A week passed by at an agonizingly slow pace. The clocks in the castle were all frozen in place and the sun and the moon were the only indicators of time passing by. For the first couple of days Draco and Harry had chosen to keep to themselves. They’d usually meet up in the great hall at night to fall asleep but they rarely spoke unless they had to.

There seemed to be no living thing in this entire dimension except for the two of them. Harry had gone out to the field’s with a broomstick to try and get a better view from the sky above but to his disappointment his broom wouldn’t fly. None of the brooms would.

Draco had tried casting spells with his wand over and over again only to feel foolish at waving a stick in the air only for nothing to happen. On the third day when he felt the boredom would drive him to madness Draco had broken into the library. To his relief he found that the books were exact replicas of the ones from his world.

His chest filled with hope. Maybe there was a way to fix this. A spell in one of the books to help them escape. He pulled piles of books from shelves stacking them on a table. Anything on dark amulets or cursed charms.

“A bit of light readying” Harry sat down uninvited at Draco’s table and grabbed a book from the giant pile.

“If I’m going to be stuck here I might as well learn something. These books are the exact same as our worlds.”

“So?”

“So, that means there might be a way to fix this. I mean what kind of dark wizard makes an artifact that could be used on them?” Harry’s eyes widened and he felt his chest swell with hope.

“You mean there’s a chance. That we could get out of here.”

“I don’t know” said Draco flipping the page of his book. “But I have to hope. It’s the only thing I have left.”

“Father I’m gay.”
“Mother I like men.”
“I want to kiss a boy.”

Draco had imagined how he was going to tell his parents. How he was going to expose his deepest secret like a bleeding wound and pray that they took it well. The thing was he never got the chance.

His Aunt Bella laughed as she pierced his mind. Images and emotions all hit him at once. The way he’d stared a little too long at Blaise his cheeks getting hot. The way he’d watched that fool Cedric holding hands with that useless wretch Cho Chang.

“Oh, I see” her voice rang in his ears as he tried to clear his mind. To protect himself from her mental attack.

It wasn’t long after their lesson was over that his mother showed up in his room.

“Draco, I need to speak with you.” Her voice was strained as if she didn’t want to be there. He turned to her urgently.

“What’s wrong?”

“I spoke to Bella. She told me things. Certain memories she saw in you head.”

“Mother, give me a chance to explain I-“

“I don’t care, Draco. I don’t care what you want to do in you’re personal life. But I want you to remember this. Our family has had a reputation for centuries. Every family tree has its twisted branches. My sister was foolish enough to run off and marry… anyways she is dead to me.”

“So what are you saying?”

“When the time comes you will be engaged. To a woman from a pure blooded family. I trust you will make the right choice. As I did before you and as you’re aunt Bella did.”

She walked away before he could say anything. Then he sat in his room alone and cried.

“What about this.” Draco pointed at the pendant on the page.

“The Heart Of Araxes a magical pendant created by Abaloth The Wicked. Allows the wearer to travel to different places in space and time” Harry read the page aloud as Draco held up the book.

“I don’t know Draco. The last know location of the pendant was Gringotts do you even think there’s a gringots in this world.” Both Draco and Harry turned to stare out the window.

Neither one of them had left the castle since they’d arrived. Draco had spent most of his time in the library pouring over books while Harry had occupied himself by trying to break into Dumbledoor’d office. He’d tried everything to get the gargoyle open but no matter what he did it refused to let him.

“I don’t know. We don’t know what safe it’s in. Even if we did we have no way of breaking into the gringots safes.”

“Damn it!” Draco let out a groan and turned the page. He’d recently expanded his research to the restricted section. His eyes widened and he turned to Harry with a sense of urgency. “You wouldn’t happen to have anything from your idiot friends would you?”

“Draco, could you not?” Harry flashed him an exasperated look and Draco rolled his eyes.

“Fine, the poor one and the one with the bad hair.”

“How about this.” Harry pulled out a Galeon from his pocket. Handing to Draco he looked down at it and saw the words Dumbledors Army inscribed on it. “Hermione gave it to me.”

“Excellent. I know what we have to do. I know how we’re going to get out of here.”
