Chapter 8 - Auntie
After what felt like an eternity, the cart finally stopped, I looked out into the darkness, my eyes almost closed tight from crying, the air stung as it hit them.
A tall woman and a shorter man wearing a hat help me off the back of the cart, steadying me as i stumble down the steps.
“We’re here from the ministry, we’re going to make sure you get somewhere safe and comfortable tonight, do you know if you have any family that we could contact?”. The woman explains in a gentle low voice.
“I only have an great aunt, my father was a muggle, I never met him”, my body trembles from shock.
They escort me in towards a small candlelit cottage with a red door and Ivy trellis all the way up to the roof, it smells of Mead and stew.
The man asks me many questions about my mothers aunt, he says that he will try and get an owl to her as soon as possible, I know my mother had only received a owl from her last week.
I knew she still lived in the small muggle town called Haltwhistle, where I had been born.
She has pretty much renounced all her magical ways and lived the life of a muggle for many years, she still received owl post and had some enchanted items in her house to help, as she was almost 90 years old and weak, but other than that, she was just a normal old lady.
I curl up on a comfortable chair next to the fireplace and hope to Merlin that my Aunt has received the owl that the Ministry have sent her, I cry myself to sleep, my dreams are filled with nightmares of my mother and the dark witch, but I don’t wake until the following day.
