completely unannounced
"So take me somewhere, somewhere nice" Lily smiles and James stood up "Okay, follow me " He grinned as they got closer to the astronomy tower. James hesitated if he should bring Lily to his and Regulus's place. But it was beautiful and he wanted Lily to see the beauty of the stars and the moon. He even checked if Regulus isn't there on the map, he wouldn't want him to see Lily with him there. It's no secret that James and Lily are close and maybe too much close but James knew that this would hurt him. Even though he did it. It was kind of foolish of him actually.
But he doesn't think about things that much.
"Astronomy tower ?" She looked at James. It was middle of the night so the stars were beautifully visible.
"Look at the sky Lily not the beautiful architecture of this place" He said and smiled when Lily started looking all over that place.
Lily looked up to the sky and saw all the stars.
"I - I don't really know how they are called- I mean I tried to learn something about them I even got the book but I just didn't really catch anything out of it " James smiled and looked at the stars too.
"You don't have to know their names to see how pretty they look " Lily said with a little smile on her face.
"Yeah I suppose that's true" James nodded.
"Regulus would know their names" James says and he doesn't even think about it.
Lily stays quiet. It's the kind of quiet that means 'you said something stupid but I don't wanna tell you directly' .
"I'm sorry" James said when he realised.
"It's fine James- It's just - you think about him way too much - but you're here with me" She said not angrily more like disappointed.
"I'm sorry - I just - I just said it because Regulus used to like this place and I used to like it too and the stars- he knew the stars " James realised after a while that it was maybe the worst thing to say right now but it was true.
"Well that's brilliant -why did you bring me here then ? It was yours place- yours and Regulus's . Then what am I doing here James ? Why would you bring someone to the same place as you were bringing your fucking ex" Lily said quietly, it wasn't anger in her voice but it was something very similar.
"I- I wanted you to see the stars -because they are beautiful and you are beautiful and Regulus-Regulus is not my ex" James tried to defend himself.
"Well maybe you never dated but you loved him"
"Well yeah I do love him but I also love you Lily"
"You love him ? Right now ? No past tense - you still love him huh"
"Of course I do- love isn't something that goes away- I will probably love him forever but as much as I love him - I love you Lily"
"I- what am I supposed to say now ? How can I know that you won't leave me for him some day when you love him so much" She said with a desperate sigh.
"Regulus and I - it's over and it'll stay just like that" James said and it sounded that he was more convincing himself than Lily.
""I don't wanna argue over something like that James" Lily whispered.
"Me neither" James said quietly and after a while he kissed her.
And she kissed him back and it was a wonderful moment.
All the worries and fights it was gone now.

Regulus was at the astronomy tower that night.
He wanted to leave when he saw James with Lily there but he was too jealous and curious so he just stayed in the corner under the stairs.
He watched them fight over him and honestly it made his whole body shiver.
James said he loves him - that was- that was sweet and nice and it was so real when he said it - it sounded very real.
He loved Lily too, that was - well it hurt a bit but he was glad for him - that he was happy after all.
He felt guilty too. It felt like he broke James in some way . He broke him into loving him.
James deserved better than this.
He deserved Lily.
When he started kissing her, it felt weird and kind of uncomfortable.
He just kissed her .
He didn't ask, not even like waited for a permission to kiss her.
Regulus noticed that he never does. He never asks her to do any of these things.
He used to ask her but she was probably annoyed with it so she told him to stop asking her even though it was sweet.
Regulus didn't know how exactly was it but that's what Evan said when he overheard their conversation in the library.
He didn't have to ask.
Regulus was feeling quite like a fool now, because James always asked with him.
He could never give him that- just that- that he could go and kiss him completely unannounced.
He never seemed to mind but still..
He seemed happy now.
Regulus just watched them kiss and after a while he just left.
He did not want to see more indeed.
