Memories

As the sky started turning the magnificent kaleidoscope of Pinks and Oranges, indicating the end of the days travel. The company broke up into pairs and separated to find a place to camp for the night. It was Nori and Ori who found the perfect spot to rest for the night. When the company came back together, Hermione started handing out tents for each set of brothers to share. She was setting up her's and Harry's when she stopped and looked around at the struggling dwarves.

"Here this is how to set up a tent, lay it flat on the ground, then push the red circle." Hermione demonstrated on Thorin and the prince's tent. The dwarves looked amazed by the ease of putting the tents together. It only took another ten minutes for the tents to be set up, the dwarves started giving confused looks at the tents, how in the world would three dwarves fit in one tent? Harry, understanding their confusion, explained that the inside was much larger than it looked on the outside. He invited kili and Thorin to take a look inside to show just how much bigger it was.

Hermione, having entered the tent before them, offered them a choice of Tea or Ale. Both dwarves chose the Ale. As they took a look around they saw picture frames dotted along one wall, stepping closer he saw different ones of Harry and Hermione. A few even showed a little boy growing up.

Hermione saw Thorin look at the pictures of Teddy. "That is my nephew Theodore, we just call him Teddy. His parents passed on when he was just a baby, so Harry and I raised him. We have always let him know that his parents loved him, that they died so that he would be safe. Oh how he used to love hearing stories about their adventures. He patrols with the rangers now."

Thorin only felt slightly guilty about being jealous, having thought that Teddy was her and Harry's son. He didn't know why he felt so relieved that they were not together in that way.

Kili was so engrossed in the pictures that he leaped out of his skin in shock when Harry started telling stories about the little boy.

"In this one Teddy was running down the hall to escape bath time. By the time this was taken he had already been stripped and was running as fast down the hall as his little legs would carry him, naked as the day he was born, it took the two of us and three elves to catch him." Harry told while chuckling. " in this one he was about six and he pranked Lord Elrond's twin sons. He had tied their hair together while they slept. All we heard that morning was the twins yelling and trying to figure out how to untangle themselves."

While Thorin and Kili were inside the tent the other dwarves got wood for the fire, Bombur quickly sectioned off parcels of meat from the rabbits that were hunted while on the trail. The smell from the stew that he and Bilbo had made was heavenly after a long day of walking.

Smelling the heavenly aroma that was their supper, the four left the tent. Hermione left the other three and set up the warding needed to protect everyone. This way they all could have a good nights sleep, because no one would need to be on watch. After double checking the effectiveness of the wards, Hermione grabbed a bowl, and after thanking Bilbo and Bombur, tucked in to enjoy her meal. Shortly after everyone was done eating everyone trailed away for bed.

Hermione smiled to herself as she reminisced on her memories of a tiny Teddy and all of the trouble he got into, she reminisced on the memories of Teddy, and all the pranks he had pulled as she started nodding off. Harry peaked his head in to check up on her. She had a soft smile upon her sleeping face. Harry quietly closed her door.
