Sirius was relaxing on his couch with Remus, when he got a call from Regulus. He answered the call with an excited tone and yelled, “What’s up, baby bro?” But was simply cut off by Regulus.
“Is Remus with you?”
“Ummm,” Sirius looked at Remus who had a concerned and confused look on his face. “Yes?”
“What the fuck.” Regulus muttered. “Okay, well tell him to come home as fast as he can.” And, with that Regulus hung up swiftly.
“I better go.” Remus stood up and smiled at Sirius.
“Okay, be careful driving home. I’ll text you later tonight!”
Remus leaned down to kiss him, and rushed out the door. Sirius slid down the couch and giggled. God, I love him. He thought.
They have been dating for a few weeks now, and for the most part have been keeping it a secret from everyone only because of the fear of the public finding out. Sirius has been labeled somewhat of a “sex object” for most of his career. The media and the public always seemed to claim he was with a new person every other week, which couldn’t have been further from the truth. He could’ve just looked at another human being and the media would have said they were dating.
Eventually, when Sirius did go public with a relationship, the media would twist what he said, did, and posted. It would eventually tear him and whomever he was dating apart. So, this time Sirius did not want that to happen with Remus. He really liked him. They’ve kept it so secret that only Peter knows…well because Peter knows everything. Other than that, they have not told anybody else. But, they have a feeling their other friends must know, but haven’t said anything.

As soon as Remus walked through the door he was greeted with an outraged and angry Regulus. He was standing in the doorway with crossed arms and frowned eyebrows.
“Are you fucking my brother?” Regulus asked nonchalantly.
“Huh? What?”
“You heard me.”
“Um. Well-“
“It’s a yes or no question, Remus.”
“No,” Remus said.
“So you’re not dating?”
“Oh, no we are. We just haven’t-“
“Ew, stop. I don’t wanna know.” Regulus cut him off.
“You asked!” Remus rolled his eyes and pushed past him. “And what was so urgent that you had to have me rush across town at this hour?”
“I need advice.” Regulus said. Remus had that look on his face that was a mix of, “Okay? And? Continue dumb fuck!” and “I am so tired of this shit, you could’ve done this over the phone.”
“Okay…for?”
“Well, let’s say potentially and totally hypothetically you kissed someone you shouldn’t have kissed-“ Regulus stopped and corrected himself, “Actually not just kissed, but like full on made out with. And, you know you shouldn’t want to do it again because you totally shouldn’t have enjoyed it, but he was just so ugh! And, you know if you don’t text him soon he’s going to like show up at your doorstep or something because he’s insane. But, you kinda want him to so you can see him again.”
“Hm.” Remus pondered this for a second. At first, he was actually thinking about giving advice, but then his mind began to drift and think how that moment was probably the longest he’s ever heard Regulus talk for. He didn’t know if he liked rambling Regulus that much. “And who’s this hypothetical about?”
“Um, a friend of a friend.”
“Mhm. Well I’d say, do whatever makes you happy.”
“Really, that’s it?” Regulus blurted out.
“Yes, that’s it. I believe that the decision that your ‘friend of a friend’ makes will be the right decision for him. And, since this is totally hypothetical it doesn’t matter, right?” Remus said with a grin. He knew damn well who Regulus was talking about, but as one of his best friends he needed to have Regulus figure out what he wanted on his own, and not get involved.
“Mhm hm,” Regulus said slowly. He turned around and retreated to his room.

It’s been about three days since Regulus and James’s little make out session at the restaurant. James was getting a little antsy because Regulus hadn’t talked to him since. It’s not that he was expecting him to, but it was still making him a little nervous. So, of course he texted him.
(James and Regulus)
James: Hello!
Regulus: hello.
James: How is your day?
Regulus: fine.
Regulus: now that I have you here, we need to talk. can I meet you in an hour?
James: Yeah, yeah of course! Want to come over?
Regulus: okay.
——————————————————————
As Regulus stepped out of his car, he didn’t know what that pit in his stomach was, or why he was so anxious. He was actually annoyed with how long it was taking him to walk up to the steps. In this moment it felt like that one scene in Jaws as the shark creeps up, ready to attack. The moment also felt like reading the final page of a book before even starting the book because you just want to know how it ends.
Finally he made his way to the front door, although he didn’t have to knock because James swung it open.
“Hi,” James breathed out with a smile. But, Regulus didn’t say anything in return. He just stepped inside.
“So, I wanted to talk about the other night-“ James started to say but was so very quickly cut off by Regulus.
“Please, James. Don’t say anything further. That’s what I came here to talk about.” He sighed, “Whatever you think is going on or happening between us, don’t think about it any longer. It’s just not happening, okay?”
James looked at him confused, with a mixture of utter betrayal in his eyes. “What do you-“
“All I’m saying is, this can’t happen between us. We can’t be,” Regulus gestured in-between the space between them, “whatever you wanna call this bullshit. A romance, a fling, a situationship, a whatever. I don’t really care. It’s just not going to happen.”
“Wait, so I’m confused.” He stepped back and balled his hands together, “You’re saying all of that at the restaurant was just, let me use your lovely choice of words, ‘bullshit’?” James muttered out sarcastically. “And everything that has been going on since I first met you! Your little remarks to me, our moments, the glances you make towards me, and don’t act like you don’t! But especially the restaurant! Like, you cannot act like that was nothing!”
“Oh my gosh, James. Don’t be so-“
“No! No! I want to know. Because it seemed pretty fucking real then!”
“That was all a mistake.” Regulus gritted out, not looking James in the eyes.
James stared at him for a second, not entirely believing what was going on. How could someone be so cruel as to lead you on and then rip it all away from you in a second? He just doesn’t get it. How could something so real be painted as a mistake? Was that whole night a mistake? Was the past couple months a mistake? Was he a mistake? Was his feelings a mistake? Was he even real? He didn’t seem to be at that moment. The words echoed in his head. He felt like he had just been hit with a metal pot over the head; he needed to sit down.
They both stared at each other until Regulus spoke again, but this time softer than before. “You don’t want to be with me, okay? I promise you that. You don’t actually want me, and you definitely won’t like the real me.”
Honestly, even if James believed it or not this hurt Regulus too. He did really love James, although he would never admit it to anyone or even himself, but his subconscious mind knew. But, it was a bad idea all around. James was Sirius’s best friend, James was famous and it was just going to stir up more controversy if they started dating and whatnot, and it would just never work.
“Who are you to say that?” James was practically yelling with tears in his eyes. “You don’t get to say that.”
“Well, I just did.” And with that, Regulus was out the door leaving James in the middle of the room with nothing but anger and sadness festering through his bones. And, as Regulus shut the door behind him, he felt like he had just lost a part of himself that he would never get back.
