Chapter 9 - Letter of acceptance

My aunt never pushed her muggle like ways on me, she still allowed me to study the books of magic and helped with any questions I had, life with her was very quiet, nothing really happened in the village except for the odd drunken bar fight at the local tavern and the odd sightings of a wolf.

After settling in my Aunt offers to hold a small funeral for my mother, just in the garden as we have no body and no one we can tell about her passing, she goes out early one morning and arrives back with a arm full of beautiful roses and baby breath, we lay the flowers down across a moss covered stone as wide as a cartwheel and speak words of love and grief, the years pass but the pain remains steady within our hearts.

I ask of my farther and his family often, it is always met with the same stern “he does not live her anymore, non of them do”.
After a while I stop asking.

We live our simple lives happily for another few years until Aunt Yasminia health starts to decline, she slowly stops going to the shops and I have to take over being the house keeper, the chef and the nurse.

One evening I arrive back from the village with meat for the next week, I go over to my Aunt and put my hand on her arm, it is as cold as marble and almost as pale, my screams fill the cottage as her head falls to one side, eyes open clutching her darning needle and thread, on this day I am thankful that my mother went quickly and her body was reduced to dust, I would have never recovered from seeing her like this, it was hard enough seeing Aunt Yas.

After that evening the days turned to blurs, I saw so many people come and go from our little cottage that I forget every name and title, some well wishers and muggle friends, others wizarding folk.

A week later a familiar face from the ministry knocks at the door, the shadow of her tall frame dark in the candlelight.

“It’s unfortunate that we’re meeting under these circumstances again”, she softy says, “I do have a proposal for you though”, she hands me a small letter with a red wax stamped sticker holding it together.

“This is your Hogwarts acceptance letter, they would be happy to take you”.

I don’t hesitate when she holds out her hand and guides me to the carriage attached to 3 large horses.
