touched her, the fire turned a soft blue and stopped burning entirely, becoming lukewarm under his hands. Soon, he was simply generating the flames, but they were out of his control.
The soft glow of the blue fire illuminated the cocoon of ice and cast strange shadows over their forms, but Yumi didn’t stop to contemplate them as her classmate did.
Instead, she moved her hands covered in that blue glow towards their teacher, focusing on his head and arms, and Todoroki was witness to something incredible.
Slowly, the skin on the man’s elbow grew over, reknitting together, and his bones realigned themselves in what looked to be a painful way, but the still unconscious man didn’t make a sound.
Yagi was healing Aizawa-sensei… she was healing him using his fire!

Meanwhile, outside the cocoon, things progressed.
Shinso watched the glow of the ice cave Todoroki and Yumi had disappeared in. he knew what it meant, despite never having seen it in action himself.
He felt so useless when she launched herself forward out of his reach, still did as he saw the battle rage on between the Nomu and All Might, but he had no offensive techniques he could use against this people. The Nomu didn’t seem able to talk and Shigaraki was too engrossed in the battle to really pay attention to a simple student like him.
He was defenseless in the face of this villains.
He would ask their downed teacher to rectify that soon enough.

The cocoon around them suddenly burst open and she let out a shout as she was dragged out by her arm.
Before she could even process that the Nomu was holding her, his left side was frozen over by Todoroki’s ice and her father was punching him.
The Nomu, still half-frozen, was thrown away from her and she dropped down to the floor next to Todoroki and Aizawa.
“Are you okay, Yumi-hime?” asked Todoroki, having picked up the habit of calling her so from hearing Shinso a few times and her having given him permission to call her Yumi.
She nodded before taking a brief look at where the Nomu and her father fought, the first still hals-frozen, before turning her attention to Aizawa-sensei. He was still unconscious.
She turned to Izuku and the other, who were standing on the edge of what amounted to the battlefield, and indicated them over.
She entrusted them with Aizawa and told them to run towards the exit.
And then Kirishima and Bakugo made their entrance.

Yumi knew she was her father’s weakest point and the strategical thing to do would be to step away so he could be sure she was not in the way.
However, that wasn’t the right thing to do, not if she wanted to be a hero.
She couldn’t step away the moment things got tough; they both needed to learn from this.
And so, despite being so tired she felt it in her bones from healing Aizawa, she waited for the right moment to strike herself.
But the Nomu… the Nomu regrew the arm and leg that had been broken off by Todoroki’s ice and All Might’s punch.
How could such a thing exist? Wasn’t its Quirk super strength or something like that? How could it have two Quirks…
Yumi paled.
She could only think of one way that it was possible but it meant…
It meant that All For One still lived.
