Chapter 3
"Ugh," Sirius groaned, "What time is it."
He grabbed his wand from the nightstand, silencing the clock he had charmed earlier as an alarm. It was eight. Not too painfully early, but still too much for a Saturday. Remus groaned quietly next to him, but he was still asleep- it was beyond Siriud as to how. Remus always slept like a log when they were at home, though. He got up to make breakfast, leaving Remus to sleep.
He cracked a few a few eggs on the pan, and then went quickly to get the newspaper from his welcome mat. He glanced at the headlines, then tossed it in the bin. He was still in his pajamas, a Cannons set, which Regulus had gotten him on his 14th birthday. He sighed, still recovering from waking up.
Definitely not a morning person.
He planned to go visit Peter today, which was the only reason he got himself up so early. He didn't know how he managed in Hogwarts, if he was completely honest. Regardless, he wanted to see just what the fuck was Peter up to that he would send him exactly what he needed to get Remus the moon.
Even though he might've eventually managed to figure out the magic to shrink something so entirely massive, he couldn't deny that his opinion of Peter wasn't at least a little bit better than what it was before.
Remus had suggested it, too, to go visit him. They hadn't seen him since graduation after all, and he seemed to be going quiet with the marauders. Sirius scrambled the eggs on the frying pan, getting out a set of two plates. Both of which were green, with two red painted strawberries on the rim.
He hated mornings, but he was a little excited to see what in God's name was going on with Peter, and this extreme technology that he'd funded from God knows where.
"Morning," Remus said, walking into the kitchen. He hugged Sirius from behind while he was moving the eggs onto their respective plates. "And thank you."
"Mhm," Sirius smiled. Mornings weren't really that bad if he thought about it. "Good morning."
Remus brought the eggs over to the table and poured them both a glass of orange juice- both glasse matching strawberries with the plates.
"Do you want with me to go with you to Peter's?" Remus asked. They had talked about Sirius going the night before, but he wasn't sure if he would sound too pushy asking Remus to come with him. They were both pretty busy, usually.
"Would you be okay on the bike?" Sirius tried not to sound too hopeful. Remis had gotten pretty good at dealing with his fear of heights, but it still took a lot to convince him to go for a ride with Sirius.
"I think so, yeah," Remus smiled. Sirius would never get over the warmth in he chest whenever he did that. He continued, "I don't like spending the whole day without you."
"Oh." Sirius did often have to leave for missions from the ministry. Remus occasionally got his own from Moody, but he often had the apartment to himself during the week. He set one hand over Moony's own. "I know. I'm sorry."
"You don't have to apologize." He clasped Sirius hand in his own, thumbs sliding over his wrist. It was because of the war, that neither of them pressed further on it. It wasn't something they liked to talk about often, and it was nice to keep the parts of their life that they could, separate.
They left not too long after, with Sirius promising to make a few stops along the way to ease Remus' anxiety. Peter live quite a ways North, they found. So, it would take a few hours, even with all of the charms Sirius had added. Their first stop was a gas station, about 30 minutes into the ride. Sirius needed to pee.
"You're ridiculous," Remus said, "We just left the apartment."
"I'll let you buy snacks." Remus was quiet, but Sirius could feel him laughing against his back as they landed.
They were both in muggle clothes. Remus had on his Dr Marten boots and drainpipe jeans, not much different from when he came to Hogwarts; pf course, with the exception that his hair no longer had to be shaved every summer. To his humor, he had caught Sirius staring more than a few times. When they arrived at the of the ridiculously red painted gas station, Sirius disappeared behind the back while Remus went inside. Remus came out again, only a few minutes later, with two grocery bags full of food.
"What the fuck do we need that much food for?" Sirius asked, wait for him with leg propped up against the wall.
