Trip For School Supplies

After the old hag departed, Vegeta turned to his son, “Are you positive you want to attend this so-called magic school?”

Ryujin looked at his father with a determined look, “Yes, Father. I want to learn more about my mother.”

Vegeta sighed, “Yes, I have been unfair to you about your mother. We should have visited her more often. I wouldn't say I like the idea of you being around so many pathetic humans, but you have a right to know about your mother. I must advise you, son, that you need to stay sharp and look for any ulterior motives. That woman was far too interested in your former name.” Vegeta advised.

“I thought so, too,” Ryu replies.

“Do not be surprised if they begin to call you by your former name, but you must remember, you are a Saiyan Prince and my heir, and that all of these pathetic humans, magical or not, are beneath you.”

Ryujin nodded.

“When the woman returns, Kakarrot and I will accompany you,” Vegeta said and looked at Goku, who agreed.

“I'm going too; I'll have my mom watch Trunks,” Bulma said.

“I want to go too, Mom,” Trunks said.

Bulma looked at Goku, who looked at Vegeta. Vegeta gave Goku a nod, and they decided that they would all go.

A few days later, Professor McGonagall returned with Hagrid. She thought that maybe, Harry, or Ryujin as he was going by, would be impressed with seeing a half-giant. She knocked on the door and waited. Bulma answered the door and smiled at the professor. She invited her in and informed her that Ryugin was almost ready.

“I do need to inform you that we are all going with Ryu to pick up his school supplies. Vegeta said there was no room for argument.”

Professor McGonagall agreed. She hoped that Harry seeing the Magical World would leave him in awe. Once Vegeta and Ryujin came downstairs, she noticed they were dressed in Muggle clothes. The Professor introduced father and son to Hagrid. Hagrid's face lit up when he saw Harry. Professor McGonagall had informed Dumbledore that she had located Harry Potter, but he was living with a madman who claimed to be his father. But Albus wasn't worried; he thought by sending Hagrid, he could intimidate Harry's kidnapper.

So when Hagrid saw Harry, he tried to hug the boy. “Well, Harry, I haven't seen you since you were no bigger than a bow truckle.”

Ryujin scowled, and Vegeta stepped in between the giant and his son, “Touch my son, and I will rip out your arms and beat you to death with them,” Vegeta growled.

Hagrid was surprised, but he was sure he could intimidate this little man, “Look, I have known Harry since he was a baby, and I'm not going to let you stop me from getting close to him.”

Hagrid made the mistake of trying to push Vegeta out of the way. Vegeta elbowed Hagrid in the side so hard Professor McGonagall heard Hagrid's ribs break. Then Vegeta grabbed the giant and threw him through the wall.

Vegeta stepped through the hole that the so-called giant went through and loomed over Hagrid, “You think you can intimidate me? I have fought and killed beings four times your size. You are nothing but a flea to me,” Vegeta said with a vicious grin.

He turned to McGonagall and glowered at her, “Now, if your pathetic attempts of intimidating me are finished, let's get this ridiculous trip over with.”

Minerva walked toward Hagrid and healed his injuries, then told him to return to Hogwarts. Hagrid was more than willing to comply. Hagrid looked fearfully at Vegeta and apparated back to Hogwarts. Minerva offered a length of rope to Vegate and Ryujin, and Ryu scoffed, “What is this supposed to be?”

“It's a port key to take you to Diagon Alley,” Minerva explained.

Ryujin scoffed, “And right into a trap. I don't think so; my Uncle Goku will take us.”

“How?”

Goku was going to explain happily, but Vegeta spoke first, “It's none of your business. You only need to know that we will be there. Give Kakkarot the coordinates, and we will meet you there.”

McGonagall frowned but did as Vegeta demanded. With that, she apparated away. When she arrived at the alley close to the Leaky Cauldron, she was surprised to find Goku and the others were already there. She tried to hide her surprise but failed. Minerva decided not to think about it. She led the group to the Leaky Cauldron and was surprised that the two men and two boys could see the sign, but Mrs. Son couldn't. Now Minerva was even more suspicious of these people.

They entered the Leaky Cauldron and walked to the back to enter Diagon Alley. She tapped the bricks in the appropriate order, and the bricks parted. Minerva turned to "Harry" to see his reaction. She was disappointed that his facial expression had never changed. If anything, he looked impatient.

McGonagall sighed and told the group that they needed to go to the bank to buy Ryugin's supplies, “We'll get the money from your father's vault,” Minerva told Ryu.

“James Potter was not my father. I will not touch that money,” Ryujin declared.

“Then how will you pay for your supplies?”

“I'm sure we can exchange normal money for your weird money,” Bulma said, “I'll buy whatever Ryujin needs.”

Resigned, they went to the bank, and Vegeta walked into the bank, unfazed by the creatures outside. He walked toward the first teller and shoved the person in front of him out of the way, “You, Creature, will attend me now or pay the consequences.”

The Goblin looked at Vegeta, surprised, but he liked how this "human" spoke. The Goblin knew immediately that the person in front of him was a warrior and was not human. He smiled, showing off his sharp teeth, “Of course; how can I be of assistance?”

“My son needs funds to acquire his school supplies,” Vegeta told the Goblin.

“Does he have a vault?”

McGonagall was going to answer. She still had hope that Harry could make a connection with his father, but the boy's aunt stepped forward, “No, but I'd like to open one for him.”

The Goblin nodded and asked Bulma how much she wanted to deposit. After finding out the exchange rate, Bulma decided to deposit ten million dollars into Ryujin's account. The amount was equivalent to one hundred million Galleons. Minerva's eyes widened, but the Goblin didn't react.

“Since the boy is underage, we need you and his father to sign the contract for him.”

Bulma smiled, and Vegeta gave a curt nod. They all followed the Goblin to a private room. As they walked, Minerva whispered to the Goblin to perform a paternity test on the father and son. Vegeta smirked and looked at McGonagall, “Do you think you can deceive me? I heard everything you said. But I grow tired of your meddling. So instead of killing you, I will let you perform your test.”

The Goblin grinned. He loved how this person had no respect for Wizards and would annihilate them if he was annoyed enough. It put an extra spring in the Goblin's step as they entered the room to complete the paperwork. The Goblin explained everything, then had Bulma sign, then Vegeta.

“Now, perform this ridiculous test to prove to this hag Ryujin is my son.”

The Goblin nodded and handed a knife to Vegeta, who cut the tip of his finger and let a few drops fall into a wooden bowl. Ryu did the same without flinching. The Goblin swirled the blood around and poured it onto a piece of Parchment. Immediately their family tree appeared. At the bottom, it showed Vegeta and Lily; next to Vegeta's name was written his species (Saiyan). And next to Lily's name was written (Witch, Half Saiyan.) Underneath their names was Ryujin's name- Ryujin Briefs, AKA Harry Potter (Saiyan, Wizard.)

Vegeta smirked and tossed the parchment at McGonagall, “Are you satisfied now, human? Ryujin is my offspring and has nothing to do with this human you revere as James Potter.”

Minerva looked like she wanted to cry. She was positive that this man had kidnapped Harry and was only pretending to be his father. Now she had no other choice but to look at the two critically, and she finally accepted that Harry, she meant Ryujin, looked precisely like Vegeta except for Lily's eyes. Minerva nodded, defeated, and left the office.

Once their business was concluded, Vegeta, Goku, Bulma, Trunks, and Ryujin left the office and met McGonagall outside. She had finally pulled her act together and decided to treat Ryujin as she would any muggle-born child. She pulled out the supply list from her robes and handed it to Bulma; Bulma read it over.

First-year students will require:

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR BROOMSTICKS.

Bulma nodded and looked at her nephew, to who she handed the list, “What do you want to get first?”

Ryujin thought, “We might as well split up and get my supplies. Dad and I will get my wand.”

Bulma, Goku, and Trunks nodded and split up. Ryujin spotted Ollivander's Wand Shop, and he and his father walked toward the shop. The shop was described as narrow and shabby, with peeling gold letters over the door that read: Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. The shop's display consisted of a solitary wand lying on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window. The shop was tiny and empty except for a single, spindly chair in the corner. Thousands of narrow boxes containing wands were piled right up to the ceiling of the little shop, and the whole place had a thin layer of dust.

Ryujin and Vegeta looked at each other in disgust; Ryujin sighed, “I guess we should go inside.”

Vegeta nodded, and he and his son opened the door. A bell rang, informing the owner that someone had arrived. The place looked deserted, but Ryujin and Vegeta could feel a slight power reading, nothing too impressive. They waited for a few moments when finally, an older man with grey hair and silver eyes came around the corner.

He smiled at Ryujin, “I wondered when I might see you, Mr. Potter.”

Ryujin scowled, and Vegeta turned red with rage, but the older man continued, “I remember like it was only yesterday that your mother and father were in here buying their first wands.”

That statement got to Ryujin, “Since you seem to think you know everything about me, it will be no surprise that my name is not Harry Potter. It's Ryujin Brief, and this man is my father, not James Potter.”

Ollivander looked at Harry in surprise; then he looked at the man standing next to the boy who was scowling at him. Ollivander swallowed hard, then smiled, “Of course, Mr. Briefs, I apologize. Now shall we get you your wand?”

Ollivander went to the back of the store and brought out several boxes of wands. He handed the first wand to Ryu, and nothing happened. Ollivander took it away and handed Ryu several wands with the same result. Finally, Ollivander thought that the twin to Voldemort's wand would work. The minute he gave it to the young Saiyan, the wand exploded into pieces.

Vegeta scoffed, “These wands are far too weak to handle my son's power. What else do you have?”

Ollivander was at a loss; he didn't know what wand would work for such a powerful being. Garrick thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers, “I think the best wood that would work for Mr. Briefs is Aspen.”

Ryujin raised an eyebrow, “Why do you say that?”

“Because the Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is particularly suited to martial magic. An infamous and secretive eighteenth-century dueling club, which called itself The Silver Spears, was reputed to admit only those who owned aspen wands. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries.”

Vegeta got an evil glint in his eyes, “That sounds more like it. We'll take that one.”

“But sir, I don't have one available.”

Vegeta took a menacing step towards Ollivander, “Then I suggest you make one, Human.”

Ollivander gulped, “What would you like the core to be made of?”

Ollivander listed off the cores that he had, and Ryujin shook his head, “They are all too weak,” Then he turned to his father, “What about a hair from you in your Super Saiyan form?” Ryujin asked.

Vegeta contemplated for a bit, then agreed. Ollivander didn't understand what they were talking about, but he stumbled back when Vegeta started powering up to his Super Saiyan II form, and the entire building started shaking. His hair grew, and it turned from black to blonde. His eyes changed to blue. Once Vegeta was fully transformed, he plucked a strand of hair from his head and handed it to the wand-maker.

“I will give you by the end of the day to finish my son's wand, or you will not like the consequences,” Vegeta threatened.

Ollivander nodded and immediately went to work. He thought about asking for another hair, but he thought better of it. The risk wasn't worth his life.

Father and son met the others at Flourish Blotts, and Vegeta saw Goku standing in the corner with an amused look on his face. Vegeta walked toward him, “What happened?”

Goku laughed, “Bulma has discovered their extensive library and is buying every book they have. The clerk gave her a feather-light back, and she and Trunks are grabbing everything they can find.”

“Did they grab my son's school books, at least?”

Goku laughed again, “For the next seven years.”

Vegeta rolled his eyes and told Goku they should let his wife and son continue their search while he and Goku took Ryujin to get his school uniform. Goku agreed, and the three Saiyans left for Madam Malkin's robe shop. When they walked inside, Madam Malkin greeted them, and Goku returned the greeting.

She looked at Ryjin and smiled, “Is this your first year at Hogwarts?”

“Yes,” Ryujin answered. Madam Malkin asked Ryu to stand on the stool so she could take his measurements. As she started to measure him for the ridiculous robes, Vegeta spoke, “These robes are unsuitable for my son. They are too constricting.”

“But this is the standard uniform,” Madam Malkin answered.

“Does it look like I care? You will make them to my specification, or we will go somewhere else,” Vegeta said as he threw a bag of gold on the table.

Madam Malkin couldn't pass up the opportunity to earn three times the amount she usually charged, so she accepted. Ryujin's uniform was black, but the material was more fluid and conformed more to his body, giving him more freedom of movement. A cape was also made for him with the Royal insignia. Vegeta would make sure that Ryujin had new armor made before he left for an unknown and potentially dangerous place.

After his order was complete, Madam Malkin said she would have Ryujin's new uniform ready in two hours. After that, the three Saiyans continued to get the rest of Ryu's supplies. Ryujin stopped in front of the Quittich Shop to look at the brooms the children were fawning over. He rolled his eyes and scoffed, “How pathetic; they need to use a piece of wood to fly.” Then walked on.

The Saiyans continued to walk the streets when they spotted Bulma and Trunks walking toward them. Trunks smiled and ran towards his best friend; Ryujin returned the smile. That was the first time since they had been there that Ryujin looked like an eleven-year-old child. He and Trunks start talking and kidding around until the boys stopped an ice cream shop. They asked Bulma if they could go, and the entire family went to have ice cream.

In typical Saiyan fashion, they ate all the ice cream the shop had to offer until the owner closed because he ran out of ice cream and couldn't keep up with the Saiyan's appetite. Once they had finished their treat, Ryujin and Vegeta returned to Ollivander's shop to pick up his custom-made wand.

Ollivander barely finished on time when the two Saiyans walked in. Vegeta popped his knuckles, “I hope the wand is ready for your sake.”

Ollivander gulped and handed the box to Ryujin. Ryujin took the box and opened it. The minute he touched the wand, Ryujin felt his father's power combine with his, and the building shook with the wand's power. Ryujin smiled and nodded. He paid for the wand and walked out after his father without saying a word.

Ollivander sighed and clutched at his heart. He was expecting Harry Potter to be a replica of his father, James. But he realized that this boy was a replica of his father, only that Mr. Briefs was his father, not James Potter.

“I wonder what we can expect from you, Mr. Briefs,” Ollivander asked himself.
