Tony/Steve
“I love you.”
Tony felt like he had been slapped in the face with those three words. It took everything in him to keep up his facade.
“If you loved me you wouldn’t have thrown everything away.”
Tony feels the exhaustion hit him and suddenly he just feels tired, bone deep and aching. He wants this to stop. He wants everything to go back to before their so-called civil war. Back when they slept in, curled against one another in bed and sharing the same space.
He can’t though. Steve made his choice and Tony doesn’t have the strength to chase after him. Tony knew he was worthless and Steve was just another person in his life willing to toss him to the side.
“We’re done here, Steve. You made your choice.”
Tony turns and leaves, wishing he could say he hated Steve. Wishing he could throw those words back at Steve with as much venom as when Steve told him Bucky was his priority.
Tony loves Steve even if he doesn’t want to and he doesn’t think anything will change that, despite the gaping wound in his chest.
