Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy

Severus had only been in the office with Griphook for a total of thirty minutes before they were interrupted by a knocking on the office door. They had just finished going over the medical section of the inheritance test, which had left Severus in tears and extremely angry. Tears which if you asked Lucius later he would deny seeing for fear of his life. Griphook had also explained that the reason Harry or Hadrian did not seem to hate him is because the hatred potion was keyed to Severus Snape and whilst that was his name, magic recognised him as Severus Prince – Malfoy.

This is how Lucius found them when the door was opened. He immediately rushed over to his husband, wrapping his arms around him whispering calming words into his ears all while glaring at the goblins for daring to upset his husband. The only time he had ever seen Severus this vulnerable was when Hadrian was first taken.

“What’s wrong Sevvy?” He asked his husband once he had finally calmed down, the nickname he used for the dour man in private just slipping out. Severus handed him a piece of parchment paper. The last thing Lucius heard before his magic went into a fit of rage was “We found Haddy!”

Lucius’ emotions were all over the place. He had only been handed the medical portion of the inheritance test but it didn’t even register in his mind that there would be more. Only the abuse his child had suffered under the muggle “relatives” he had lived with. His heart clenched for the six year old child who had suffered under the hands of these horrible people. He understood why Severus looked the way he did.

It took them awhile but Severus and Griphook were finally able to get through Lucius’ shields of magic that had erected around him when he went into his fit of rage. “I’m sorry” Lucius apologised when he noticed what he had done.

“No need Lord Malfoy, Happens to the best of us.” Replied Griphook, knowing what kind of anger the two wizards were feeling as he was feeling it himself. Wizarding children were precious things, abuse was so rare in the wizarding world. Charms were placed on new born children and removed when the child legally became an adult and any harmful action or acts of neglect alerted the new child protection department in the ministry. “Luckily Lord Malfoy, Lord Prince, Hadrian should be finished with his cleansing and should be ready for visitors. If you would like to follow me.”

Hadrian was confused when he woke up. The whole day he realised he had been nothing but confused. He barely remembered anything after leaving the Dursleys. He remembered entering the bank with some strange man with long black hair, but couldn’t for the life of him remember the mans name. He could feel a sense of panic occurring when he looked around and noticed that the room he was in was all white with padded walls. There was no windows, and nothing else in the room except the bed he was sitting on and himself.

He did begin to wonder whether he had dreamt the whole thing and that his uncle had finally gone through with his threats to send him to a mental hospital. Another thing he thought of was, was he in heaven? But how could that be, surely he wouldn’t be in heaven all on his own? After all hadn’t Aunt Petunia’s television program say “All of us will eventually go to Heaven” or something like that.

He did feel safe though, which made the Uncle Vernon theory so much less likely. He did not feel like he would feel safe if he had woken up in a mental hospital. His heart almost burst when Griphook and two men walked into the room. He felt like he was having déjà vu when the blonde haired man gasped out a “Hadrian!”

“Papa?” came Hadrian’s broken voice. It was real, his parents were alive and stood in front of him. He couldn’t help but start to cry. Lucius ran straight over and embraced his long lost son.

“Yes my child, it’s your papa.” They felt a second pair of arms wrap around them, “and your daddy is here too.”

The three males cried for a short while before Lucius felt the heavy weight of his child leaning into his chest. Looking down he noticed that Hadrian had cried himself to sleep, exhausted by the shocks he had received in the day or so of his life.

This moment seemed so surreal to Severus. He had dreamt for years for this moment to happen. He dreamt of having his baby back in his arms safe and sound, and now it was finally a reality. But he wanted someone to pay for taking his baby. No someone needed to pay for taking his baby away from him for all these years. Severus unwrapped his arms from around Lucius before taking Hadrian into his own arms, freeing his husband who stood and smoothed the creases in his robes.

“Griphook, can we take him with us? We will come back another day when he is more rested and we are all prepared to fully find out the extent of why he was missing?”

“Good idea Lord Malfoy. Send me a letter when you want to go over it, I will put the test in his files so he will not have to donate any more blood.”

“Thankyou.”

The two adults thanked the goblins respectfully before heading out through Gringotts. Lucius had magically changed Hadrian’s clothes to something more presentable, the scraps of clothes he used to wear were not worthy of any child, and conjured a blanket with a wave of his wand, which he tucked around his child who had tucked his head into the crook of his Daddy’s neck.

Lucius was not sure if any of this was real. He was scared he would wake up the next morning and that the whole thing was a dream, so he continuously glanced over and touched his baby’s back just to reassure himself that he was very much so alive. But now they had bigger things to worry about. They came in two packages. Narcissa Malfoy nee Black and Draconis Lucius Malfoy.

Narcissa Malfoy stood outside Madame Malkins for a very long time. She was not sure precisely on the time, she just knew that her son was getting restless and would need to move shortly and have something to eat, otherwise he would be in the foulest mood. She was not sure what was taking her husband’s so long but she was certainly not prepared for the sight that came into her eyeline.

She felt Draco sigh in relief when he spotted his fathers but he mirrored his mother’s expression of confusion when they realised Severus was carrying someone who they assumed to be Harry Potter. He didn’t even carry Draco at this age, saying he was old enough to walk on his own two feet. The confusion increased when they noticed the blanket that had been expertly tucked around the boy and when they saw how small he was. He was about four feet, a foot shorter than the average height for an eleven year old.

“What is happening here then?” She spoke when the trio reached her and Draco, letting them know of their sons impatience through the tone she used. She also did not like waiting around.

“Cissy,” Lucius broke into the largest smile she had ever seen him use in a public place before he picked up their eldest son and spun him round, completely breaking the pureblood image they had given the public over the years. Needless to say, they had a lot of eyes looking at them now. Narcissa eyed Severus noticing that he also had decided to stray from the typical stone cold face he usually displayed in public. Severus pulled the blanket down slightly so that half his baby boys face was on show, the other half still tucked safely into his shoulder. Narcissa gasped.

“Meet your son, Hadrian Severus Malfoy.”
