Chapter 15
Earlier that evening
Professor McGonagall noticed one of the owls holding a Hogwarts acceptance letter landing before her. McGonagall frowned, it would seem that the child in question was somewhere the bird couldn’t access. She made a mental note that she needed to bring it up with Dumbledore later. McGonagall finished looking through the remainder of the Hogwarts students letters of accepting attendance to the school before taking the unsent letter with her to Dumbledore’s office.
“Sugar Quills.” She said to the gargoyle and the entranceway opened for her.
As she entered the room, she saw Dumbledore speaking to Snape and Flitwick.
“Minerva, is there a problem?” Dumbledore asked.
“One of the Hogwarts acceptance letters could not be delivered. I believe the child must be hidden behind powerful wards.” McGonagall told him.
“Hmm, I see. What's the child's name?" Dumbledore questioned.
McGonagall stared down at the letter and for a moment she thought she saw the name Harry Potter on the letter. However, as soon as she blinked, a different name was on the letter. The address seemed to be unplotable, it must be under some quite powerful wards.
"It says... Seren Goetia." McGonagall said, frowning.
"I can't say I recognize the name. Is something wrong, Minerva?"
"No... I just thought I saw... never mind, I must be imagining things." McGonagall replied.
She was embarrassed that she had almost given the incorrect name. What had she been thinking? They had sent Harry Potter a huge amount of letters to his aunt's home just a few days ago after the first automated Hogwarts letter had been destroyed as well as many more to various other locations the boy had recently traveled to, it was honestly getting quite ridiculous how many places the boy would move to so often. Hagrid had left to go retrieve the boy to help with shopping for school supplies. She hoped Hagrid had enough sense to at least wait until the morning before knocking on the door of whatever place the Dursley's were currently staying at, they must all be asleep by now.
She shook her head, she should be focusing on the child still in need of their letter, "What should we do, Albus? How do we give this child their letter if the owls can't access them?"
"That is indeed troublesome. Fawks, would you mind bringing the letter as well as us to the child?” Dumbledore asked his familiar.
Fawks trilled in acceptance and elegantly flew towards them. He circled them, rapidly gaining speed before teleporting them all within a flaming vortex and they landed in front of what they assumed to be the newly-turned 11 year old child. Dumbledore, Flitwick, McGonagall, and Snape could only stare in shock at what they saw though. Four humanoid avian beings as well as as what appeared to be a humanoid werewolf and a winged sheep stood before them, staring back at them equally in shock. The silence was quickly broken by the female avian creature that resembled an albino peacock.
“Who the fuck are you? Stolas, is this your doing? Why are there humans standing before us?!” She screamed angrily at them before turning to the male being resembling an owl.
“Why do you assume that I did this, Stella?! Not everything that goes wrong is myfault!" He screamed back.
The female owl-like creature sighed before turning to the humans, “Okay. Please, follow us to the next room so we can talk. Our parents are going to be arguing for a bit longer.”
They nodded numbly before following the creatures into another room and quickly sat down within what appeared to be a lounging area. The two sibling avians sat down with the strange werewolf and winged sheep stood on either side of the children protectively. Loud screams and items shattering came from the room they came from.
“Hello, my dear. I hope you won’t mind my asking, but… what exactly are you?” Dumbledore asked softly.
“My brother and I are demons of the Ars Goetia. I’m Princess Octavia and this is my little brother is Prince Seren. Our parents are Princess Stella and Prince Stolas. The two standing on either side of us are Seren’s bodyguards. Collin is one of heaven’s cherub’s.” She pointed to the winged sheep before pointing to the werewolf, “And Vortex is a hellhound.”
“I see.” Dumbledore replied, confused as to why a creature of hell was being invited to attend Hogwarts.
McGonagall hesitated before deciding to speak up, “We have a letter for your brother.”
McGonagall pulled out his Hogwarts acceptance letter and held it out to the boy. The hellhound Vortex took the letter first and sniffed it to make sure nothing harmful was contained within it before handing it to Seren. Seren quickly opened the letter and skimmed over the words. Apparently he’d been accepted into their school of magic. He quickly handed the letter to Octavia for her to read as well.
“I‘ll need to speak with our parents before accepting.” Seren told them with a hesitant smile, “If I am allowed to attend your school, would I need to be in my human form?”
“That would be best.” Snape drawled out, refusing to show any of the enthusiasm he felt at being in the same room as demons.
I'd only heard about the existence of demons in passing by Lucius! I can't even imagine the types of potion ingredients I could find in this realm that is inaccessible to mortals! Snape thought to himself.
“You have a human form?” Flitwick questioned excitedly.
Seren nodded before Dumbledore gave a small clap, bringing the attention back onto himself.
“Oh, where are my manners? We haven’t introduced ourselves yet. I am the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. The lovely woman beside me is Professor McGonagall, the man dressed all in black is Professor Snape, and the man standing next to him is Professor Flitwick.”
Before they could reply, a familiar woman’s voice spoke up, “Isee. So you humans are from some type of school.”
Stella arrogantly stared down at the humans with crossed arms with a natural aloof elegance and her husband standing regally beside her, the very likeness of many purebloods back in the wizarding world. She gracefully strutted over to her children's side and held her hand out for the letter. Octavia quickly handed it to her and Stella skimmed over the letter, tense. She slowly relaxed as she read the name on the letter before throwing it in her husband’s direction. Stolas snatched it out of the air with a scowl before reading it.
“Hmm, I’m not sure about this. Seren is still so young, he only just turned 11 after all.” Stolas said.
Stella scowled before slowly smirking, “We accept. My darling starlight shall attend your school.”
“What?! Stella, why in hell would you agree? You consider humans below us.” Stolas exclaimed, baffled by her acceptance.
“I believe it would be best for him to attend their school, especially so he won’t have to be subjected to whatever consequences occur if news of your infidelity reaches high society.” Stella told him smugly.
Stolas growled, “Fine! Just stop bringing the subject up in front of ourchildren!”
Stella scoffed before turning back to the humans, “Just know that Seren must be treated as the royal prince that he is. Make an announcement to the other staff as well as your school's students. He’ll also be bringing his two bodyguards and familiar along with him, his safety must be a toppriority. Understood?”
“Of course, my dear. May I ask, what is your son’s familiar?” Dumbledore asked.
“Hedwig.” Seren called out.
A flash appeared before them before revealing a white-feathered phoenix. The humans’ eyes all widened in shock, why was there a phoenix, a being of light, living in hell?
“This is my familiar, an ice phoenix. In the human realm, she’ll be disguised as a snowy owl so there shouldn’t be any problems.” Seren explained.
“I see. Very well then.” Dumbledore replied breathlessly as he watched Fawks and Hedwig become aquatinted with one another.
“We will return to show you where Diagon Ally is so that you can buy your school supplies in the morning. What time works best for you?” McGonagall said.
“It’s fine,” Stella said dismissively before summoning a few imp servants, “You will be taken to a few of our guest rooms to spend the night and then we can all go to your DiagonAlly in the morning.”
They hesitated for a few moments before accepting, following the imps to their rooms for the night. They didn't want to upset their demonic hosts, unsure if they would survive if they became upset with them.
“Are you sure about this, Albus?” McGonagall asked quietly.
“My dear, Hogwarts herself decided this child should attend. Who are we to deny him his education?” Dumbledore replied.
“They’re demons.” She hissed back.
Flitwick glared at her, “No. Prince Seren is a child. He doesn’t deserve to be discriminated against because of his race.”
“I wasn’t trying to—” McGonagall said before being interrupted.
“Flitwick is correct, Minerva. Young Seren is just a child and he deserves to learn alongside his peers. Besides, he has a human form so there won’t be any problems for the more… extreme views on creatures some students may believe in. Severus? Is there anything you’d like to add?”
“No, let’s just get this over with. Now, I’d like to get some rest. I have a few potions to brew when we return to Hogwarts. Goodnight.” Snape drawled out before entering his room for the night, his robes billowing dramatically behind him.
Flitwick nodded, “He’s right. It’s best we go to bed now so that we will all be well rested in the morning. Goodnight, Dumbledore. Minerva.”
He then went into the room provided for him, leaving the two of them on their own.
McGonagall sighed before nodding to the headmaster, “Goodnight, Albus. I will see you in the morning.”
“Goodnight, my dear.”
The two then went to their temporary rooms and quickly went to bed, wondering how tomorrow would play out with the demons.
