Moony over Money
Remus and Sirius had made the decision to go on a trip together, not overnight, but a shopping trip, they had decided to go to to Diagon Alley, they were going to go the apothecary, Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop, obviously they'd have to make a stop at Quality Quidditch supplies, Remus decided they'd also go to Flourish and Blotts, Sirius was adamant on taking Remus to Florean Fortescue's Ice cream parlour too plus a little extra secret that he didn't mention to Remus.
As soon as they arrived Sirius began to gently drag Remus to Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop, they looked around, Sirius grabbing everything he seen to make one big prank on the entirety of Slytherin...They were certainly in for a 'treat'. Remus followed him with a soft smile on his face, he loved seeing how excited Sirius got, places like this were certainly his place.
Sirius bought the items he chose and turned to look at Remus "Are you not gonna get anything Moony?" Sirius questioned as he picked up his bags from the counter, "There's loads of stuff in here"
"Jokes and pranks are more your specialty Pads, none of this appeals to me" Remus patted Sirius on the arm "Where are we off to next? we can go to Quality Quidditch supplies, after all, your team did win the match yesterday" Remus smiled and began to walk towards the door with Sirius nodding and walking along side him.
Remus spotted a broom in the shop window of Quality Quidditch, the newest broom there, Remus looked at it as they walked in, Sirius was already preoccupied with getting other supplies to notice what Remus was doing, Remus walked over to the counter and asked to purchase the broom, he paid and had it wrapped, Remus never shopped expensive but he had been saving up for this broom, because he knew Sirius would like it.
Sirius came out of the shop holding another bag, he looked around with a panicked expression until he spotted Remus "There you are Moony, Jesus you scared me, you just vanished, I thought you had been kidnapped!" This caused Remus to start laughing.
"You really thought I would be kidnapped? Pads that is the funniest thing I have ever heard, you walk around with thousands in your pockets and your never worried it could be robbed, you're more likely to be kidnapped, you're rich!" Remus laughed for a while then calmed down "Anyway you absolute idiot, I bought something for you!"
Sirius gave a confused look to Remus, he had always told Remus that he never needs to buy him anything and that their friendship is enough, so this had came as a shock to Sirius. Remus passed the wrapped broom to Sirius with an excited smile on his face.
Sirius took the broom and began unwrapping it, he looked it up and down and smiled wider than he ever had before, he had already purchased this broom a few days ago when it first came out, he just hadn't used it yet, but as soon as he seen looked at the broom from Remus he knew that this would be the one he would use forever.
"Moony, you didn't need to buy me this, honestly" Sirius began to tear up slightly "God I love you, you're genuinely my best friend, please never lose your kindness"
Remus' scrunched up his face jokingly in disgust "Ruined the moment padfoot, ruined the moment" They both laughed at this comment "Can we go check out some of the books in Flourish and Blotts? I wanna see what I'll buy when I'm next here"
"Yeah of course!" They both walk down the road to Flourish and Blotts, Sirius unable to not admire his new broom. They both enter the shop and and idea strikes Sirius but he says nothing, walking around the shop he takes note of every book that Remus shows interest in, he remains quiet still not saying anything, by the time Remus has finished browsing he notices Sirius walking over to the counter and reading off a list, he walks over confused and hears every single book he wanted being read off.
"Sirius what are you doing! It'll cost to much!" Remus panics slightly knowing he wouldn't be able to afford it all himself, he tries to stop Sirius from reading off the list, to which in response Sirius grabs Remus' hand and keeps him at arms length, once he's finished reading he looks up at the cashier
"I want this all sent to Hogwarts for Remus Lupin" Sirius hands the money over and Remus just stands there stunned as it happens, he doesn't speak he just stares at the money then at Sirius
"You don't need to pay of it, I can come back another time and get them one by one, please don't feel like you have to spend all that money on me Pads" Remus finally speaks as him and Sirius begin to walk out of the shop, Sirius just shrugs his shoulders "It's nothing really, just a bit of money, plus, you bought me the broom, it's only fair" Sirius chimes
Remus sighs as Sirius buys them both an ice cream "Moony, there's one last place I want to take you, is that okay?" Sirius says as he passes the ice cream over to Remus, Remus eats the ice cream as he looks at Sirius confused "Where is it you wanna go Pads?" Sirius just responds with a smile and a teasing "You'll seeeeee" Remus sighs and agrees not knowing where they're going.
Sirius and Remus walk for roughly half an hour before arriving outside an expensive jewellery shop, Remus looks at Sirius confused as they both walk in.
"Mr Black! How lovely to see you here again! Is your father not with you?" A man polishing an expensive diamond and gold watch spoke as he placed it down to greet Sirius "I see you've brought a friend with you, should you not both be in school? I certainly hope you're not skipping Mr Black, if you are I'll have to tell your father"
"No, No we're on break, and my father is at home he won't be here today, actually I'm here to purchase a necklace" Sirius walks over to a case of expensive jewellery and gems "Solid gold, and I want the letter R engraved on a charm attached to it"
"What lucky lady is this for Mr Black?" The man teases as he begins engraving the letter onto a diamond charm with a gold backplate, he delicately attaches the charm to the chain and he places it in a silk bag with a cloth inside to clean
"Yeah Sirius, what lady are you giving this to? You never told me you had a girlfriend?" Remus chimes in with a hint of jealousy in his voice as Sirius pays for the necklace and places it in his pocket
Sirius smiles ignoring the questions "Thank you again for this, I'll tell my father about your excellent work as usual" He thanks the man as they leave, Remus unhappy but hiding it, he didn't want to admit his feelings for Sirius but he was jealous over the girl he assumed to be receiving the necklace
Sirius and Remus walk for a moment before Sirius stops and takes the necklace out his pocket not letting Remus see "Moony stop a sec, don't turn around just look forward alright?"
Remus stands still confused "Is everything okay Sirius? Why can't i turn around" Remus feels something cold touch his neck causing him too shiver slightly
"Okay, now you can look" Sirius says excitedly as Remus stares at the necklace he placed on him "Sirius no.. You've already spent so much on me, you shouldn't have bought this, I heard how expensive it was" Remus looks up at Sirius confused and concerned
"Moony, I'd spend all the money in the world on you, You're everything to me, you deserve this, you really are my best friend" Sirius smiles as he says those word
Remus smiles happily hearing those words, yet those words haunt him at the same time. Specifically one word.
