Chapter 2
Harry opened his eyes to see a mobile above his head.
Wait, why does Hogwarts have a mobile of all-?
Oh right.
Shockingly, the first person to come into the room is someone other than Sirius. It was Severus Snape. The one person Harry thought he would never see or talk to again.
Well, I should have guessed that I would see and talk to him again, coming into the past.
Harry had no idea if he had cried in the previous life, but he wouldn’t cry now. He may have been a dick to him in his past life, but Snape deserved to get to say goodbye to his oldest friend.
It was a good while before Snape stopped crying. When he did, he turned to look at the crib.
He froze.
And Harry reached forwards.
To his surprise, Snape picked him up.
He snuggled into his shoulder. “Mama bye?”, Harry asked quietly.
“Yes, Harry, Mama bye.”, Snape said.
Harry let the tears fall, but he didn’t get loud.
Somehow, that was bonus points with Snape.
“Dada bye too.”
Harry buried his head into Snape’s neck. “Daddy not Mama.”
Snape laughed.
Well, it was more of a chuckle, but he laughed.
“Daddy is not Mama at all.”, Snape agreed as he held Harry close.
“Paddy come.”
“Paddy?”
Harry nodded. “Unci go before Paddy come.”
Snape smiled.
Did I get put in an alternate dimension?!
“Unci?”, he whispered.
Harry nodded. “Unci love Mama. Unci is Unci.”
Snape swallowed. “Unci loved Mama very much.” He placed Harry back down in the crib. “You’re a very smart boy, Harry.”
Harry grinned, grasping Snape’s hand. “See Unci again?”
Snape got a soft look on his face. “One day, Little One.”
Sirius came a short bit after Snape left. Like Snape, he stopped at his oldest friend’s body to mourn.
Harry stayed quiet.
When Sirius finished with James, he ran upstairs and saw the destruction. “Lily.”, he whispered. “No.” He began to mourn her as well.
Harry stayed quiet.
Sirius rubbed his eyes and turned to see Harry’s corpse.
“Paddy.” Harry smiled and reached for him.
Sirius froze.
“How-?”
“Paddy!”, Harry pouted. “Up!”
Sirius picked him up and held him close. “Bloody hell- don’t repeat that Prongslet, your mother would come back to life just to kill me if I taught you swear words -how are you alive?!”
Harry just played with his hair.
“Ow, Prongslet, careful.”, Sirius ran his hand down his face. “Ok, so my best friend and his wife are dead. They made me godfather and had me blood adopt him so no one could say I have no right to him.”
BLOODY HELL WHAT-?!
“Now I need to figure out how to raise a kid, maybe Remus and Peter-” Sirius froze.
Oh no not again.
“That fucking rat.” Sirius snarled. “C’mon, Prongslet, we have a rat to hunt.” Sirius stormed downstairs before he paused. “Wait, what the fuck am I thinking?! Lils would kill me if I took her baby rat-hunting.”
“Sirius?” the oh-so-familiar voice of Hagrid called.
NOT AGAIN.
“Hagrid!”, Sirius said cheerfully. “Could you watch Harry for a few minutes? I’ll be back soon.”
“Well-”
“Thanks! Be back soon.” Sirius planted a kiss on Harry’s brow before he darted off.
Damn it, Padfoot.
Harry assumes the exchange between McGonagall and Dumbledore is the same as last time.
After all, it ends the same.
Harry is on the Dursleys’ doorstep in the middle of the night.
The difference is he is awake.
What toddler that are awake stays put?
None.
Grabbing his blanket, Harry set off on his quest to get as far away from the Dursleys as possible.
Shockingly, it goes really well.
Harry gets about three miles from the Dursleys’ house before someone questions the toddler running around with no one around him.
“Hey buddy.” a police officer says as he crouches down. “What’s your name?”
Harry pauses for a moment. “Pwongswet.”
“Prongslet?” the officer blinked. “Who calls you that?”
Harry nodded. “Daddy and Paddy and Moomy and Wowmy.”
The officer nodded slowly. “Do you know where they are?”
Harry looked at the ground. “Mama and Daddy went bye. Paddy gave me to Haggie and Haggie bye-byed.”
The officer’s eyes softened. “Did they leave you somewhere?”
Harry nodded as he allowed tears to fill his eyes. “Byed a house.”
The officer nodded. “C’mon kiddo.” He picked him up. “Let’s go see if you have family who doesn’t want to bye.”
They contacted the Dursleys after they found out who he was. Petunia informed them they didn’t want a “freak” in their home.
It was fun to watch officer Tucker’s response to that.
Five foster families later, Harry was placed in a very familiar place.
Bloody hell, will I never get a break?
The matron was someone named Ms. Massy this time. Ms. Cole was dead and gone, thankfully. “He’s a special case.”, the Child Services Worker told her. “He was found wandering the streets after his family tried to leave him at someone’s doorstep.”
Ms. Massy’s eyes softened, just like Officer Tucker did he found out Harry had been left at a doorstep. “What’s your name sweetheart?”, she softly asked him.
“Winnie,” Harry responded.
The worker smiled and nodded. “Good job, Winnie!”
One of the biggest problems Harry insured existed in the eyes of the adults was “Winnie” had when he was in the system was saying he wasn’t “Prongslet” like his family called him.
“Hardwin James Black”, the worker told Ms. Massy “His mother was never recorded as being married and the father doesn’t show in our systems, only Winnie’s birth certificate.”
Interestingly, Harry’s name in the muggle world actually ended in Black, not Potter.
Ms. Massy froze, “Like the one from-”
“Same one.” the worker nodded. “He likely left his son at his girlfriend's sister’s doorstep in hopes she would take him in.” She tsked. “Such a horrid man.”
Ms. Massy nodded before she picked up Harry. “Well, dear, how about we get you settled in here? You’ll be safe here.”
“No bye?”
“No bye.”
