"You can still be normal with it!"
"I can't start over. Not again." His voice was so broken.
Annabeth let her hand come to rest on the tall boy's shoulder. "You won't be starting over. You'll still have me. I'll help."
"But don't I deserve to suffer for it?" Percy looked lost, his sea green eyes wild as he whispered the words. "I caused so much pain. Hurt so many. K-k-killed people. Why shouldn't I feel what I caused?"
Annabeth glanced at his wrist, which he pulled behind him on instinct, but not before she saw the angry red lines marring his skin. "I think you've had enough pain. And I can't lose you."
