Worship of Serpents
Days unfolded into years unfolded into centuries. New Neodox were born on earth and throughout the heavens. Many fell ill and died. Many refined their power and became tokens. Some yet remained.
As mankind spread through all the earth, they forgot the One who breathes the breath of life. The fallen soldiers, fathers of the Neodox, saw this as an excellent opportunity for their own glory. They once more came and took the bodies of man and woman and displayed their power in mighty ways. Soon, mankind, lost and rebellious against the One who breathes the breath of life, fell under the spell of the fallen soldiers and called them their gods. You may know some of their names– Ra and Zeus, Ba'al and Odin, Dagon and Anubis. Great and mighty gods, terrible in their wrath, twisted in their favor, ruler of almost all men. Yet some still remained faithful to the One who breathes the breath of life, and He blessed them and kept them apart from their pagan brothers for the time of redemption.
The One who breathes the breath of life saw the great evil that the fallen soldiers did. He saw how they used their powers beyond what they could attain with a human mind alone. Although the fallen soldiers were powerful in their mortal hosts, they were even more powerful in their form of energy. So the One who breathes the breath of life saw this, and He deemed it necessary that the fallen soldiers who ruled mankind as gods be confined to the form of serpents. This was so that they might not grab hold of their full celestial power so long as they would rule as gods. For as long as they desired hosts, they would be confined to the mortal plain. And they were the gods of the Gilo'av.
And so the serpents who were the Gilo'av took hosts as before, controlling them with great strength, wearing only the most beautiful and strong bodies among men. But they no longer could call upon the power of the celestial plain, and were limited to the impressive power of possession they remained with. And the Gilo'av grew strong despite these limitations, and they ruled mankind with an iron hand so much as they could do despite having even more limited knowledge than before. And their traditional omnipotence was watered down further, for none can know all or do all save the One who breathes the breath of life, yet knowing some things was possible for them and now was more impossible. For the Gilo'av were there to test mankind and the Neodox, and the people did not succeed, yet the Gilo'av continued to astonish the people with their mighty powers.
