The sorting ceremony
A tall stern-looking woman appeared. Her blackish-grayish hair was tied back into a neat tight bun. She had a green robe on and a black pointed hat.
She tapped Draco on the back and then made them get into a line. She opened the doors revealing a massive room. There were 4 long tables stretching nearly the entire length of the room.
They all walked in whispering among themselves staring in awe at the place.
Ron kept smiling and talking to Harry but inside he was trembling with fear. What if the hat said his deadname. What if everyone found out he was trans. He couldn't do this. Just stay calm. Breathe. Everything will be fine.
He heard Mcgonagall talking and focused back into what was happening.
"Now when I call your name you will sit on the stall and be sorted into your house,"
"Hermione Granger,"
The same bushy brown haired that they met on the train walked up and sat on the stall.
Ron whispered so only Harry would hear, "mental that one I'm telling you,"
Mcgonagall lowered an old tattered hat onto her head.
"Hmm loyalty I see. Hard working and honesty. Difficult decision,"
"This is taking ages it better hurry up for everyone else," said Ron.
After about 4 minutes of the hat debating which house he finally announced that Hermione was a gryffindor.
She walked proudly over and say down at the table.
"Draco Malfoy,"
The blonde boy walked up to the stall with a big smirk on his face.
The hat had barely touched his head before screaming Slytherin.
"Ronald Weasley,"
He smiled with relief but he still had to be sorted. What if he wasn't a gryffindor? He couldn't be more of a disappointment then he already was.
He walked up towards the stall and sat down. He tried to remain calm but he was panicking.
His hands were shaking a bit and his palm were all sweaty.
"Gryffindor,"
He relaxed and went to join his brothers at the gryffindor table.
Harry was also sorted into gryffindor so that was a relief.
Eventually everyone was sorted and Dumbledore was giving his speech.
He wished he'd hurry up slightly as he was starving.
"Nitwit, Blubber, Oddments, Tweak!"
He clapped his hands and all the empty plates on the tables filled instantly with a delicious mixture of food.
The long bearded man returned to his table and everyone tucked into the feast.
Soon it was ready to go to their common rooms and Percy was organising all the first years. Ron was about to follow them before the professor from earlier came over and asked Ron to follow her.
He obeyed and promised to meet Harry in the common room later before walking out of the hall trying to keep up with the fast-walking McGonagall.
They finally made it to her office and he took a seat opposite her.
"Would you like a biscuit," she asked calmly
Taken back by this, Ron just shook his head and kept darting his eyes around the room.
"I got an owl from your father a few weeks ago explaining your.. situation," she explained carefully, "if you have any issues or need anything you can always come and find me ok,"
Ron nodded slightly and then looked up nervously, "will anyone else knows?" He asked.
"Madam Pomfret knows, she is our nurse here at hogwarts but apart from that no one else will know unless you tell them," she replied smiling.
They say there for a moment and as there were no further issues to discuss she led him up to the gryffindor common room.
He walked through the portrait and looked around for Harry but before he could walk over to him Percy came over. He checked Ron was alright before re-explaining what he had just told the first years before sending Ron on his way with Harry to the dormitories.
Ron sat in bed listening until he was sure everyone else was asleep before getting up and tiptoeing to the bathroom. He took of his binder and just stood and breathed for a minute before putting on his pyjamas and going back to bed.
