Hogwarts Bound
After getting Ryujin's school supplies, they returned home. Professor McGonagall gave Ryujin his ticket and informed him that he had to be at the station before eleven. Ryujin nodded and took the ticket. After that, Ryujin and the others went home.
When they arrived at Capsule Corp, Bulma started working on a gravity chamber room that Ryu could take with him. She knew that her nephew would not want to stop training. Bulma also had his supplies packed in Capsules that Ryujin could keep in his pocket. The last thing Bulma worked on was a communication device that would work around magic.
While Bulma did that, Vegeta worked on making his son new armor. Vegeta refused to let his son arrive in anything other than new armor. Ryujin would wear the armor over his stupid uniform. While that was going on, Goku trained with his sons and nephew to make sure Ryu was in top condition, but he still allowed Ryujin and Trunks to act like children and play.
On September 1st, Ryujin said goodbye to his family, and he, Vegeta, and Goku left for England. Goku used his Instant Transmission to get them there faster. When they arrived, it was early in the morning, but the Saiyans decided to go to King's Cross Station to find platform 9 3/4. The platform number was odd, and they thought there must be a hidden entrance.
The three Saiyans walked around the station, trying to find the hidden entrance. As the station began to fill, people began to stare at the odd trio, but Vegeta and the others ignored the stares. The trio walked around the station until they passed close to platform nine and ten. The three Saiyans stopped and looked at the wall.
Vegeta smirked, “Do you feel that, Kakkarot?”
“Yeah, I can feel the power coming from the wall.” Vegeta looked at Ryujin, and the boy nodded, “I guess that's the entrance.”
The two adults nodded and walked through the wall, arriving on platform 9 3/4. There they found a shiny red train with the words Hogwarts stenciled on the side. Vegeta looked at the steam engine and scoffed, “Primitive transportation. I'm sure you could fly to this school faster, my son.”
Ryujin nodded, “But I don't know where it is, so I might as well ride the train.”
Vegeta and Goku nodded, “If you return next year, fly to the school instead,” Vegeta instructed.
Ryujin nodded, then he hugged his Uncle Goku. He turned to his father, and Vegeta put his hand on his son's shoulder, “Remember, my son, work hard. Show these pathetic humans that you are the Prince of all Saiyans and that you will bow to no one.”
Ryujin nodded, “I will, Dad. Don't worry, and I'll keep up with my training.”
Vegeta smiled at his son and ruffled his hair, “I know you will, Ryu. Stay strong, and if you need us, call, and Kakkarot and I will be there instantly.”
Goku looked at his nephew and agreed. Ryujin hugged both Saiyans, then grabbed his bag and boarded the train. Goku put his hand on Vegeta's shoulder, “He'll be alright; Vegeta and Ryu will do well.”
Vegeta scoffed, “Of course, he will, Kakkarot; he is my son. Now let us go to Kame's Lookout and check on my mate.”
Goku nodded and used his instant transmission to teleport them to the lookout. Meanwhile, Ryujin walked toward the back of the train and took the last carriage. He sighed and grabbed a book from his bag, and began to read. After a while, Ryu heard more people arriving; he smirked when he heard people talking about Harry Potter. They were in the shock of their lives to find that Harry was not on the train.
He read for a while longer when the door opened, and a girl with bushy hair came in and asked if she could sit with him. Ryujin nodded, and the girl dragged her trunk into the carriage. She had a hard time putting her box away, so Ryu quickly lifted it and put it away.
The girl thanked him and introduced herself, “Thank you, I'm Hermione Granger.”
Ryujin looked up from his book and smiled at the girl. Ryu remembered what his Aunt Bulma had told him, “Be polite to the children and careful with them. They are not as strong as you are.” Ryujin took her advice to heart. He may try to act friendly, but only to those who deserve it, and he could tell that Hermione was one of those people.
“Hello, I'm Ryujin Briefs.”
Hermione offered her hand, and Ryu shook it, “It's nice to meet you. Is this your first year at Hogwarts?”
Ryujin nodded, “Yes, it is, but I don't think the school can teach me anything.”
Hermione looked at Ryujin in shock, “Why do you say that?”
“This all seems like parlor tricks, and it's a useless skill.”
Hermione furrowed her brow, “Then why are you going?”
“My mother attended this school, and I want to learn more about her.”
“If you don't mind me asking, who is your mother?” Hermione asked.
“Lily Evans.”
Hermione thought for a moment then her eyes widened, “Then that makes you Harry Potter?!”
Ryujin scowled, “No, I'm not. James Potter was not my biological father. My name is Ryujin Briefs, and I will not answer to any other name.”
Hermione felt the hostility in her new friend and apologized, “I'm sorry, Ryujin; I promise never to call you Harry again. But could you show me your scar?”
Ryujin rolled his eyes and showed Hermione his forehead, and she was surprised to see there was nothing there, “What happened to your scar?”
“I never had one. I am made of sturdier things than that,” Ryu commented.
Hermione only nodded and changed the subject. They talked for a while until another boy with platinum hair entered, asking if they had seen Harry Potter. The children denied it, and the blonde entered their carriage. He looked at Ryujin and Hermione and scowled, “I've never seen you two before. You must be mud-bloods.”
Ryujin noticed that Hermione was upset at being called a mudblood. Ryujin scowled that this blonde idiot upset his new friend, “And you must be an inbred full blood; no wonder you lack the intelligence to know when they're in danger.”
Draco smirked, “You think you can go up against me, mudblood?”
Ryujin smirked and popped his knuckles, “I can take on you and your pathetic bodyguards.”
Suddenly, Draco, Crabbe, and Goyal pulled out their wands and pointed them at Ryu. Ryujin laughed and used his speed to pluck the wands from their hands and was sitting again before anyone realized he had moved, “Now, let's see how tough you are without your pathetic sticks.”
Malfoy and his bodyguards panicked and retreated, but not before Ryujin pocketed their wands, “When you learn some respect, then I'll give you back your wands.”
Hermione sniffled and then hugged Ryujin. Ryu stiffened at first, then hugged Hermione, “You have nothing to worry about, Hermione; I'll protect you.”
“Thank you, Ryujin.”
“You may call me Ryu for short.”
Meanwhile, at Hogwarts, Dumbledore was ecstatic that Harry Potter was finally coming to Hogwarts. He didn't believe the information that Professor McGonagall had given him about how Harry was and that he was not James Potter's son. All his hope was pinned on the boy who should have been raised to be meek. Dumbledore was in for the shock of his life. He was going to make sure Harry followed in his parent's footsteps and ended up in Gryffindor, and he became friends with Ron Weasley.
Back on the train, Ryujin and Hermione talked about the houses, and Hermione told Ryu that she wanted to get into Gryffindor because that was Dumbledore's house. Ryujin raised an eyebrow, “Why would you want to follow in a stranger's footsteps? You should make your path and do what is in your best interest.”
Hermione thought about what Ryu had said, “You're right, Ryu; I should go into the house that best suits me.”
As they got closer to Hogsmead, Hermione told her new friend they needed to change into their uniforms. Ryujin left so Hermione could change. When she was ready, Hermione switched with Ryu to give him privacy to change. Ryujin changed into his Saiyan outfit and armor that had the Royal symbol on it. Then he put on his cape and told Hermione to come in.
Hermione looked at Ryu in surprise, “That's not a Hogwarts uniform.”
Ryu looked at himself and smiled, “My father made it clear that I would not be wearing those ridiculous robes; they are too constricting. It was either where what I wanted or I would not attend.”
Hermione furrowed her brow, “Is that armor?”
“Yes, I will not expose myself to any attack.”
“What does the red insignia stand for?”
“It is the symbol of the Royal house.”
Hermione's eyes widened, “You're a prince?!”
“Yes, I am the Prince of all Saiyans.”
“What's a Saiyan?” Hermione asked.
Ryujin explained to Hermione what a Saiyan was and that his father was the King of their race. Ryujin explained everything to Hermione, including that his mother was half Saiyan and that she was not dead.
Hermione sat there with her mouth hanging open, “So your father is an alien, and your mother was half alien?”
“Yes.”
Hermione thought it was an incredible story, but she couldn't find any holes in Ryujin's tale, so she had no choice but to believe him. After all, why would he lie about something like that, “Your secret is safe with me.”
Ryujin looked at Hermione, confused, “I have nothing to hide. I am a Prince, and they don't believe me. That's their problem.”
Hermione nodded. She decided that no matter what, she would stand with her new friend.
When they arrived at Hogwarts, they met Hagrid, who was waiting for the first-year students on the platform. He smiled at all the new students but frowned when he saw Ryujin and became very nervous. Hermione thought that was odd and asked Ryu what that was about.
Ryujin smirked, “The buffoon is afraid of my father. He tried to bully his way past my father, and my father threw him through the wall.”
Hermione gasped, “Why?”
“This Hagrid fellow tried to get to me, but Saiyans are protective of their offspring, and my dad is even more protective of me. The moron should be happy my father didn't kill him.”
After Ryujin explained what Saiyans are, she wasn't surprised. She understood that Saiyans were a warrior race and that no threat would be tolerated. After Hagrid overcame his shock at seeing Ryujin, he led the first years to the boats. Hagrid informed the children that it was only three to a boat. Ryujin, Hermione, and a boy named Blaise Zabini got into the boat. Blaise introduced himself, and the three children talked while they crossed the lake. When Hogwarts came into view, the two first-years were in awe; Ryujin didn't feel one way or another about the castle. When they finally reached the dock, they found that Professor McGonagall was waiting for them. She introduced herself.
“Welcome to Hogwarts,” said Professor McGonagall. “The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a significant ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room.”
“The four houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has a noble history and has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.”
“The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as possible while waiting. I will return when we are ready for you,” said Professor McGonagall. “Please wait quietly.”
When Professor McGonagall left, all first-year students started asking for Harry Potter. Ryujin and Hermione looked at each other and rolled their eyes. They heard one boy with red hair named Ron Weasley say that he would be Harry's best friend. Ryujin scoffed at hearing the weakling say that. Ron listened to the scoff and turned towards Ryujin.
“What? Do you think you would be a better best friend to Harry Potter? Do you think you're better than me?”
Ryujin smiled exactly like Vegeta, “I know that I'm better than you, and I don't think this Potter person would want a weak, lazy boy like you as his friend.”
Ron turned red with anger and threw a punch at Ryu. Ryujin quickly caught his fist and smirked, “You're no match for me, weakling. Now, why don't you behave before a seriously hurt you,” To make his point, Ryujin squeezed Ron's fist until the boy cried out in pain. Ryu didn't use enough strength to break any bones, but he did use enough to leave him bruised and in pain for a while.
“I'm telling Professor McGonagall!” Ron cried, cradling his hand.
Draco, who had seen the whole thing, laughed, “So not only is Weasley a wimp, but he's a snitch as well,” Draco pointed out, causing everyone to laugh.
Ron turned red from his neck to his ears but said nothing. At that moment, McGonagall returned to the hall, “We're ready for you.”
Ryujin didn't waste any time; he was the first to enter the hall, with Hermione, Blaise, and Draco following. Once they entered the Great Hall, Ryujin looked around for possible ambush locations. His father had taught him to be vigilant and aware of his surroundings. Ryujin was impressed with the enchanted ceiling, but that was all.
Once the new students entered the hall, Dumbledore welcomed the first years, “I would like to welcome you all to Hogwarts. Many have been wondering where Harry Potter is, and I am happy to announce that Mr. Potter is here tonight. Harry, my boy, why don't you remove your disguise and reveal yourself?”
The students looked around but didn't see anyone with green eyes and a lightning bolt scar. Dumbledore insisted again while looking directly at Ryujin. Ryujin scowled at the older man. When everyone noticed that Professor Dumbledore was staring at the boy with hair that defied gravity and green eyes, they started whispering that he must be Harry Potter.
“Look at his hair. Why doesn't he have a scar or wear glasses? What kind of uniform is he wearing?”
The whisper continued until Ryujin was fed up. He stepped away from the group of first years and looked directly at the headmaster. Ryu raised his hand and fired a ki blast at Dumbledore. Albus's eyes widened, and he jumped out of the way, falling to the floor. He stared at ‘Harry’ in disbelief. Had the boy tried to kill him? The entire hall was silent.
“I missed on purpose, you old goat. My name is Ryujin Briefs, son of Prince Vegeta. My mother was Lily Evans, but I have no association with a man called James. That man was not my father, and he meant nothing to me. The next time you call me Harry Potter, I promise you I will not miss and destroy you,” Ryujin announced in a loud and clear voice.
Everyone in the hall stared at Ryujin with their mouths hanging open. No one had ever talked to the great Albus Dumbledore like that before, and this boy looked at him as if he was dirt under his boots.
Dumbledore cleared his throat, “I apologize, Mr. Briefs, Professor McGonagall; perhaps we should begin with the sorting ceremony?”
Minerva nodded and opened a piece of parchment, “When I call your name, you will come and sit down; I will place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your House. Hannah Abbott.”
The little girl walked timidly towards the stool and sat down. She was sorted into Hufflepuff. Minerva saw the next name on the list and swallowed hard, “Ryujin Briefs.”
Professor McGonagall placed the hat on Ryu's spiky hair and pushed it down to rest on his head. Ryujin sat with his back straight, glaring at everyone.
Ah, Mister Briefs. I won't make the same mistake the Headmaster did; I prefer not to get blasted. You're a Saiyan as your mother was, and a prince, no less. But I can tell that you are not arrogant about being royalty. You are faithful and protective, but of your family and those you deem worthy; Hufflepuff is out. You would eat them alive.
Ryujin smirked under the hat.
You are brilliant, but as a Saiyan, your true passion lies in combat. You are cunning, ambitious, and cautious. The headmaster wanted me to put you in Gryffindor-
Do that, you moth-eaten hat, and I'll feed you to the giant squid, Ryujin told the hat.
*I had no intention of doing that. You are a Slytherin through and through. So, “*Slytherin!” The hat yelled.
There was a moment of silence before the Slytherin table began to cheer. Ryujin got off the stool and made his way toward the Slytherin table. Dumbledore looked on in disappointment. He told the hat to put the boy in Gryffindor. What happened that the hat disobeyed him?
The sorting continued, and when Hermione was called, she put the hat on, and the hat talked to her for a bit, then made its decision, “Slytherin!” The hat yelled. The Slytherin table was quiet until Ryujin started clapping. Hermione smiled at her friend and walked toward the Slytherin table.
“Oh Merlin, we have a mudblood in our house,” Marcus Flint said.
Ryujin glared at the older boy, “Say that again about my friend, and pull your spine out through your mouth.”
To drive his threat home, Ryujin crushed the gold goblet in his and to a crumpled piece of metal. Marcus swallowed hard and nodded. Ryujin looked at the others at the table, and they all nodded. By that time, Hermione had arrived and sat down next to Ryujin. The other Slytherins warmly welcomed her.
Once Blaise Zabini was sorted, the feast began, and Ryujin ate more food than anyone had ever seen. When dinner was over, Dumbledore made a few more announcements and sent everyone to bed. It had been an intriguing night.
