Chapter 6 - Family tree

My father was a muggle, after a short period of dating my mother shared with him her witch heritage and he was accepting of it.
After finding out she was pregnant he decided it was all too much for him, the thought of raising a magical child, a child at all for that matter was not something he desired, he vowed that he disregarded all parental rights and left the same day.

My mother raised me well, after giving birth she left the area to move as far away as possible from my fathers family and prying eyes, she didn’t want the secret of her witchcraft getting out.

Edward had promised not to tell anyone about her gifts or the baby, he said he would just tell them she had left and moved away, which in part was true, she couldn’t risk someone seeing her, especially not with a pronounced stomach so she hid in her aunties cellar until a month after my birth, then traveled by horse and cart and later boat to the Isle of Muck, a small wizarding community where she could start a new life.

Both my maternal grandparents had died from illness while my mother was in her teens, Scrofungulus had been rife in the area and Lyaria had managed to escape it somehow while at school, but once back home they all started to come down with vicious lumps along their necks and face, Lyaria’s started to slowly go down but both her parents erupted into small wriggling tentacles which slowly took over their whole necks, she called for a apothecary and doctor but by the time they arrived both had succumbed to the illness.

She ended up leaving Hogwarts in her 3rd year and training to be a apothecary in hopes that one day she would be able to help a family like hers not be torn apart.

On my 12th birthday she got a knock at the door and her stomach dropped, she assumed that the contract she had taken out with the dark witch all those years ago had been forgotten about but when she opened the door to see a tired angry face, she realised it hadn’t.
