Kol
When Kol regained consciousness, the first thing he noticed was that he was tied up and the second that there were three people standing in front of him. He tried breaking his bounds and failed, realizing he was magically bound. He continued thrashing till he saw one of his captor’s flinch, and he finally remembered where he was and who the people standing in front of him were.
He was at his home in Beacon Hills, and his daughter was here, along with two men she was strangely very close to. He looked at the three of them and saw one of them holding her close, her head buried in his shoulder, crying. The other man kept staring at Kol, with a sadistic smile and if he wasn’t an original, Kol might have been scared.
It hurt him seeing his daughter cry and still not being able to do anything. But he put on a smile and tried talking to her.
“Hello darling.”
“Hi love.” The man holding Maya replied.
And if it wasn’t for the small chuckle he heard from her, he would be planning the death of the man.
Maya moved away from the man and looked at him, the moment their eyes made contact she looked away. But she took a deep breath and looked back at him. Her eyes were read from crying, but they were still beautiful, just like her mothers.
“Hi...”
He could see it on her face, she was contemplating on what to call him. He could sense how scared she was. Scared of angering him by calling him something he didn’t like, and he hated it. He hated how his daughter had to think so much before calling him dad.
And as much as he is dying to hear her call him dad, he knew he couldn’t ask her to do that, it wouldn’t be fair to her. So, he spoke up.
“You don’t have to call me dad.” As soon as he said that there were new tears in her eyes threatening to spill. The two men looked at her with worry, and in less than a second looked back at him like they were planning hi death. He realised he needs to explain himself.
He looked back at Maya, “I didn’t mean it like that darling. I would love it if you called me dad, but we haven’t seen each other in almost fourteen years. And even though you know that I’m supposed to be your father, right now I’m nothing more than a stranger to you. I don’t want you to call me dad because you think your obligated to, I want you to call me dad when you think I have earned that title, that is if you give me the chance to.” He took a shacky breath, with tears pooling in his eyes, “I know that I have failed you. That I couldn’t protect you. And that I wasn’t there for you. And I get it if you hate me. Bloody hell you should hate me. But, love, believe me, ever since the day your mom died there hasn’t been a day, a bloody moment that I stopped looking for you or stopped carrying about you.”
Maya was now looking at the floor. Kol kept looking at Maya hoping for an answer, and he almost gave up all hope, but he heard her mumble something. Before he could ask her what she said, she looked up and spoke louder, “I don’t.”
Kol might not have a done a good job at hiding his confusion because she spoke again, “I don’t hate you,” she hesitated before continuing, “And I think I want to give you a chance to be my dad.”
Hearing her say that made Kol’s heart swell up with joy. His daughter didn’t hate him, and she was going to give him a second chance. He wouldn’t let her down. Not again. They looked into each other’s eyes, a teary smile on both their faces.
Kol then signalled towards the two men standing with them in the room, “Who are they?”
Maya opened her mouth to speak but the man who was holding her before, beat her to it.
“How rude of us. I’m Regulus Black, a vampire. And that,” he pointed towards the other man “is Kai Parker, a heretic, a mix of witch an…”
“I know what a Heretic is.” Kol cut him off. He looked back at Kai and then at his binds, “I’m going to assume that these are your doings.”
“You’d be right, I’m responsible for your current situation.”
“Are you going to undo your handywork?”
“Depends,” he shrugged, and then looked at Maya, “You want me to free him?”
Maya looked between the three men and answered, “Yes.”
Kai snapped his fingers and Kol was free. Kol got up from the chair while rubbing his wrists. He didn’t miss how Maya flinched and moved back or how both Kai and Regulus now stood in between them, creating a shield between him and Maya. He raised his arms in surrender and sat back down, and Maya calmed down immediately.
“I’m uhm- I’m gonna find something to eat. Well drink. Does blood count as food? Because you drink it, but when you offer blood to a vampire you say, ‘Can I get you something to feed on?’ But is that just because you are feeding on a person even though you are drinking their blood. You know what? It doesn’t matter. I’m going to look for some blood, and some kind of alcohol. Yeah, that’s what I’m going to do.” Maya finished rambling, and before leaving she looked back at the three of them, “Please don’t try to kill each other.”
Kai and Regulus, both, smiled at her and watched her walk away. The moment she was out of the room they looked back at Kol, giving him a death stare. And Kol? He just looked at them with a sadistic smile, a smile that would scare anybody, even Klaus. But these two fuckers didn’t even flinch. They had the guts to try to intimidate an original with absolutely no fear, to say Kol was impressed would be an understatement. Before there staring match could continue any longer, Regulus spoke up.
“So, you are the infamous Kol Mikaelson. The wildest original.”
“The one and only.” Kol shrugged and got back up, hoping to see the two men move away in fear, but they didn’t.
“We won’t let you hurt her.” This time it was Kai’s voice that broke the silence.
Kol was sure that if they weren’t his daughter’s friend, he would kill them exactly where they stood, for even suggesting that he would hurt his daughter. But they were his daughter’s friend, meaning he had to play nice and not kill they.
“I don’t plan on hurting her.” He replied instead, voice strained, sending a clear message of, ‘How dare you say such horrendous things.’
“Who are you guys anyway?” He asked them, he had so many questions, just like he knew Maya did as well, but this was the most important one.
“We already introduced ourselves, weren’t we clear enough?” The genuine confusion in Regulus’s voice, made Kol ask a different question.
“I don’t mean your name or what you are. I mean who are the two of you to her? How did you meet her? How long have you known her for her?”
“The two of us are technically the only friends she has.” Kai started, he hesitated a little but continued anyway, “We met her three years ago. How? That isn’t our story to tell...”
“And before you ask any more questions about her, you should know we aren’t going to tell you anything, she’ll do that when she’s ready.” Regulus cut him off.
Before Kol could say anything, Maya walked in, with a bottle of bourbon in one hand and four blood bags in the other. She put the bottle on the table and threw a bag to all of them. She looked at the one in her hand and looked uncertain, like she has never drunk blood before. And then he realises, Maya may have been a Vampire, but she hasn’t been one for long. To confirm his doubt, he asked her, “When did you turn?”
“Is it really that obvious that I am a newbie vampire?”
“Yes love, it is.”
“Yesterday.” She whispered.
“What?”
“I turned yesterday.” Her voice was clearer now, even then Kol couldn’t believe what he heard.
Kol didn’t know what to say, so he decided to help his daughter learn how to drink the blood, but Kai beat him to it. He showed her how to do it, and all three men looked at her, anticipating her reaction. And it was priceless. The moment she drank the first drop of blood, her face changed from nervousness to disgust.
The three of them couldn’t stop themselves from laughing. And when Maya tried her best to give them a death stare, they laughed even louder.
“Good to see my misery is bringing you guys together.” She spoke over their laughter.
They immediately stopped laughing but a smile remained on their faces.
“Sorry cupcake, we didn’t mean to offend you.” Kai apologised, trying hard not to laugh.
She gave him a sarcastic smile. She looked at the blood bag in her hands and then looked back at them.
“How do you guys drink this stuff?”
“You’ll learn to like it, princess.” Regulus reassured her.
She brought it back to her lips and chugged down the entire thing. By the time she finished drinking, so did the rest.
Regulus brought four glasses from the kitchen, and Kai poured a drink for all of them. Seeing Maya drink it in one go, without any reaction, surprised Kol, but he didn’t question it.
Soon they were all sitting together and drinking, in complete silence. It wasn’t awkward silence, but nobody knew what to say. Till the bottle was almost over.
Maya finished her drink and looked at Kol, “I know you have many questions.”
“I’m sure you do too.” He downed the remaining of his drink.
When Maya didn’t speak again, he continued, “How about this, I’ll tell you whatever you want to know about my-our family, or your mother. Or anything else. And later, when, and only when you are ready, you tell me about your life. How does that sound love?”
“Yeah, I like that idea.”
“So, what do you want to know?”
She looked at Kai then Regulus and then finally back at Kol, “Everything.”
And so, Kol told her everything.
