Sugar is only as sweet as the person who tastes it (but none are as sweet as you)
Summary
Some children, when subject to abuse, withdraw into themselves and become a shell of who they could have been. Some become loud, fashioning themselves into the hero they always wished for. Some ignore it and carry on. In every universe, the only Potter child takes one of these routes and everything changes because of it. In this universe, she takes none of these paths, instead choosing to use addiction and partying to take her mind out of her memories. What will happen when she meets a newly reincarnated Dark Lord, who is not as insane as he used to be? Well, only Luna Lovegood could possibly know that - but it's not like she would tell anyone anyway.
Note
This takes place a couple years before hogwarts, just to show what her childhood was like. This mainly focuses on her friends, who are squibs and very dodgy, but mean well. The next chapter will just be an introduction to Callie, then after that we get to the real action.

Chapter 4

PETER PETTEGREW FOUND ALIVE! MINISTRY BLUNDERS OVER AZKABAN?!? SIRIUS BLACK FOUND INNOCENT!!!

It was all the school could talk about. She didn't blame them, this was news of the century. A lord, the lord Black of all things, imprisoned without a trial for nearly a decade. It was a scandal. It had the entire wizengamot in uproar. Afterall, if it could happen to Lord Black, it could happen to any one of them. But Callie wasn't thinking about any of those things. No, she was thinking about the letter she received this morning, written in shaky hand and splotched with something that looked suspiciously like tears.

Dear Dora,
My name is Sirius black and as of yesterday I am innocent and will never have to go to azkaban again. My Healer and Mind Healer say that if I get better I could one day take guardianship of you as your parents would want me to.If you want, int he meantime maybe we can send letters to get to know each other better? Also I head you like reading, and my family library has quiet a few books if you want to flip through them!
Lots of love,
Padfoot

Scowling, she shoved the letter in her pocket and walked towards her group's table in the library. She didn't need some nosy parental figure in her life thank you very much. She huffed and threw herself into her chair she had claimed when her friends all started hanging out at this table.
"Daphne, do you think it's a good exchange for me to get an adult interested in my life in order to access the black library?"
"Hera darling I would sell my soul for even one book out of that library. Do whatever you must." Daphne replied, not even taking her eyes off her fingers that were swiftly braiding Hermione's hair.
"Point taken. Hermione?"
"If you don't get access to The Black Library becusse of your stubbornness I will never forgive you." Hermione glared at her from where she was sitting on the floor.
"Alright, alright. Draco?" She questioned
" Cousin, I think the black library is one of mothers favourite things to talk about, past gossip and wine. You send her a few of those books and you'll have her in your pocket forever - she would quite literally burn down the world for you."
"Draco, Cissy would burn the world down even if I asked her right now. You know she adores me." She said sweetly. Draco shuddered and looked away.
"The blistering craisers would be worth it, even if the nargles around your father's head haven't quite gone away yet. In time, the nargles will go and humdingers will be replaced. I heard that there's a really great book on the secrets of the fairyland in that library!"
"Luna's right you know. If Sirius black ( I presume that who we are talking about here) wants to be interested in you, that's his choice and nothing you do will get rid of that. But you could accept it, or pretend to accept it at least, then you have thousands of years worth of knowledge at your fingertips!" Susan piped up. Hannah hummed in agreement beside her. Padma and Parvati both turned pleading eyes on her. Theo was staring at her with such intensity she felt like his eyes would laser a hole in her. And Pansy was poking her ribs from where she was lying over her lap.
Finally she groaned.
"Ughhhh fineeee. I swear you'll all just ganging up on me! I'll sic my lawyers on you all! " she playfully threatened. Now she's got to deal with well meaning adults. She rolled her eyes.

To Sirius Black,
I would be interested in getting to know you, and I definitely would like to look at the library. I saw in gringotts that you've officially named me your heir before you were locked up, and I was wondering if I could look through the Black Grimoire at some point? I have black blood form my namesake so it shouldn't hurt me. Speaking of names, "Dora " is a new one. I much prefer "Callie" or "Hera" if you must. I'm sorry for the injustice commited in your name, and I hope that Pettegrew gets what he deserves.

From, Callie XX

There. That was suitably formal to Lord Black and also gets the point across. The Black Library! The Black Grimoire! She was practically salivating at the thought of it.

The next few weeks flew by in a blur. She exchanged letters with Sirius, and soon Yule was nearly upon them. She was spending Yule at Malfoy Manor, to help with the annual Yule ball, spend time with Draco and catch up with Aunt Cissa, who doted upon her like the daughter she never had. It was December 18th and she stumbled to bed. Her friends and her had had a small get together in the Come and Go Room, and after a couple hours they all parted ways and staggered back to their dormitories. Knowing she would have a killer hangover the next morning, she mad she her potions were on her bedside table then promptly face planted into bed and was out like a light.
