Chapter 01

Sometime in 2016 - Ilvermorny

"Let's hope this works."
"It will work, we worked years for this."

There, in an unused classroom at the school Ilvermorny, stands a pair of twins. Red hair and freckled faces.
A ritual circle with long-forgotten runes, written in chalk, in front of them on the floor.

"We still don't know what happens when we go back."

"Let's just hope for the best. We'll take care of it when the time comes."

"It's just... I have that feeling that something will go wrong."

"Believe me I have that feeling too, but if we stop now all the work we did was for nothing."

"Yeah, you are right. Okay let's do this. We have nothing to lose."

One of the two takes a knife from a table at the edge of the room. He cuts his palm, so deep that blood begins to flow, and gives the knife to his companion. Who does the same and puts the knife aside.
They collect the blood in their hands and begin to paint runes on their counterpart's forehead. They both draw their wands and turn back to back. The two point their wands at their injured hand and begin chanting in Latin.

"Audi nos nunc domina Magica.
Revertimini tempus,
reduc nos ubi eramus.
Quod factum est non obliviscamur,
scientiam adepti teneamus.
Mutationem finis et ad praeteritum revertamur.
Votum erimus quod magicae per nos vivas.
Sic fiat fiat."

("Lady Magic hear us now.
Turn back time,
take us back to where we once were.
Let us not forget what happened,
let us retain the knowledge of what we have gained.
Let's change the ending and go back to the past.
We vow that we will let your magic live through us.
So mote it be.")

The runes on the ground and on their foreheads begin to glow white. The world around them begins to blur, if one of them opened their eyes they would not see anything but a chaos of colors in front of them.

And then... they're gone.

The room is empty, the floor without a single rune.
Everything was as it was before they showed up, as if they had never been there.

35 years before,
1981 somewhere in England

Two men who were believed to be dead take another breath at the same time.
They sit up, look at each other and start to smile.

"We did it."

And so Gideon and Fabian Prewett begin to laugh at the place where they were originally supposed to die.
