Chapter 6 Musutafu

Chapter 6

Moving to Musutafu was better for them than he could’ve expected.

Although the first few weeks were a hassle, with them not knowing the place or the people and having to get used to it all, it soon calmed down.

At Nezu’s prompting, he enrolled his daughter in a Middle School near UA, mostly so she wouldn’t be alone in a new place whilst he was working. Because as much as he only had three hours left of action time each day he made total use of them and was always out at random hours.

She adapted surprisingly well, or at least better than she had at Tokyo. She wasn’t popular by far, but she’d made a friend and that was a great step already in his mind.

He was so proud of her.

Even if her friend was a boy.

He shook his head to clear it of that line of thought.

With a sigh, he looked back at where his apprentice was struggling with a loose piece of scrap metal. The boy, Midoriya Izuku, was another good if unexpected thing that had come off moving. The boy would be the one to inherit his One For All, if he managed to get his body up to a level where it wouldn’t implode trying to contain all that power.

He sighed again as the boy fell flat on his ass when the piece of metal unexpectedly gave. Honestly, his little princess was in better physical form!

Maybe he should bring her to train at some point. Seeing her being better prepared than him might give the boy a push in the right direction.

He also wanted to know what she thought of his choice.

But that would have to wait till the weekend at the very least; she had her own training schedule after class every day and he didn’t want to distract her from it.

It was late by the time he got home from training Midoriya, but his daughter was still awake.

“Tadaima, Hime-chan.” He said whilst entering the dining room.

“Okaeri!” came her voice from the dining room.

His little princess was sitting with her homework in front of her and a warm plate of food left on the seat next to her.

“How was your day, daddy?” asked his daughter looking up and giving him her full attention.

He loved that about her, how she gave him her full attention even when he wasn’t All Might, the greatest hero, but simply her daddy.

“A disaster.” He sighed whilst sitting down next to her and digging into the food, which was delicious of course. “Midoriya-kun still has a long way to go and then I got called in for a burglar and a mugging nearby. Enough of that, though, how was your day?”

“It was alright.” Shrugged the fourteen year old. “Classes were boring, but I had fun trying a new move in the climbing club. Then Shinso and I came, did our homework and when we finished we trained some. You just missed Shinso leaving by a few minutes.”

“Yeah, it took longer than I’d planned today.” Sighed Toshinori before brightening. “I was thinking that you could come to the next session. Meet young Midoriya and maybe train together for a while.”

His daughter seemed interested in the offer and she soon nodded and asked a single question.

“If we’re going to train, can I bring Shinso?”

Toshinori thought about it. They could tell Shinso that All Might was a friend of Toshinori’s and had invited them to train with his apprentice. Or he could spend the day in his Toshinori form and let the three children workout together, not telling Shinso anything about All Might.

“Yes, just don’t tell him about All Might.”

“Great! I’ll clear out our schedule for… when is it?”

“He’s got 48 hours to let his body rest, so on Saturday.”

“I’ll tell Shinso tomorrow then.”

And with that, the topic changed so he could get an explanation on that new move Yumi had learned in the climbing club.

As always, Shinso rang the bell punctually in the morning and Yumi pressed a kiss to her dad’s forehead before sprinting out the door. On her way out, she grabbed Shinso’s hand and dragged him after her, much to the boy’s obvious resignation.

She couldn’t help a laugh at his annoyed expression.

“Come on, Shinso-kun, cheer up! Today we’re getting inscribed in UA’s entrance exam!”

Shinso just grumbled something at her. He knew that she could get a recommendation to enter without all the hassle of the exam, but she’d stubbornly refused it on the grounds that they would both enter by their own means.

Shinso still didn’t have it clear that they would, especially him with his Quirk not being oriented to frontal confrontation, but he was grateful for her enthusiasm. He wouldn’t begrudge her if she accepted a recommendation, but the fact she was ready to bet her career on them entering was heart-warming if also stupidly her.

The purple-haired teen hurried his steps to catch up to her and grabbed her hand more normally now that she wasn’t dragging him.

“By the way, there’s been a change of plans for the weekend.” Said the red-haired girl. “We’re training with dad’s student, if it’s alright with you.”

“With… what was his name again?”

“Izuku-kun.” She answered him without hesitation. “He’s trying to get into the UA too.”

“So he’s the enemy.” Joked Shinso with his usual dead-pan voice.

“Basically.” Snickered the girl. “It should be fun.”

“I’m sure.”

Meeting Izuku was not at all as Shinso had expected. He knew it was the first time Yumi-hime met the other boy, and he knew in an analytical purely platonical way that she was also a very pretty girl, but the level of awe the green-haired boy showed at her being presented as Yagi-san’s daughter was disproportionate.

of course, what Shinso couldn’t have known was that Midoriya knew Yagi as another person altogether, and what he was actually so over the moon about, was the fact his favourite all-time hero had a daughter.

Once introductions were out of the way, they all got down to business.

Shinso had once wondered how someone as sickly and emaciated looking as Yagi-san could hope to train someone with the objective to enter the best hero academy in the country.

After the first time the man helped him and Yumi train, however, that doubt had disappeared. The man was a harsh taskmaster, having them repeat an exercise as many times as it was needed for them to get it perfectly and pushing them always further than they’d thought they could get.

That day was no different. In fact, he would say the man was pushing them harder than he usually did. But one look at Izuku’s mounting enthusiasm as he was challenged by them both and he could understand the reasons.

By the end of the day, the three teenagers could barely move, even when Toshinori happily announced he’d pay for dinner that day.

But a healthy rivalry was born out of it.

The final exams came and went and before they realised it, they were getting ready for the holidays.

Toshinori was bringing his daughter to Tokyo, knowing that when she entered Hero Academy she wouldn’t have much time to relax and wanting them to make one last family trip before that.

He left Izuku with clear instructions on what exercises to keep doing whilst he was gone for those two weeks and made a note to himself to up the boy’s training once he returned. After all, they only had till the holidays ended to get him into shape to stand as a vessel for One For All.

Not that he thought the boy wouldn’t do as he said. If anything, they boy was at risk of overdoing his training, more than of slacking off.

He was proud of his disciple’s dedication, but as he’d taught his little princess from the very beginning of her own training, overdoing things wasn’t any better than slacking off and often just managed to have detrimental effects.
