Chapter 4
Death smiled. “Think Little Master.”
Harry glared at him before he paused. “I was created using the flesh of Antioch, the blood of Cadmus, and your bone.” His eyes narrowed. “Is- was Lily Evans a descendent of Antioch?”
“Well done.”
“Of course she was.” Harry glared at him. “So how in the bloody hell did my mother bugger Lord Voldemort?!”
Death glowered. “I hate that name. One would think he was Antioch’s descendant, not Cadmus’.”
“Death.”
“One moment.”
A dark doorway appeared, which a red-haired woman stepped through. “You summoned me, Dark One?”, she asked as she bowed to Death.
Harry blinked before he stepped towards her. “Mum?”
Lily Evans turned towards him quickly. “Harry!” She threw her arms around him.
Harry hugged her back before he pulled away. He looked her in the eyes. “I needed answers about my parentage.”
Lily sighed. “I see.” She turned to Death. “Could you?”
“Very well.” Death waved his hand and summoned chairs for each of them. “We will most likely be here, till you awake in the morning, Master.” He explained.
Harry nodded and sat down. “So how did you and Voldemort… bed each other?”
Lily sighed, “Sweetie, we didn’t bed each other. As far as your father knows, he bedded Bellatrix Lestrange.”
“What?!”
“The Potters were not your final descendants- well Ignotus Perverell’s final descendants. There were more. I made a deal with Death. If I willing gave Death one soul for every soul who would be needed for you- as Harry - to come to exist, he would grant me a child.” Lily sighed. “A lot of ‘Bellatrix’s’ more successful and impacting kills weren’t hers.”
Harry blinked slowly. “You murdered tons of people… just to have a child.”
“Yes.”
“So when did you sleep with Voldemort?”
Lily blushed. “I had just killed Benjy Fenwick-”
“Wait, you killed a member of the Order of the Phoenix?”
Lily smirked. “Oh, sweetie. In the old timeline, your father often wondered how Bellatrix became so incompetent.” Harry snorted. “We were back at base and I- admittedly -was not completely myself by the time this happened. I was severely into dark magic. If everyone had known I was by birth a Perverell, I do believe I would have fought on the other side, just for Dark Magic.”
“Really?”
“Sweetie, your aunt was as awful to me. My parents enabled her. If I had the choice to kill all Muggles like them. I would have.”
Harry blinked. “Did James know?”
“James was a Perverell and a Black by blood. The Potter blood did what it could to get him on the Light side of the war. He chose me in the end. Whichever I was on, he was on. That’s why we agreed to do what it took to have a child together.”
“He helped?”
“He took care of the actual Bellatrix while I was with the Dark.”
“Ah.”
“Anyway, I had killed Fenwick and I had been dropping hints that I want to sleep with the Dark Lord-”
“I’m surprised that didn’t out you.”
“Who do you think made it so Bellatrix was a blunt bitch?”
Harry snorted.
“As I thought. We slept together and I had made a potion that would ensure I would conceive, even with conception charms. The one person who could have made something that would make it false was Severus, most likely.”
“And you never told him?”
“Who? Severus?”
“No, my father.”
Lily laughed. “Of course not. He would have wanted to keep you and teach you to be his heir. Anyhow, it was Lily Evans the one who was pregnant, not Bellatrix Lestrange. After I gave birth to you, I went about ensuring there was nothing that could kill you. I tracked back the Perverell lines to see who were also descendants of Ignotus, to see if I could make the bond between you and Soul Magic deeper.”
“The Blacks?”
“Sirus was shocked and had no idea why would we think to ask him to blood-adopt you.” Lily smiled at the memory. “James and I agreed that we would never tell him the truth of how you came to be- he differed from his family too much to see my way of thinking. I would have preferred Regulas, but he was both dead and missing by this time.”
“Why Regulas?”
“He was darker and would have seen my way. James also refused to admit it, but the reason he was so ‘in love’ with me in his later Hogwarts years was that he was obsessed with Regulas. But he didn’t want to betray Sirus, so he chose me.”
“Why did you want a baby so badly?”, Harry asked curiosity in his eyes. “What was the point?”
“I wanted to give you everything I wasn’t given after I found out about my magic,” Lily answered nonchalantly. “I would have sold my soul to have you and make sure you were happy for the whole of your mortal life.”
“My ‘mortal’ life? Does that have to do with how you saved me that night?”
Lily smiled. “As Bellatrix Lestrange, I learned that your father had made several objects that held pieces of his soul in them. One of them was a cup-”
“You were the one who got Hufflepuff’s cup?!”
“And hid it,” Lily smirked. “The goblins knew I wasn’t Bellatrix, but they were willing to help me, for a price. I knew that if I were to protect you, I would need to tie your existence to the mortal plane permanently. So I set up the ritual so my death would trigger your father’s magic to tie a piece to you.”
Harry turned to Death. “So how does this affect our deal?”
“You know our deal was never valid, Ignotus.” Death said with a sad smile. “You were the chosen one from birth, not because of a false prophecy, but because it was our destiny to be the Master of Death. You were born as Hardwin Potter to become immortal.”
