chapter 8
~Sirius~
Sirius still hadn’t talked to Regina. Not because he didn’t want to, he just didn’t know what to say. A view days after the sorting, Sirius still hadn’t talked to her. Though he should, he really, really should.
He didn’t know what to think. Sirius didn’t exactly have good experience with people who were sorted into Slytherin… *cough, cough* his family *cough, cough*. Though Andy was great and he supposed Cissy was fine too. And in his first year of Hogwarts he didn’t exactly make friends in Slytherin house. On the contrary, he managed to create a revelry with his fellow dorm mates against a moron of a boy Snape and his two bitches Avery and Mulciber.
The boys are disgusting and a waste of fucking space, especially Snape. Fortunately, Remus, James, Peter and Sirius seem to unanimously hate their guts. Unfortunately, a fellow Gryffindor seems to be besties with Snape, for some reason Sirius still can’t seem to figure out. Lily Evans.
He didn’t have an issue with the girl, but he had to admit, it was getting annoying how she seems to defend him no matter what. She admired her loyalty to her friend, but at the same time Sirius felt as if she betrayed her own house.
Sirius could only hope the Regina didn’t end up becoming friends with them. He didn’t think he could handle that. But whether or not she’d become friends with the creature called Snape, he’d still had to talk to her.
Though he had no idea how to do so.
He made a mental note to talk to her after lunch when she departed from the Slytherin table, he’d follow her and ask her to talk.
Sirius was shook out of his thought by Peter. He blinked, “Sorry Pete, what were you saying?” Remus raised an eyebrow in amusement, he always found it funny when Sirius zoned out and Sirius cheeks warmed, wait what? That’s not supposed to happen. He’s my mate, I shouldn’t be flustered. And I don’t get embarrassed!
Remus furrowed his brows at Sirius’ reaction. Peter, it seemed, was totally oblivious to Sirius’ inner crisis as was James his ADHD brain completely somewhere else. “I asked if you already made charms homework. Remus hasn’t made it yet so…?”
“No Pete, you know me. I’m never the first one tot make it. If Remus hasn’t made it, I haven’t either.”
“Translation: he’s never one to make it at all, he’s the first one to copy my homework.” Remus said, looking up from his book, pointing a look at Sirius that looked so impressively like McGonagall’s, Sirius was taken aback for a moment. When he fell out of his stupor, he flashed a cheeky grin at him in return, to which Remus rolled his eyes.
Lunch ended soon after, he kept an eye on Regina. When he saw she was standing up, he said he’d ketch up with with the others and move on without him. Peter looked confused, Remus raised an eyebrow but James seemed to understand and said “Com’n guys. Sirius don’t be late, Minni will have your head.”
Thank merlin for James. He’d talked to James about his sister last year, and a bit about her sorting and he seemed to understand. Sirius honestly didn’t what he’d do without him.
When Regina and a view other Slytherins he didn’t know walked out of the great hall, he walked towards them. When she caught his eye, she halted.
“Hey Reggie, can I talk to you?”
She simply stared at him for a moment, and he started to fidget, when she nodded and he sighed in relief. The Slytherins looked at her in silent question, she turned her gaze towards them. “You go on. I’ll see you in class, it’s fine.” She gave them a have smile. They nodded and went on their way.
They walked to the side of the hall, so they wouldn’t hold up all the other students who where walking towards their classes.
They stayed silent for a moment, neither knowing what to say. It accrued to Sirius that he’d figured out when to talk to her, but hadn’t considered what to actually say. He’d just assumed he’d know what to say in the moment. Conclusion; he didn’t.
“Are you mad at me?” Regina said in a small voice, when he didn’t speak.
Overwhelming quilt formed in his chest. She thought- because he hadn’t-
“No.” Sirius said firmly and he saw her shoulders fall at least an inch in relieve.
“Then why…” she trailed off. But she didn’t need to finish the sentence for him to know the question. He sighed.
“Listen Reg. I… well…” he groaned, frustrated, that he didn’t know how to express what was in his head. “I just didn’t know what to say. And I was, am scared. Last year, I didn’t exactly make a lot of friends with Slytherins, so- and our family aren’t exactly… you know…”
“Andy and Cissy are also our family… and Slytherin… like me.” He stayed silent. “Listen Sirius, I know you don’t like the house, and don’t really know or trust many Slytherins,” Sirius looked at her in surprise. She noticed and smirked slightly, “it wasn’t hard to figure out.” Before looking serious again. “But I’m asking you to trust me, because you know me.”
He smiled sadly at his little sister, she was so smart. Though he’d never admit it to her. It’s a sibling thing. “I do know you, I do trust you and… I love you.”
They locked eyes and she gave a small smile. “I love you too.” And Sirius pulled her in her in a tight hug.
After a moment, they pulled apart. “So… how is Slytherin. What’s the password of your common room.” He said in his most innocent voice possible.
She gave him an unimpressed look. She and Remus would be a horrible duo, with the stares alone. They'd get on like an house on fire. He smiled at the thought. “Yeah, nice try. I’m not ignorant big brother. Especially compared to the morons that go to this school.” She gave him a look that suggested he was part of the maturity and then smirked.
He made an offended noise that turned her smirk into a laugh and he smiled. He loved the sound of her laugh.
“I have to go to class, let’s talk later. Preferably not at a moment where we have only a couple minutes.” She said while she started walking.
“Yeah,” he called after her. “hey you never answered my other question!” at this point he was yelling but he didn’t care.
“Slytherin is great.” She said and turned a corner, she never saw Sirius grin after her.
