Their final exams are close—so Scorpius spent mostly the time in the library, when he should spent them with his boyfriend.
Only three months left until they separate. Only thinking about it makes him sick. So Scorpius is not only studying for the finals, he‘s also distracting himself of the troughs than in a few months he’s gonna be alone in a different country.
„You’re doing it again“ Albus said as he sat down on the opposite side of the table in the library
„What are you talking about?“
„You’re studying too much, like in fifth year when you couldn’t stop studying for the owl‘s“ he said.
„What I don’t understand is why you‘re not studying? It’s our finals, Albus“ he said. „You should sit here, with me, with a book in your hand“
„No, what we should do is go to the corner of the library and heavily making out“ he said Scorpius looked up with a smirk.
„Remember what happened last time?“ Albus started smiling bright and took his boyfriends hand.
They walked through the library to find a place where they could be alone—but as they were searching, they found two people who got the same idea as they did
„Rose?“ Albus asked loudly
Rose and Polly jumped away from each other. „Albus!“ she said. „what are you doing here?“
„I could ask you the same fucking question“ he almost shouted and some people turned their heads to them. „Are you mental?“
„Can i explain?-„
„No, what the fuck is wrong with you?“ Scorpius placed his hand on his
boyfriends shoulder. „Albus, chill“
„Did you knew about this?“ he asked him.
Rose told Polly to leave. „Yes he knew! Would you stop shooting now? Honestly Albus what is your problem?“
„My problem is, that it’s Polly Chapman!“ he said. „of all the girl you can shag in this school, you choose Polly Chapman?“ he asked—he really tried to stay quit but he was so mad. „You are insane, Rose“
„See, this is why I didn’t told you! I knew you would react like this“ she said. „It’s none of you business who I’m going out with!“ she said and slowly steps closer. „I didn’t react that way when you and Scorpius got together“ she said
„This is different, Scorpius is not a little bitch“ he said
„Thanks“
„Scorpius was my best friend before we got together“ he said. „That’s something completely different“
„just leave me alone“ she said and left.
Albus tuned around to Scorpius and saw he was still mad. „You knew?“ he asked
„Am I in trouble?“
Albus exhaled. „No“ he said. „It’s not your fault that rose can’t think clearly“
„I think you‘re overreacting“ Scorpius said. He leaned against the bookshelf and look directly at his boyfriend. „Why does it bother to you so much?“ he asked
„Because—it’s Polly, she made our life’s hell during our first years here, and now…I don’t know“ he said.
„I get it, honestly“ Scorpius took his hand. „But it’s her life, and you know, when she told me she’s dating Polly…she said that she knows people would judge her. But you can’t decided who you love“
Albus knows he‘s right—as usual of course. „You‘re Right“ he said with hesitation. „I guess I’m overreacting“
„Can I study now?“
„No“
„Come on! Our finals are in two weeks, you haven’t even learned a little“ Scorpius complained. „I’m really worried I’m not gonna make it“
„Are you kidding me? You‘re literally a nerd, believe me, you don’t need to study because you already know everything“ he said. „And I have an idea“ he smiled
„I don’t like that face“
„We go to Hogsmeat, and you‘re gonna take a break from studying“ he said. „It’s gonna be fun, and we spent more time together“ he said his last sentence with an weird expression in his face
Then Scorpius noticed that he really should to more with Albus, since there’s not much time left for them. „Fine“ he said

The three broomsticks was filled with people—more than usual. First, Scorpius hesitated to walk inside, be he felt Albus‘s hand in his and it made him feel safer.
They sat down in a corner where not many people were. „Lot of people here“ Scorpius said quietly
„I know“ Albus said. „You good?“ he asked because he knows—Scorpius get very sensitive when many people are around him. „You wanna leave?“
„No! I‘m fine“ he said. „Although if you ask me, I’d rather go back to the castle and bury myself into my books, but I guess that’s not gonna happen today“
„Absolutely not, you need a break from words“ he said. Scorpius keeps looking nervously around him and picking on his fingernails. „We should leave“ Albus said
„No we stay here now“ it bothers him that Albus keeps trying to protect him from the world. Stuff like this shouldn’t scare him, it’s not so bad when many people are around. He tried to breath. „have you calmed yourself down about the Rose and Polly topic?“
„Kinda“ he said. „Still pisses me off tho“
„You‘re so dramatic“
„Shut up“ he laughed. „Even tho, I think it’s not gonna last long between them anyways, so“
„Why’d you think that?“
„Well, Rose will study in Italy next year, so…they won’t stay together“ he says slowly. „Just like us“
That hurts. „Yea“ Scorpius said quietly. „Because I’m gonna be in New York, and you…what are you going to do? You never told me that“
„Yea, thats the thing, I have no idea what I’m gonna do with my life“ he said. „My dad made me an offer long time ago as an auror in the ministry, but I don’t wanna be that“ he said. „And your dad actually made an recommendation, that I should be a potions master—I mean, that feels more like me than the auror thing, but I have no idea how I’m gonna do this“ he said
„But that would be great for you, potions is the only subject you‘re actually good at“ he said hard breathing
„Funny“ Albus noticed Scorpius hands shaking. „Let’s get out of here“
„Why?“
„Because you‘re obviously uncomfortable and I‘m assuming somethings gonna happen now, let’s go“ he said—and he was right
The moment they stepped out of the three broomstick’s, Scorpius took of his jacket and tried to fill his lungs with air
Albus placed his hands on his shoulders and tried to guide him somewhere they‘re alone. He helped him sit down and holds his hands tied
„It’s okay“ Albus said. „Just keep breathing, it’s almost over“ Scorpius squeezed his hands even tighter after he slowly breathed in an out.
„That didn’t happened for a long time“ he said quietly
Albus kissed his hands. „Don’t pressure you so much because of the finals, you‘re gonna be great“
„I‘m sorry“ he said slowly. „But I don’t worry about that, I know I’m gonna pass“ he watched Albus‘ gaze change as he was sitting on front of him. „We have three months left“ he said. „And it’s killing me“
Albus‘ eyes burned up with tears. „I know“ he said. „Me too“
They leaned their heads against each others and stayed like this for a while. „All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us“
They‘re two broken souls who can’t spent time apart—when Albus first met Scorpius, he never thought he would say goodbye to him one day.
„You have a place in my heart no one else ever could have“ Scorpius said quietly in his ear. „I never thought I’m gonna have to leave you“
Just two broken souls, scarred with the wounds of the past, playing a dangerous game were they know—they both getting hurt at the end

Albus was one of the first people who finished with his last exam of the year—Scorpius came running outside minutes later
„We did it!“ he shouted and fell into a deep hug. „I can’t believe it, it’s over“ he said with a relive.
Scorpius gave him a thousand kisses everywhere. On his cheek, his Lips, hands, forehead—everywhere Another few minutes later, Rose stepped out of the great hall where they were writing their exam.
She walked right pass them and didn’t even looked at Albus once. „You should talk to her“ Scorpius said
„Don’t need to“ Albus answers. „We‘re gonna see each other in every Holliday and someday, we‘re gonna be fine“
„She’s very upset“ he said
„You talked to her?“
„No, but I see it“ Albus looked back and watched her walking pass the corner.
„Someday“ he said. „But not now, it’s not like I’m not gonna see her forever“

„To all the hard work we‘ve done this year—or at least pretended to do“ The prefect of the Gryffindors shouted though the crowed of all the houses in seventh year—with a glass in his hand. „To us!“
„To us!“ they all shouted back. The music was loud in the Ravenclaw commons room—they have the biggest of them all, so they met there.
„It’s finally over!“ Eudora said to them. „All the torture we hat to go thru, it’s over now“
„I‘m gonna miss it, to be honest“ Timothy said. „Seven years of seeing each other everyday is over now, and who knows when we gonna see each other again“
„Please don’t make me cry, make me drunk“ Eudora said and and layed her head on his shoulder.
„Yea I need to be drunk too“ Albus said and walked with them to the Table with all the alcohol. „We graduate in two months, I don’t know if I’m gonna survive this“
„Time went by so fast, it feels like yesterdays that Sam came running into our compartment because you wanted to murder her“ Scorpius said and pointed a finger on Eudora
„congratulations you guys“ A familiar voice said behind them
Albus couldn’t believe it and was the first one turning around to see. „What the fuck are you doing here?“
„I walked thru the door when other people did, and now I’m here“ Lily said with a big smile on her face. „And I wanted to see my favourite brother“
„Yea, nice one, I know James is your favourite“ he said
„He was, but then he left, and now it’s you“ she said. „So what are you guys drinking?“
„None of your business, and you need to leave“
„You pretend like you‘re sooo much older than I am, next year i‘m gonna stand here“ she said. „Now, what are we drinking?“
Albus didn’t try to argue with her, because he knows it’s impossible to do so. So they drank together—a lot
„Tell mum and dad about this, I’m gonna murder you“ Albus said and drank a shot with her. And it seemed like it wasn’t her first
He grew up with his sister, and even when they‘re not far away of age, he sees her like she’s still 11 and needs to be guide around the castle. Seeing her like that changed something in him—he’s now realising, that they‘re all grown up and not children anymore. Next year, Lily is going to graduate
At some point, the two siblings were left alone. „I’m very proud of you, Albus“ she said. „I always was, even when I didn’t showed it. Seeing you do all those great stuff, it made me happy“ she said
„What great stuff have I possible have done?“ he asked in disbelieve
„Like—I don’t know, when you got outed in the daily prophet, you still were on Scorpius side, besides all the stuff that the other had said to you, you still were very strong and that was so brave of you“ she said
„I was not strong—nor brave“ he looks down on the glass in his hand his. „I was miserable at that time, I did stuff—you‘re gonna see my suffer forever on me and I can’t change it…the only thing that made me strong was Scorpius, he was by my side all along and even at my lowers, he was with me…and I think, thats very brave of him“
Lily nicked slowly. „Still, you suffered so much, and yet you‘re still here happier than ever“ she also took another shot. „Very Gryffindor of you“
„Shut up“ he smiled and tried to hide his tears „What do you see in him anyways?“ she asked as we saw Scorpius on the other side of the room.
„Everything you don’t“
She chuckled. „Of course“ she said. „So, you guys are gonna have a long distance relationship, or how are you gonna do it?“
„we break up“
„What?“ she sounded confused. Because then, Albus realised that he has no idea. „Don’t play jokes with me, if you break up, I‘m not gonna believe in love anymore“
„Since he got accepted in healer school, we agreed that long distance is not gonna work, so we break up on graduation“
„This is insane! When did you decide this?“
„When he got accepted“ he said. „I know, it’s fucked up, and everyone I told this are saying the same but…it’s the only conclusion“ he said. „And yes, I’m sad, but I had the entire year to mentally prepare myself for that moment, and I think it’s going to be okay“
She shook her head. „No, it’s not gonna be okay, and you know that“ she said quietly to him. „And you know what I think—that it’s not gonna happen“ she said proudly
„What are you talking about? It is going to happen“ he said
„No, I don’t believe it. I‘ll believe it when Scorpius is already in New York, but he’s still here, so I don’t believe it“
He smiled because of that. There were times were Albus couldn’t believe it himself, he always thought that he maybe changes his mind or some miracle came and did something were there could be a chance that they‘re still be Together at the end—but that didn’t happen yet, nothing changed in their situation.
„Believe what you want“ he said to his sister

The night has come to end and the group were laughing and enjoying their time together—because in two months, it’s all gonna be over
Timothy and Eudora were cuddled up on Albus bed that hasn’t been used the entire year. „We have to tell you something“ Eudora said
Albus and Scorpius both noticed what a serious turn this conversation got. „Oh my god, you‘re pregnant?“ Albus asked on disbelieve
„What no!“ she said. „Something else“ the boys both listened to what they have to say. „We both agreed that we‘re gonna move in together after graduation“
„You guys! That great“ Scorpius said. „I actually have to say something too“ For some reason, Albus felt a little hope that maybe he changed his mind about all that.
„What is it?“ he asked
„I made the decision, that I’m gonna leave early and move to New York the day after graduation“ he said And it felt like Albus heart got ripped out, the plan was that Scorpius will leave two weeks after graduation.
„When did you decide that?“ he asked
„A few days ago. I just think it would be better if I‘m already familiar with my living place when I start school“ he said and watched Albus reaction closely. „I‘m sorry I didn’t told you sooner“
„That fine“ Albus said. „I‘m—I’m gonna find Lily and see if she’s still awake, because if she’s still down at the party then I don’t know how drunk she is and—well you know“ and he left.
As he closed the door behind him, tears fell down his cheek. And he didn’t search for lily because he knows that she’s already in bed, he sat in the common room all by himself and let the silence tears fell down
