The Arcadia order
Douxie approached the door where he would be watching some kid while his mom was in class and was about to knock when he heard the mother’s voice. “Remember to not use your gift in front of the babysitter I hired to watch you.”
“We promise mom.” The child replied as the door was opened.
“Oh hello. You must be Douxie, thank you for coming. I hope you don’t mind watching Jim’s friend, Toby, as well.”
“I don’t mind.” Douxie responded as he glanced over her shoulder at the boys.
As soon as the door is closed and he’s sure the mother is gone Douxie lifts a hand and let’s his magic to flow onto it, bringing surprised gasps from the boys.
“You can make your hand glow too!” The shorter boy yelped.
“I can and what I’m doing is magic. I know your mom said not to but since I can use magic I think it’ll be alright if you use yours.”
At his words they eagerly show him their magic and Douxie is teaching them how to levitate stuff with their magic, to the boys joy. Around noon he fed them then set them down for a short nap, promising to tell them about the trolls living underneath Arcadia, using his magic to show each troll he tells about to Jim and Toby.
When they woke up Douxie spent the rest of the time teaching them on other ways to use their magic. He was in the middle of showing them how to create illusions when Barbara came home.
While the boys were showing Barbara what they learned three people gathered to discuss the power they felt coming from Arcadia and agreed to raise a shield that would cover not only the town but the national park where the castle they lived in floated.
Once the shield was up any with the intent to cause harm wouldn’t be able to get through thus protecting all magical beings living in Arcadia. The smallest of the three turned to the other two. “I’m going to go check in with Douxie, see if knows who the new wizards are.” She informed them before scampering from the room and to the ground.
Douxie is headed out the door of the Lake house when a small green figure approached him. “Nari, what are you doing here? I thought you were with Belroc and Skrael above Arcadia’s national forest.”
“We felt the new magic and I came to let you know we raised the shield. I also came to see if you know who the new wizards are.”
“I do know, Jim Lake and Toby Domzalski. I started training them which is why you three felt them but they weren’t the only ones born in their age group. I’m going gather the rest their age and test them.”
