Happy Mornings
Crucio a man says. A woman's screams can be heard, then cackling.
Cyrus wakes up in a cold sweat. Now what kind of dream was that? It felt so real.
It's morning, late morning. He panics, his tired brain unable to recognize his surrounds, until he remembers yesterday. Was that even real? It has to be, where else would he be?
Family. He has a family now! He wouldn't have to go back to Private Drive.
He stretches and gets up. A warm feeling in his chest, getting out the room, over to where voices and laughter can be heard. They stop when he's in view. "Morning Har-Cyrus." Remus corrects himself, standing by the stove. "Are you okay? You're looking a little pale there." "Yeah, I just had a weird dream is all." "Weird dream?" Xenophilius prompts. "Yeah, uhm what's crucio?" The adults share a look. "What was this dream about exactly?" Remus asks, not wanting to tell him until they knew a little more. "It was in my dream. A man said it to this woman, who screamed, then laughed hysterically."
Xenophilius sits down. "You're going to find out about it anyway. The cruciatus curse, is one of the three unforgivable curses. Imperio controls you, however, there is a chance to break free from it. Crucio, is excruciating pain. The last one, is the killing curse, Avada Kedavra."He explains delicately. "Do you know what a seer is?" He shakes his head, wondering what that has to do with anything. "It was one of the abilities you had blocked. It is a rare gift. Given to us by the fates." he said. "It appears, that you, as well as Luna, have it."
"Seer twins" Remus muses, "What a gift."
"A gift indeed Remus."
"So! Now that Cyrus is awake, how about we have some breakfast." Remus changes the subject, wanting to talk about something lighter. "You haven't eaten yet?"
"No, we wanted to wait until you wake up." Luna replies.
Xenophilius plops a leather-bound notebook in front of him, he looks up at the man questioningly. "You can use it to write your dreams in." His fingers trace the spine. "I saw it in the shop yesterday and thought you might like it."
Cyrus feels his eyes watering. He can't help it; these past hours have been quite emotional. The chair makes a scraping sound as it's pushed out hurriedly. Cyrus stands to give the man a hug, whispering 'thank you'. "No problem my boy," is whispered back, stroking his hair.
Breakfast his served. Two bottles of potions sit on his right, waiting to be taken. This is more than he's ever wanted. Despite his life being a lie and taken away from his family, he's happy. Cyrus is truly happy.
Sitting next to his siter Luna, across from Xenophilius and Remus, eating their breakfast together, chatting and talking away. This is what his mornings get to be like from now on. These are the mornings he'd dreamed of. No more getting-or almost getting-hit by frying pans, no more getting yelled at for accidentally burning breakfast or not cooking it right. And no more scarfing the bit of leftovers he was allowed to have.
