Chapter 7
~Regina~
When the feast was over the prefects of Slytherin leaded the way to the common-room. the one that belonged to Slytherin was located in the dungeon. The password to the Slytherin common-room was ‘Veritaserum’ and the doors opened. The dorm rooms were separated in to girls and boys, everybody was assigned to certain dorm mates, it was possible to change them but that only happened under circumstances where there was no other option.
Barty and Evan shared a room with another boy; Dante Desai and Regina was stuck with two other girls; Iris Pierce and Sabrina West. The three of weren’t happy with it but hoped that they could get along alright with their dorm mates.
When Regina made it to her dorm, she saw that her trunk was closest to the door on the right side of the room. That suited her just fine, that way it wouldn’t give her the feeling like she’s trapped. She opened her trunk and started to unpack, when she was finished, she put her night clothes on and climbed in to bed and closed the curtains, she could hear Iris and Sabrina giggle and fought the urge to tell them to shut the hell up. She casted a quick ‘Lumos’ and with the light of her wand read a view chapters, before putting her book away to go to sleep.
~Remus~
Sirius is pacing, why is he pacing. His pacing gives me a headache. He’s been doing it for the past 30 minutes, while grumbling under his breath and it’s pissing him off.
“Sirius, if you don’t tell me what’s going on in the next ten seconds you can go pace in the common room. ‘Cause right now your just annoying this entire dorm.”
James, Peter and Remus were unpacking, while Sirius was buzzy having an internal crisis. James, always the mother-hen of the group, has asked Sirius what’s going on a million times already. So, Remus decides to take matters in to his own hands. It’s sweet that James wants to be polite, by asking Sirius gently. But sometimes you’ve just gotta be blunt, that’s where Remus gets in to the picture.
Sirius whips his head around to look at Remus so fast, he almost gave himself a whiplash. “‘What’s going on?!’ Did you and I just see the same sorting?” Sirius askes incredulously.
Remus’ face betraying nothing but slight annoyance, just stares at him. “Yes, al the first years were sorted into the houses that fitted them best.” Remus eventually says, while raising an eyebrow. “That’s still no reason to act like you are now.”
“No rea- Are you kidding me?!”
“Sirius I’m gonna need you to use your words, not throw a temper tantrum.”
Sirius grumbles, but takes a deep breath after a while. James takes a step closer, sensing that Sirius is finally willing to have an actual conversation, instead of biting his head off.
“Reggie was sorted into Slytherin.” Sirius said softly. He’d expected that to be the issue, but doesn’t react, instead letting James work his magic on Sirius.
“Okay.” James starts gently. “And that bothers you?”
“Of cou- !!!” Sirius sighs cutting himself off, before he starts screaming again. “Yes, yes it does. ‘Cause… Slytherin is full of dick’s and…”
“And your scared that your sister will turn out the same.” James finishes for him. Sirius nods.
It is silent for a moment before Remus speaks up again. “Look Sirius, the question is if you trust Regina enough to not let herself be corrupted.” Sirius opens his mouth to speak but Remus cuts him off. “And it’s not as if it’s out of your control, if you’re really worried. You two are gonna see each other enough, so that way you’ll be a good influence on her.” Sirius closes his mouth and considers that, after a moment Remus sees his body relax.
“And honestly, when we met her on the train, I didn’t expect her to be a Gryffindor.” Peter chimes in.
“Me neither.” “Same.” Remus and James both agreed on the same time.
Sirius nodded. “Okay, but I need you three to.” He said, to which Remus raised an eyebrow. “I need you to be a good influence on her too. You are my best friends and I want you to get along. Doesn’t matter how snarky she can be.” The boys smiled at him and agreed.
~Regina~
Regina’s dorm mates had giggled all night long, eventually she fell asleep but it took her ages. Clearly Iris and Sabrina knew each other already, they had a great friendship and didn’t bother trying to befriend Regina. Which was fine, she didn’t want their friendship anyway. The whole night talking and giggling about merlin knew what.
Regina was very aware that she wasn’t a social butterfly, she doubted if she’d ever become one. So, if she made an attempted to interacted with people, couldn’t it be people who made her want to claw her eyes and ears off, just so she didn’t have to acknowledge their presence. Okay, that was dramatic, but it runs in the family so Regina blames her mother.
Regina began to dress, before making her way to the common room where Barty and Evan were already waiting for her. The three Slytherins made their way to breakfast and looked over their time table.
“Okay so today we begin with D.A.D.A, which is a combined class with the Ravenclaw’s” Regina informed the boys who were putting food on their plates. “Then two hours Herbology with the Gryffindor’s and an hour astronomy with, again, the Ravenclaw’s. After that we’ll have lunge, and then the last hour Potions with the Hufflepuff’s.” She finished.
Barty grumbled, clearly not a morning person. “Already a full day of lessons, couldn’t they give us a week or two-”
“Or three.” Evan mumbled.
“-to settle in.” Barty, besides a smirk, didn’t react to Evan. Regina rolled her eyes at the two boys sitting on the other side of the table, before picking up her own plate and chucking food on top of it.
The tree were in the middle of a conversation before, “Hello Regina.” A familiar voice said from behind her. Before she could turn around, two female figures seated themselves on either side of her.
Narcissa and Andromeda looked at her with sweet smiles, which Regina returned. “Hello, good to see you again, I didn’t see you on the train.”
“That’s why we sought you out now. Were really happy you joined Slytherin, our house can always use a smart mind.” Andromeda said with a smile.
“And who are these two boys.” Narcissa said turning her attention to Barty and Evan.
“Barty Crouch Jr.” “Evan Rosier.” They introduced themselves. “And who are you?” Evan asked.
“They are my cousins, Andromeda and Narcissa Black.” Pointing to each of them.
The five of them had a short conversation about the sorting of the night before, until the sisters made their exit. “If you need anything don’t hesitate to ask.” Narcissa said, softly squeezing Regina’s shoulder before walking in the direction where her friends where sat.
After breakfast the Slytherins made their way towards their first class in D.A.D.A. with the Ravenclaws. Barty and Evan sat beside each other on the right side of the class room and Regina took a seat behind them. The other Slytherin and Ravenclaw first years also took their seats, most of them sitting next to people from the same house.
Regina paid little attention to them and instead decided to grab her books out of her bag. That was, until she felt some one standing next to her. Reluctantly she turned her head in the direction to the person standing by her seat.
Standing there; was Pandora Lovegood, the girl she’d met on the train. Regina blinked dumbly at her, not really knowing what to do.
Pandora smiled sweetly at her. “Hello.”
“H- hello.” Regina said, though it sounded more like a question.
“I was wondering if you’d be alright with me sitting next to you? I haven’t really got any friends in my house yet and I am most familiar with you.” Before Regina could respond she began to talk again. “If you’d prefer that I’d sit somewhere, no hard feelings.”
Regina was silent for a moment until she answered. “I don’t mind, please.” She gestured to the seat next to her. Pandora smiled and took a seat.
“Thank you.”
Barty and Evan had turned around and looked at Pandora with raised eyebrows. She gave them a smile in return and extended her hand. “Hello, I am Pandora Lovegood. Nice to meet you.”
The guys looked at her outstretched hand, before they shook it and introduced themself. Then they shot a questioning look in my direction. “We met briefly on the train.” They nodded.
Regina was surprised in how easily the four of them got along. Pandora was a bit different but in a nice way, it was like she viewed the world in rose-colored glasses. Which was, if she was being honest, refreshing.
In 12 Grimmauld Place there wasn’t much space for cheerfulness. So, to be around a person who was nothing but was… new, to say the least.
The D.A.D.A. professor walked in and silenced the class, the first lesson started. Regina’s attention drew to every word of the professor and Regina found that she quite liked the company of Pandora Lovegood.
