Chapter 1
"oh my gosh Sevy...we're finally on our way" Lily could barely contain her excitement "can you believe it?"
Severus was about to respond with something snarky only Lily could hear, but instead he found himself frozen silent
Just a few feet away stood the most beautiful human being he'd ever seen in his entire life.
Dark wavy hair, perfect olive skin, pink lips and straight white teeth.
His smile was like mischievous sunshine. He wasn't sure what mischievous sunshine was, but this beautiful boy seemed to embody it.
Lily elbowed him, "c'mon lets go find seats"
she turned to hug and kiss her parents,
Severus thanked Mr and Mrs Evans and hugged and kissed his mom
he completely ignored Petunia and tried to steady his breath as they walked onto the train together
"HEY COME SIT WITH US" yelled a loud boy with messy hair, smiling at Lily and waving like an insane person
Severus felt his insecurities multiply...Lily was his only friend so he wasn't quite ready to share, just as Severus was about to sneer at this obnoxious boy he noticed who was sitting behind him
That same boy from the platform, the beautiful one, peeked out and waved at them.
"Hi, there's some room here"
he froze again, he felt nervous and suddenly he looked over at Lily she was smiling at him but letting him make the decision.
he smiled back.
Sirius Black, the beautiful boy's name was Sirius Black and it repeated like a mantra at the back of his mind.

somehow they were both sorted into Slytherin, which Sirius hated...
"now everyone is going to think I'm just like my parents, I'm nothing like my parents...I'm so much cooler"
"if you were in fact cooler you wouldn't say you were cooler."
Sirius made a face at him,
"but it doesn't matter, here you can be whomever you want...you don't have to be like your parents you can just be you"
Sirius smiled at him, the most beautiful smile in the world he thought to himself
"okay, but you have to just be you too, Sev."
Lily was in Ravenclaw and the loud obnoxious boy, James Potter, was sorted into Gryffindor.
For awhile it seemed like Severus would finally be free of James and could just focus on Lily and Sirius, but alas he was not so lucky. James and Sirius were inseparable. They took turns sitting at each other's tables. Sirius sometimes dragged Severus along, which Severus hated until he met Remus Lupin.
"Hullo. Remus Lupin."
"Severus Snape."
"yeah I remember from potions, you're taking to it really well. I wish I was a natural at something too"
Severus straightened his back a little to that
"Sev is good at everything so far" exclaimed Sirius
"so is Lily" chimed in James
Sirius rolled his eyes at that and looked at both Severus and Remus before he responded
"I'm sure she's great Jamie...but Sev really is a natural at potions"
Severus grimaced at Sirius, uncomfortable with his crush complimenting him so openly
he noticed Remus was reading their charms book, Lily's favorite subject so far, they got lost in conversation.
he no longer minded being dragged to the Gryffindor table for lunch whenever Sirius made him. He'd never go on his own because if he wasn't sitting next to Sirius, it wasn't worth it. But he didn't mind Remus so much. If Sirius needed to be friends with James Potter, he'd be friends with Remus Lupin...who cares as long as he had Sirius next to him. Sometimes the four of them joined Lily at the Ravenclaw table. She didn't seem to mind Remus, although she didn't seem sold on the rowdiness Sirius brought when he was with James.
That was how the rest of Hogwarts went.
Severus was bestfriends with Lily and Remus and hopelessly in love with Sirius.
When James and Lily finally got together, he was happy for them.
When Remus made it official with Marlene, Severus bought a round of shots and even toasted them.
When both of Sirius' parents died, Sirius threw a party and Severus even swayed on the dancefloor for a few rounds with Lily and James.
But Severus stayed single.
