Jax’s POV
(3 weeks later)
First day of the weekend. Thank GOD. Me Pomni and the rest of the group were all hanging out at my house just having a good time. When…
*DING*
Pomnis phone went off. She looked at it and said, “GUMMIGOO!!!” She immediately texted back with a smile.
“Who’s Gummigoo?” I asked, my brow furrowed.
“Really good friend from Russia!” She beamed. “Hold on I show picture.” She said and scrolled through her camera roll. Then held up a picture of herself and this taller guy in a hockey jersey with green into yellow hair.
“Huh neat.” I said. “Why’d he text you?” I asked.
“I don’t know, can call him?” She asked.
“Yeah! You’re fine.” I said. Who the hell names their kid Gummigoo…?
The phone rung then an Australian voice broke through, “ello?” The voice said.
“GUMMIGOO!!!” Pomni said beaming.
“Pomni love! How’re ya doin? Wait… you said my name in English!” The voice in the speaker said.
Pomni laughed and said, “yes I live in America for months now! Why you call?”
“No way! You’re joking! I was wondering where ya were hadn’t seen ya at the rink for months! Got worried ya know! But now I know why!” He said with a laugh.
Pomni giggled a bit and said, “what’s up! Haven’t seen in months anything new?” Pomni said with a light smile.
“Well I’m in the state of Wisconsin right now love, it’s so friggin cold here” The gummy guy said. It’s 10 fucking degrees get over it. I rolled my eyes.
“Jealous?” Ragatha whispered.
“What no. Pomni can talk to whoever the hell she wants to.” I said forcing a smile.
“We should meet up, skate like we did!” Pomni said excitement etched on her face.
“Yeah! Sounds good what time?” What’s his face said.
Pomni turned to me. “What time it is?” She asked.
“1:30.” I said checking my phone.
“2:00?” Pomni said.
“Sounds good see ya there.” He said and they ended the call.
“You want come skate?” Pomni asked playing on her back and looking at us upside down. And she looked to damn cute to say no.
“Of course! I’d love to go with you Poms!” I said ruffling her hair with a smirk.
“Great! I get skates from my room bag!” She said rolled over. And ran to her room. I smiled as she walked away.
She came back in some tights a pink skirt some earmuffs and a long sleeve white shirt. “Can I see the skates Pom?” I asked.
She pulled them out of a bag and showed them off they were white with fuzzy insides and looked quite comfortable. Then I saw little spiky things on the ends. “What are those?” I asked.
“They me with turns and jumps.” She said nonchalantly then stuffed them into her bag.
(At the rink)
I drove us all to the rink and we were there about five minutes before the Gummi guy. Then he walked in.
“Ello mate!” He said walking over.
Pomni ran over and tackled him, “GUMMIGOO!” She yelled.
“Pomni hey! How ya doin love?” He said picking her up and twirling her around. Oh hell no.
I casually walked over and said, “hey I’m Jax.” I held my hand out for him to shake it.
He shook my hand with a smile. “Hey mate, nice to meet ya. So how do you and Pomni know eachother?”
“I’m her boyfriend.” I said putting my arm around her. “How do you know her?” I asked.
“I’m her best friend.” He said taking her hand. “How long have ya known her?”
“Few months. You?” I asked my grip on Pomnis shoulder getting tighter.
“Years.” He said. A grin spread across his face. I haven’t even known this man for 5 minutes and god I hate him.
“Oh neat.” I said a tight forced smile on my face.
“Enough with small talks. We skate!” Pomni said with laugh.
I rented some skates for me and the group and we slowly got used to the ice while Pomni quickly lapped us with Gummigoo, skating backwards and talking. I mean I get it, caring up with a friend you haven’t seen in months can be great and I’m happy for Pomni, but for some reason jealousy took over.
Pomni skated over to us and said, “Gummigoo gets water what skate just me and you for moment?” Pomni said with a smile.
I took her hand, “I’d love that.” I said.
She helped me get the hang of it and soon I was skating pretty fast, occasionally slipping but it’s better than what it was. The Gummigoo came back and said, “ya finally got the ropes newbie?” He laughed a bit.
“Slowly.” I laughed back. Then Pomni stepped in.
“He learn very fast.” She said a proud smile on her face.
This was bound to be an interesting and exhausting day…
