The first day
Ron opened his eyes looking around the room before sitting up. He pulled the duvet over his chest trying to hide it. Everyone else was still asleep luckily so he crept slowly out of bed.
He walked slowly to the bathroom before closing it and locking it carefully so it didn't make much noise.
Once everyone was awake and ready, Harry and Ron headed down to breakfast.
"What lesson do we have first," asked Harry who was frantically checking his bag making sure he had everything.
Ron swallowed his mouthful of toast before replying," We have charms first at 9:00 with the Ravenclaws,"
"Lucky we have History of Magic" groaned Fred pulling a face.
"That lesson was alright. Shame we didn't get to any magic though," said Harry as we walked out of the class.
"Yeah spose they can't have us performing magic until we've learnt the theory still boring though," Ron responded who was as disappointed as Harry when he found out they weren't going to wave their wands around yet.
"What we got now then. I still can't find my stupid timetable?" He asked searching his pockets.
"I dunno let me check mine," Ron pulled out his timetable from his pocket. He had colour coded it last night before he went to sleep to make it easier to read. Ron hoped it didn't look to girly.
"We got a 20 minute break before we have to go study in the hall with the rest of the houses in our year," he said looking over at Harry nervously. He didn't even acknowledge the coloured timetable. It looked like he didn't even notice.
"Let's go dump our charms books back at our dorms," Harry suggested
Ron nodded in agreement and they headed over there following their maps. They were pretty rubbish though as they only showed the basic layout and they didn't show where the moving stairs were or the doors to classrooms.
After a few wrong turns and speaking to Nearly Headless Nick they finally got to their dorms.
Ron put his books away and went to get one of his Chudley Cannons posters out of his trunk to hang up. As he pulled it out a bra flung out onto the floor.
He quickly grabbed it stuffing it inside his trunk and zipping it up.
Panicked, he looked over at Harry who was still trying to close his slightly broken trunk. That was close.
He put up his poster up using a thumbtack Harry gave him and stood back to admire his favourite team.
The bell suddenly went off," Bloody hell we've got 5 minutes to get to the hall," they grabbed their bag and bolted out of our dorm, down the stairs, out of the common room through the maze of stairs and corridors. They arrived a minute after the 2nd bell had gone off.
They walked in panting like dogs for breath. Hermione, who was already sat down, tutted quietly at us as they took their seats.
Ron took his books out and started trying to answer the questions in his charms homework. He couldn't believe that Flitwick had already given them homework on their first day.
Once he finished he sat and studied his timetable.
Astronomy and then flying. Flying he could do. He'd practiced plenty of times with his brothers and it's not like you could really study for it.
Hermione on the other hand was very sure you could learn something about it in books. She was sat there skimming through a bunch of flying books.
Finally the bell went and they all had an hour for lunch before Astronomy.
"Let's go sit by the lake for lunch," suggested Harry grabbing his things.
Neville, Seamus and Dean joined us and we all sat under a tree as the weather was quite warm still.
"Well hopefully that lesson will be more exciting next time," Ron said dismally as they walked out of the classroom, "all we did was discuss what we would do next lesson and how to set up telescopes,"
"We've got flying next," spoke up Dean Thomas excitedly, lifting the mood.
"Yes," Ron did a tiny celebration," hopefully that won't be theory. I used to play quidditch all the time with my brothers," he bragged slightly.
"I hope it's theory based I've never been on a broom in my life," Neville said worriedly.
"I'm just going to dump a bunch of this stuff back at our dorm. Anyone want to come?" Ron asked the group
"I will," Harry said so they both headed to the dorms while the others went to the grounds.
"What's Quidditch," asked Harry nervously.
"Welcome to your first flying lesson. Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of their broom stick," Madam Hooch the flying teacher instructed us. She had short grey hair and yellow eyes almost like a cat. "Come on now, hurry up!" She said getting impatient, "Stick your right hand over your broom and say 'up'."
Everyone started saying 'up' and Harry looked over at Ron. It couldn't be too difficult right?
"Up," Harry said trying to be confident and the broom whizzed straight into his hand. He steadied himself as he'd been taken a bit by surprise. Hermione looked at him confused yet equally impressed. Draco Malfoy was second to get his broom. Ron rolled his eyes at this and kept trying.
He kept saying up over and over not wanting to look stupid after telling his friends how good he was but the stupid broom wasn't doing anything except rolling around. He was getting annoyed now and he must of said it too aggressively as it suddenly shot up and hit him in the face. Him and Harry started laughing it was pretty hilarious Ron thought to himself.
