Wrath of Water
Life would continue on like this for many hundreds of years, but the wickedness of the earth was great, and the hubris of both man and Neodox was greater still.
A time was coming when all life on earth would be wiped out. But most did not divine this.
As the many years passed, the Neodox created many things. They created a city, glittering and white, with towers reaching for the sky, and defenses of fire. They created doors to the heavens, in an attempt to reach the old home of their parents. The One who breathes the breath of life could not have those with wickedness in their hearts come to His realm, but because they were children of those made in His image, He allowed them to reach other worlds and prosper there, knowing that both mercy and justice had no bounds. Mercy, because those who humble themselves before Him may be saved from wrath. And justice, because a plague would rack the Neodox many times in the course of history.
The Neodox, with their spiritual lineage, sought more than just passage back to the realm of true heaven. They sought within themselves a course of spiritual deliverance that could never be complete. They learned to hone aspects of creation as powers, and in its purest form, to eventually turn into tokens of the essence of those powers.
So as the day of wrath approached, some Neodox transformed into tokens. Some Neodox fled for the stars through their doors to the heavens. And some Neodox took their great city and left this planet behind. Until finally, only one Neodox would be left on earth– a woman, Na’el, the wife of Cham, youngest son of Noah.
Not all the Neodox chose to leave. Some did not believe that a day of wrath was coming. They wanted to remain on earth, ruling over those who had pledged loyalty to them. They would be destroyed on the day of wrath as all men would be.
As the means of deliverance was being constructed, Na’el went out among the Neodox to gather the tokens left behind. These she treasured, keeping safe in a bag without a bottom, that she kept always close to her throughout her time through the wrath of the deluge. And she was the first of those to guard the tokens.
