James
James was enjoying the party. Despite the whole lap dance being in front of people, he enjoyed it. He was glad the girls looked away, and to be honest, he wasn't sure if Barty and Evan had watched. He was way too busy looking at regulus and trying to not moan in front of a ton of people. James was with the girls now, talking about their jobs.
“James, didn’t you model for that one magazine?” “Yes, probably.” “Wait, you model,” Marlene asked. He nodded. “Makes sense, you're quite fit.”
James blushed.
“Thank you. Now, I must be off because I’ve left Reggie alone and knowing him he hates whoever he’s with.”
He heard a chorus of ‘bye James’ as he walked away. He looked for Regulus in almost every room when he finally found him. He was laughing with Remus.
“Hey, James. Have you told him yet?” “No. It needs to be the right time. I still can’t believe you're ok with this.” “Well, I’d rather the literal nicest person I know date him than a total stranger.” “Well, I suppose that makes sense.” “Besides, if you even think about hurting him, I know where you live.” “I would never!” “Good. Now I'm going to talk to Rem.” “Oh, ok bye.”
James nursed a drink in the corner as he saw Regulus ask Remus something. He looked at James, laughed, and then pulled out his phone. Regulus stood behind the table, waving at James. Then, the lights dimmed and a familiar chorus started playing over the speakers. Regulus looked at James as he began to sing.
“Primadonna girl, yeah, all I ever wanted was the world.”
James blushed at him. Regulus lifted his leg up and got on the table. He circled around, still singing.
“Got you wrapped around my finger, babe. You can count on me to misbehave.”
James thought about the lyrics. As Regulus sang, he stared right at James. It made James internalize everything he said. Got you wrapped around my finger? Yes, James was definitely wrapped around his finger. You can count on me to misbehave? Regulus was definitely not the picture of a golden boy.
“He’s singing to you,” Remus said behind him. “He’s so pretty. I need to tell him.” “Tell him… what exactly.” “That I don’t want it to be fake anymore.” “Oh my god. You need to tell him. As soon as he’s done, understand?” “Ok. I will.” “Now listen, it’s about to get good.”
“Would you do anything for me? Buy a big diamond ring for me? Would you get down on your knees for me?”
At this line, he spread his legs and slid down to his knees. He made eye contact with James and he knelt on his heels. His skirt rode up even higher, making James struggle to meet his eyes. He winked at James. His eyes glittered, white light bouncing off of them. James wasn’t sure when it happened, but he had walked up to the front of the table, and Regulus had finished his song. He was sitting on the table, letting James’s eyes wander wherever he wanted them to. Regulus cupped James’s face.
“Not here, love. We need to talk.”
All of the color washed out of Regulus’s face. He hopped off of the table and followed James.
“Why are we in the bathroom, James?” “Because. I need to tell you something and you might hate me for it.” “Well, just tell me,” Regulus spat. “I don’t want to fake date you anymore and-” “Let me guess ‘it’s not you, it’s me’. Save it. I don’t even care. That's a lie. You wanna know something James, I do care. I care so much that I seem to have caught feelings during your dumb fucking plan. Or is that what you wanted all along. Answer me James!” “Reggie, I have feelings. I’ve had feelings for a while and that was what I was trying to say. I don’t want to fake date you anymore because I have feelings for you. I wanted so badly to tell you, but I wasn’t sure what you were gonna say, and it was selfish and I’m sorry.” “You. James Potter. The golden perfect boy has feelings for me? It’s not selfish, James. I didn’t tell you for the same reason. Pure fear. And I’m sorry James. I yelled because I was so sad that I would never get to feel you again. I would never taste you and that thought was too much for me to bear, so I’m sorry-”
James couldn’t take it anymore. He’d been waiting since Regulus walked away from him, and he surged forward. Regulus' eyes were shocked, but quickly they closed. The kiss was gentle, surprisingly, and full of every unspoken word between the two. James wrapped his hands around Regulus's waist and lifted him onto the counter. Regulus made an indecipherable sound against James’s mouth and he broke the kiss.
“Is this okay?”
Regulus responded by wrapping his legs around James and pulling him in. Regulus was straddling him now, letting James decide what to do. They stayed like this for a while, basking in each other for what seemed like the first time. They both knew it wasn’t, but that didn’t matter to them. What mattered was this moment in time. They broke apart for air when Remus knocked on the door.
“I hate to ruin the moment, but Sirius is getting very impatient. When you two are done, come into the bedroom please. With clothes on.”
James pulled Regulus down from the counter, ruffling his hair on the way out of the bathroom. They entered the bedroom to see a very concerned Sirius pacing around the room.
“We should probably leave them, Reg.” “Good plan,” Regulus answered before the two left the room.
“When I said you could date my brother, I didn’t mean shag him in my bathroom, not 12 hours after saying it!” “We didn’t shag! God, do you expect nothing better of me? We talked it out and decided fake dating wasn’t going to work because we both have feelings for each other. Then we kissed and then Moony came and got us.” “Oh. Okay then. That's good. Thank you for not shagging my little brother.”
Remus came back into the room, grabbing Sirius. James left, wanting to find Regulus again. He found him next to Evan and Barty, and decided to leave him alone. He had had a few drinks, but he wanted to stay sober until he went home, just in case. He went into a room and found Walter in there with a few other men he didn’t know. Walter called him over. James shook his head, but Walter followed him.
“James, you’re drunk.” “I’m really not.” “Listen, I’m sorry. We got off on the wrong foot earlier, and I feel bad. You were so kind, and I just wanted to get to know you better. I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable.”
James considered the man’s apology. He was being nice, and it wasn’t that bad that he’d touched him a bit earlier.
“It’s okay, really. I forgive you.” “Good, now I can tell, you’ve had something to drink. Can I take you home? I’ll just drop you off, and on the way we can maybe get to know each other a little better?” “Erm,” James hesitated.
Walter was a total stranger who was taller and heavier than James. He knew he could easily overpower him, but at the same time, he seemed sweet in a way. He then considered the offer. It would mean Walter knowing where he lived, and then there was always the chance of him coming inside. Who knew what would happen then? Just then, he felt hands around his waist, and Regulus stepped in front of him.
“No. Fuck off, Walter. I told you this already. I’m always there, watching James, making sure stalkers aren’t trying to take advantage of his kindness. James, come on, we're leaving.” “Yea, James. Follow your man whore of a boyfriend like a lost puppy. You probably wore that skirt to get as many people into your bed as possible, you fucking slut.”
James expected Regulus to do something, but James was faster. He swung his fist into Walter’s jaw, hearing a sharp crack. Evan and Barty came behind him.
“James, let us handle this asshole. Just take Regulus home.” “Fine. But you better get him as close as you can to killing this bastard.” “Don’t worry. We will.”
Regulus ended up dragging James into Sirius’s room.
“We need to go home, Rem. We need your car. Can we use it?” “Yes, of course. I’ll walk by tomorrow and pick it up with Sirius. Are you going back to yours or James’?” “I’ll probably drop James off, but I’ll text you in the morning.”
James followed Regulus’s quick pace, saying a quick goodbye to the girls as Regulus grabbed his phone. They climbed into Remus’s car, and Regulus drove in silence. James fiddled with his sweater, thinking of what to say. Regulus was speeding, his jaw was clenched, and his knuckles were white. He was angry. Really angry. And it was all James’s fault.
“à quoi pensiez-vous putain?!” “I’m sorry? What the hell did you just say?” “I said ‘what the fuck were you thinking’.” “Ah. Reg, I’m so so sorry. He seemed sorry, and I felt bad. I was never going to say yes to him taking me home. I swear on my life, I was just going to come find you as soon as we had finished talking.”
Regulus nodded. The car slowed a bit, and James realized they were at his apartment.
“Reg, please. Say something.” “I believe you. I’m still upset, but just with myself. James, you’re so sweet, and lots of people would love to take so much advantage of you and I don’t know what I’d do if I’d lost you because of that.” “You don’t have to forgive me, that's not what I’m asking for, I just wanted to tell you what happened so that you wouldn’t be mad at me. I can’t risk that. I never want you to be mad at me. You mean too much.” “Fuck, James.” “What?” “You can’t look at me like that,” he muttered. “I’m looking at you like I always look at you.”
That was a lie. James could do things with his eyes, make them look bigger and more innocent. He could also do what Sirius called his ‘fuck me’ eyes. He would close them slightly, making his eyelashes flutter. He stared at Regulus for a minute, then pitched his voice, making it raspy and low.
“Stay? I know you’re mad, darling, but please.” “Fucking hell James, I’ve never been mad at you.”
They got out of the car, walking inside together with matching strides. Regulus plopped down on the couch, letting James get a blanket and pull up a movie. They wrapped themselves in the blanket, Regulus curled around James and they started watching IT. Regulus was watching the screen, but James’s eyes were on him. He looked perfect there. Regulus looked up at him, blushing hard when James winked at him. He burrowed his head into James’s shoulder. James found this very attractive, because he paused the movie and started to kiss Regulus.
“Finally,” he muttered against James’s mouth.
They kissed for a bit on the couch, when Regulus got uncomfortable. James could tell because he kept adjusting himself every few seconds. James grabbed his hips and placed him on his lap, making their mouths able to connect further. James kissed him hard and passionately. James stood, letting Regulus wrap his legs around James as he carried him into the bedroom. When they dropped on the bed, Regulus broke the kiss.
“James, how much did you have to drink?” “I drank what you saw me drink.”
James began to get undressed, and Regulus did the same, slowly removing each layer for James to see.
“Good, because I want to do this but in no world am I about to with you being drunk.” “And what is ‘this’ exactly?” “Whatever you want, baby. Tonight, I’m all yours.”
James crashed against Regulus, pinning him against the bed. Regulus smiled against James' mouth. He sat James up, flipping the pair over and placing Regulus on top of James. He trailed down James’s neck, biting the skin, enjoying James’s gasps every time he sunk his teeth in. He marked James with his mouth, leaving a trail of red marks along his neck and chest. James took in each of Regulus’s kisses along his body with a shuddering gasp. He let Regulus take the lead, showing him what he liked and didn’t. James wasn’t sure there was anything that Regulus could do that he wouldn’t like. He let out a muffled sound, for only Regulus to hear, and he let Regulus explore him as much as he wanted to.
Hours later, after he was sure Regulus was asleep, he started to talk to the stars. He told them about the perfection that was the beautiful boy sleeping next to him, and he wished that this would be how it could last forever. The last thing he thought as he fell asleep is how much he liked Regulus smelling like his eucalyptus body wash.
